Anyone watching? I love this series and fancy Perez Grin He seems to have some extra timber on him.. I don’t like him in a suit, much prefer a fishermans knitted jumper on him..

Where were we left when the last series ended? Did he get together with someone? Someone who seemed to have shady motives? I can’t remember!

I agree about the grimy tiles. I also had questions about Perez’s nurse’s ‘morning after the night before eyeliner’ — then she left it off at the funeral, and suddenly looked very pretty.

Though you’d wonder about her judgement if she’s asking Perez out again just before he goes to break to poor Cassie that her father’s facing jail (again).

ButtonSister · 24/11/2021 22:30

I hate the over used trope in drama of women getting pregnant unexpectedly - do none of them use contraceptives? (See also, every soap ever).

ChoccyJules · 24/11/2021 22:38

I thought the Tosh actress might have had a small bump earlier on this series but presumably not, unless they have carried on and filmed the next one already? There was a previous season the actress was hiding a pregnancy behind ever-growing bags and files.

Liked the doorbell thing but it was an obvious lightbulb moment when his Dad finished talking, we knew then what had happened (although I briefly thought it was the daughter).

Maybe given the way it ended they are going to continue fairly soon.

Faevern · 24/11/2021 22:45

Well what’s the chances of everyone suddenly remembering or confessing in the last 40 minutes and what proof do they have and was the point in the drug dealing story? I just found that episode a bit meh.

GinnyMackesy · 24/11/2021 22:46

I knew it!

For a pp - it was Niven who killed Sister Carolyn.

Series 7 is coming along next year.

GinnyMackesy · 24/11/2021 22:49

Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practice to deceive.

muldersspeedos · 24/11/2021 22:50

And to cap it all Sandi is still a shite copper!

SirSamuelVimes · 24/11/2021 22:55

@muldersspeedos

And to cap it all Sandi is still a shite copper!
And the only one left at this rate - Jimmy will be out of a job / in prison and Tosh will be on maternity leave!
GinnyMackesy · 24/11/2021 22:59

The nurse is nothing if not persistent with Jimmy, we have to give her that.

As well as giving the knock/doorbell clue, I liked it when Jimmy's father said he didn't want to live with him!

Leftbutcameback · 24/11/2021 23:04

I loved the bit with Jimmy's dad - when he said he was going to visit Mary's grave, and then talked about missing her. It was very moving.

I'm surprised they arrested Jimmy for assisting suicide rather than perverting the cause of justice - they must think he's very involved (I think I got that right?)

RAFHercules · 24/11/2021 23:07

Yes that was brilliant! To be fair I'd not want to live with my adult kids either (and they aren't miserable buggers like Perez)

Lunde · 24/11/2021 23:28

To be fair Perez has a lot to be miserable about
  • his wife died
  • he had to bring up Cassie because bio dad Duncan wasn't capable as a Disney dad
  • his mum died recently
  • his dad's got dementia
  • his mate Duncan bumped off Donna Killick
  • Donna has framed them both for murder
  • he is crap at relationships - his last date was a human smuggler
  • work is a catastrophe - too many murders, Sandy's crap. Tosh is pregnant and Perez has just been arrested
  • there was no cake fridge in this episode

He may be joining Logan for a MH evaluation

AgedVellum · 24/11/2021 23:29

For series seven, Billy is going to have to get himself a promotion, a pea coat and a jumper, and practice his smirk, while Perez clears his name. A very pregnant Tosh will save the day in some tight spot like Olivia Colman’s character in The Night Manager, aided by Cassie, who will smash a miscreant over the head with a wine bottle. Sandy will leak things and be a bit useless, but his waist will look even teeny-tinier next to Tosh’s bump.

GinnyMackesy · 24/11/2021 23:32

Whatever happens next series, I trust the Cake Fridge will have a starring role.

AgedVellum · 24/11/2021 23:33

It could scrub the tiles in the cell if it’s having a quiet episode.
LadyEloise1 · 24/11/2021 23:35

Who killed Sr Carolyn?

GinnyMackesy · 24/11/2021 23:40

The sponge cakes would come in useful then, @AgedVellum

ScrambledSmegs · 24/11/2021 23:44

@LadyEloise1

Who killed Sr Carolyn?
It was Niven Guthrie, in order to protect Eve.
longtompot · 24/11/2021 23:57

I felt it was a bit of a weak murder plot just to carry 'Donnas revenge' on Perez & Duncan. I wish he read the letter before posting but he is just far to trusting gulible
Anyone know when the next series is out? I feel.its going to be a frustrating one. I wonder if Donnas nurse aka Perezs love interest will be a key witness to Donnas manipulative ways?
Sad the cake fridge wasn't in it. Surely they drove down enough quiet roads?

Graffittiunderpass · 25/11/2021 00:08

Season 7 is currently being filmed. I follow Julie Graham on Instagram and she's back filming as Rhonda.

Rhannion · 25/11/2021 00:09

Oooooh that’s great news, I like Julie Graham

Rhannion · 25/11/2021 00:10

Maybe it will be on by February by the time they film and edit it, something to look forward too.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 25/11/2021 06:18

Well, that was a cliffhanger of an ending wasn't it?

Poor Jimmy, Duncan, and Tosh even (she looked less than happy about her positive pregnancy test didn't she?).

motherofgodhaudyerwheesht · 25/11/2021 06:37

I suspect there's a thin line between finales that leave viewers engaged and keen for more and finales stuffed with unresolved plot lines and a team desperate for a recommission. In Shetland's case the thin line was crossed as clearly as that pregnancy test.( successfully it seems as s7 is already in the bag)

I enjoyed it but wish it could decide whether it was whimsical Hamish MacBeth-Esque entertainment or Fair Isle Noir, it gravitates between both. Think that's a lot to do with the lilting Celtic soundtrack too. Never mind, the mobile face of Tosh will launch a thousand useful memes for varying levels of dissatisfaction, contempt, confusion and generally having the hump!
