I’ve just finished the Season and I’m really not sure what I think! I knew he wanted to get away from Love but to abandon the baby and murder her plus how many times can be feasibly keep killing people? Plus I’m not sure the librarian lady was even nice enough for us to understand why she became his fixation. Anyone else have any views?

Pretty disappointed in this season! Nothing new, nothing shocking. Just the same rehashed story. Not sure what season 4 will look like when they seemed to be scrapping the barrel for ideas for season 3!

Thanks for starting a spoiler thread! Dying to talk about it Grin

I wanted Love to survive of the two of them.

I thought the way he escaped was such a cop out. And if he had taken the antidote, that means that whole time he was lying there was him playing along? Which just seems like bollocks. Grrrr. Hated it.

I did really enjoy the season otherwise, ridiculous as it was Grin.

I was quite glad Cary and Sherry escaped.

Plus I’m not sure the librarian lady was even nice enough for us to understand why she became his fixation I don't think the object of the fixation matters to him really, the fixation is the thing.

PineappleIceCream · 19/10/2021 11:59

@category12 I thought that too, it was weird that he played along. Then I wondered whether the antidote took some time to work so he was actually on the floor for awhile and actually couldn’t move until it kicked in. Hardly a master plan though as she could have done anything whilst he was incapacitated on the floor!

Dreamingofbeergardens · 19/10/2021 12:22

How did he manage to get to Paris when he is meant to be dead? It seems ridiculous.
Also his links to Beck would surely make people suspicious? Confused

Dreamingofbeergardens · 19/10/2021 12:23

As in everyone thinks he is dead!

I guess no-one would be checking for his passport as he was presumed dead at the house? Passports don't expire as soon as you are pronounced dead, the systems just aren't joined up enough for that.

The only way he will be found in Paris is if someone in authority gets suspicious that he is still alive and checks flight manifests...

(I thought the same thing and have been trying to justify it)

Yes, I guess that's an explanation but I always think of adrenalin being pretty instantaneous in effect from other movies/tv. Which could of course be wrong Grin.

If she'd had any sense she'd have stoved his head in the moment he was on the ground.

MareofBeasttown · 19/10/2021 19:01

Ah I was looking for this thread; didn't want to spoil it for other people.
Found this season truly silly. I know no one watches You for realism, but come on!

Why did they kill Natalie off after one episode? Just doesn't make sense that Love was so unhinged.
Why would Joe agree to swinging when his life was already so complicated?
Why did he put his toes in a pie?!!!
Why would he abandon Henry after spending the whole season talking about him?
Why do all the women have sex wearing so many clothes that they seem prepared for a mild winter ? (maybe the actresses insisted on it, but it looked a bit odd)
Why would Joe let Love dose him with aconite on the basis that he had an antidote? Seems terribly risky. She could have taken his head off

MareofBeasttown · 19/10/2021 19:07

I am glad Love died. I found it ridiculous that Joe would go on protecting her and covering up her messes. She was such an incompetent crybaby.

category12 · 19/10/2021 19:11

Toes in the pie for DNA so he could fake his own death.

Oh yes, I got that bit but he could have just left them lying around? Or he wanted to blacken Love's name further and make her even appear to be even crazier than she was?

I felt sorry for poor Dottie.

category12 · 19/10/2021 19:17

Oh yeah, sorry, I think it was to imply she was baking people and potentially feeding them to the neighbourhood to make her a legendary killer or something. To go with his explanation letter or whatever it was purporting to be her.

Which makes no sense if he cared about his son, because surely a lower profile of the murders would be better for the child.

category12 · 19/10/2021 19:18

And Dottie failing to get custody of Henry makes no sense either.

Dreamingofbeergardens · 19/10/2021 19:30

@ChequerBoard yeah, I suppose it wouldn't immediately stop working. Maybe next season he will be discovered.
@MareofBeasttown I was annoyed that they killed Natalie off so quickly. It felt a bit flat after that.

She had just burnt the vineyard down...
LittleMissGlum · 19/10/2021 21:30

Glad I found this thread.

Love was very annoying, she kills and then cries about it 🙄

Theo was also an annoying character, I felt angry at how, when he finds evidence, the first person he calls is love and not his step dad who is literally hanging by the thread to prove Natalie was killed by someone else.

I did wonder how joe ended up in Paris, but makes sense how the systems don't collate so he could have used his passport.

Poor Henry and Dottie.

category12 · 19/10/2021 21:43

She had just burnt the vineyard down...

Yes, and used her money and status to get out of any criminal charges.

No, she couldn't get out if it entirely, she had to go to residential rehab.

Highly unlikely to be given custody of Henry having endangered him in her car (with the taco girl as a witness) and having to go through rehab (again).

category12 · 19/10/2021 21:57

I guess so. It just seemed a bit nonsensical that he could dump the child on the guys' doorstep with a note and they'd get to keep him.

RevolvingPivot · 20/10/2021 14:45

Just finished it. Why do all these women fall for Joe. He isn't good looking. He's creepy and obsessive. I didn't think much to this series. Also can you be declared dead without a body?

Burnt0utMum · 20/10/2021 15:43

Finished it today. I enjoyed it but it's getting so far fetched it's putting me off.

Personally I find Joe , or rather the actor Penn Badgeley, very attractive. I like skinny nerds who love to read! Also has an amazing voice. However not attractive enough to kill for, like Love.
RevolvingPivot · 20/10/2021 18:15

I can see him being attractive but not in this.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 20/10/2021 23:03

I just finished it and am so upset Love lost that fight. So sick of Joe and his shit now. He had his perfect match!

Also, annoyed that the end of season 2 built up this thing with the woman next door only to kill her in episode 1. Did the actress drop out or something?
