I've struggled a bit recently to find things that take my interest. I keep trying comedies but think I must have lost my sense of humour or they're all just crap

I haven't watched a lot of the "big" series. Please recommend something that will keep me watching and make me want to watch just another episode, instead of going to bed. Or just something really really good!

I have Prime and Netflix.

If you've never seen Breaking Bad, I highly recommend that watch it. Then when you've finished all of those, move on to Better Call Saul.
They kept me and DH occupied during last winter's lockdown.

Lupin on Netflix. I loved it. Omar Sy is a brilliant actor.

Not had Netflix long but I've also watched Maid, Clickbait and Unorthodox.

bjjgirl · 22/10/2021 17:02

Netflix the defeated is very good

Roussette · 22/10/2021 17:07

OP.... I'm just watching Guilt on iPlayer.

BUT I'm watching Series 1 first before I catch up on Series 2 which is midway being shown on BBC2. ( I think they follow on so wanted to watch series 1 first )

I am loving Series 1, great acting and gripping, with a lot of dark humour

Squid Game is great but watch the Korean version with subtitles.
Stranger Things
Designated Survivor
GLOW
Cobra Kai
Big Little Liars
Line of Duty
The Boys
Preacher
Unforgotten
Greys Anatomy
Once Upon A Time
Riverdale

Just a few that I've enjoyed 😉

I love the thought of Pesky Blinders!

Reminds me of Scooby Doo... Smile

Not a series but The Starling movie on Netflix was quite a nice movie.

HumunaHey · 22/10/2021 20:16

Bates Motel. It most definitely is gripping and quite sick and incredibly sad.

Ladybird69 · 22/10/2021 20:27

Came on to recommend a fantastic series but can’t remember what it was called!!! So it’s now a name the series. It was on Netflix , American it starts with a down and out woman witnessing a detective jumping in front of a train and she steals her identity! It was brilliant. Also orange is the new black was great.

Lupin

Orphan Black

Ladybird69 · 22/10/2021 21:31

@Thecurtainsofdestiny thanks that’s it Orphan Black 😁 best series I’ve watched in a long time. Gripping stuff.

Bates Motel is probably the TV drama that has gripped me the most, I felt bereft after I'd finished the last episode and it has really stayed with me.

Also loved Line of Duty, Happy Valley, Doctor Foster, Hidden and The Stranger. I often struggle to get into TV series and give up on them, but these all really sucked me in.

Firesidefox · 22/10/2021 22:21

The Chestnut Man is excellent but you will need a dog to cuddle/pillow to hide behind.

BlueFlavour · 22/10/2021 22:37

Yes I thought Chestnut Man was very good. Worth a watch and not too long.

LoveFall · 23/10/2021 01:27

Nine Perfect Strangers on Amazon is quite gripping. I am part way through and finding it good entertainment.

LovingBob · 23/10/2021 08:33

@workshy44

Where do you watch American rust?
I'm not the poster that watched it, but had a look as also want to see it and it looks like it is not available in the UK yet but November is mentioned but not where it will be shown, often these type of series are on Sky channels.
mogtheexcellent · 23/10/2021 08:40

I just finished binge watching Spirited on prime. 2 series and episodes only 45 mins long. I havent been that engrossed in tv for a while.

Graceymac99 · 23/10/2021 08:40

The Serpent is a very good watch and based on the true story of the murders of many young adults back packing through Asia in the 70’s.

lmpeachment · 23/10/2021 08:44

@DumbestBlonde

American Rust (cannot binge watch as being drip fed.....), 5 episodes so far.
This looks good but cannot find it on Prime or Amazon??
MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/10/2021 08:45

Call my agent on netflix,
loved it,
Guilt i player, really good,
I know Mad Men and Breaking Bad are long but they are both worth it.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/10/2021 08:45

giri/haji - best thing on telly for years (Netflix). Or The Bridge (4 series on BBC).
