I've struggled a bit recently to find things that take my interest. I keep trying comedies but think I must have lost my sense of humour or they're all just crap

I haven't watched a lot of the "big" series. Please recommend something that will keep me watching and make me want to watch just another episode, instead of going to bed. Or just something really really good!

I have Prime and Netflix.

Bosch. One series was a bit of a miss but the others were brilliant.

InexperiencedDogOwner · 22/10/2021 00:23

Clickbait
Maid
Wentworth

Mycatisthebest · 22/10/2021 00:26

I'm watching Hannibal on Prime and love it

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/10/2021 12:31

I've just finished Maid, a hard watch for me but thought it was really good. Recent caught up on Handmaids tale @WeeM As you say grim but compelling.

I started Clickbait last night. Just watched 1.5 episodes, it's OK so far.

I get a bit overwhelmed by something with lots of series/episodes but will keep a note of these suggestions.

Maid on Netflix
Dead to me on Netflix
Good girls on Netflix
Little fires everywhere on amazon

onthinice · 22/10/2021 12:40

Sorry didn't see your update about having watched Maid already!

BrilloPaddy · 22/10/2021 12:49

If you've got Disney + then I'd recommend "Big Sky" - really good, we watched it all in about 5 nights.... only one season so far.

Virgin River on Netflix is lovely and gentle, with gorgeous scenery.

Hannibal is sublime but I can't watch more than 1 episode at a time. It really worms into your head, but fantastic filming.

meow1989 · 22/10/2021 12:54

We've just binged Squid Game and Alice in borderland on Netflix. Currently nearly finished s3 of You.

Canwegodancing · 22/10/2021 12:56

I recently watched season 1 of the sinner, Bill Pullman was in it, Jessica Biel, good story was enjoyable and at least all wrapped up within the season, going to start on season 2 at the weekend.
Also enjoyed Nine Perfect strangers, not sure if it got a hammering reviews wise but still liked it.

salsamad · 22/10/2021 12:57

For Drama -
Designated Survivor, Maid, Suits
For comedy
The Letdown, Workin Moms, Motherland
For lighthearted drama/fashion
Emily in Paris, The Bold Type

Pinkywoo · 22/10/2021 13:07

If you don't mind subtitles then Trapped is probably the most gripping series I've seen. The first two series are on prime and apparently Netflix are doing a third, it's so good!

Throughabushbackwards · 22/10/2021 15:34

I always come onto these threads to recommend The Leftovers. Changed my life!

LaBellina · 22/10/2021 15:36

Netflix
Ozark
Bad Blood
Night Stalker : the hunt for a serial killer
Kalifat
Narcos
Undercover

Andante57 · 22/10/2021 15:37

Try Korean drama Crash Landing on You.
It’s on Netflix and the whole family adored it.

JuneOsborne · 22/10/2021 15:39

You to narcos, one of the best things I've ever watched.

Also the Americans is good!

I'm into Good Girls now and that's good too.

I'm gonna throw a wild card out there. Jane the Virgin was completely addictive. I could watch it all again!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 22/10/2021 15:40

Doctor Foster is being repeated on the Drama channel just now (Freeview Channel 20) on Monday nights.

It was the first episode last Monday, and I'd forgotten how good it was!

I'd recommend it 👍🏻

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 22/10/2021 15:40

I always recommend Spiral, which was recommended to me on MN!
French police procedural, so has subtitles. 9 series in all. A bit grim in places, especially early on, but DH and I both got really into it.

Trapped is also very good, as mentioned upthread.

Both on iPlayer, if you have that.

Noorandapples · 22/10/2021 16:10

The Cleaner, really funny series about a crime scene cleaner with Greg Davies on iplayer

Lynne1Cat · 22/10/2021 16:19

On Netflix:

Dexter
The Killing
Luther
Black Mirror
Breaking Bad

Charley50 · 22/10/2021 16:21

On Netflix - Sex Education

isthismylifenow · 22/10/2021 16:24

I'm quite enjoying Why woman Kill.

I'm not in UK so not sure where you can watch it there, but I am watching on Cinema.

Cocolapew · 22/10/2021 16:29

On Netflix, Ozarks, Stranger Things, You, Mindhunter.
Amazon, Bosch, Jack Ryan, first series of Goliath (the other series were awful)

Genehuntsfanclub · 22/10/2021 16:38

Just started watching "When the dust settles" on Prime. If you like Scandi stuff you might enjoy this.

Scoobygang7 · 22/10/2021 16:49

@QuestionableMouse

Leverage - it's a bit older but it's fantastic and there's a new show coming out soon in the UK.
It's out now just binging the last half as I watched first drop via vpn. Then they changed to app and I couldn't watch on the 8th like last time.
Baconking · 22/10/2021 16:50
