I’ve just finished the Season and I’m really not sure what I think! I knew he wanted to get away from Love but to abandon the baby and murder her plus how many times can be feasibly keep killing people? Plus I’m not sure the librarian lady was even nice enough for us to understand why she became his fixation. Anyone else have any views?

Either Joe or Love had to die. And Love was psychotically fixated on protecting her marriage and family unit so it had to be her really.

I don't know what you mean about the librarian (Marienne) not being nice enough for him to fixate on. All of his victims are too nice for him (except Love). I don't think he needs to have a good enough reason to stalk someone.

This one really descended into silliness! I loved the first book, and think the first series did a good job of portraying it. Second book and second series kind of lost the way, and I haven't bothered with the third book. Sometimes a story doesn't need the follow up. The first book was such a good portrayal of a certain kind of toxic masculinity and entitlement, and I have enjoyed the series for themselves, but this one just became a farce. The amount of murders and the fact they evaded suspicion for so long given the amounts of their DNA that must have been over everything... I think Love was a bit hard done by in the end, I'd have liked her to win out over Joe. But now he will be obsessing over the boring Marianne...

I finished it tonight & really enjoyed it. Agree season 1 was by far the best & this was more farcical / black comedy but still good & still rooting for Joe despite his murdering ways Blush

@ChequerBoard

Oh yes of course that makes sense!

GatoradeMeBitch · 24/10/2021 14:47

The part where Love's mother kidnaps Henry, takes him to burn down a vineyard, and then appears at their house all seems to happen within 30 seconds!

And it's brief because it's just the set up for Love to ban her mother from seeing the baby, and for the mother (Dottie?) to seek revenge by telling Joe that Love killed her first husband.

If she was in that kind of mood, wouldn't she also throw in that Love was screwing the neighbour's son? But it was too soon for that to come up in the plot. That's one of my issues with season 3. You're practically in the writer's room at some points with how obvious the plot is.

It usually goes that way with a hit. The second season of Squid Game will definitely be inferior to the first, but it will get made.

The first season casts a long shadow. I still miss crazy Peach Sad

Just finished season 3. Wow!! My favourite season so far. I hate that I root for Joe! I can't stand Love, couldn't stand Beck but Marianne was lovely.

I cried when he dropped Henry off at Dante's.

Werehamster · 25/10/2021 04:17

I just finished it. I do agree that it was more dark comedy this season and a little silly and over the top. I figured out that was how it was going to end because there was really no other way to end it.

I will definitely watch season 4!

Penn Badgeley said that he gets loads of fan letters from women saying how much they are in love with Joe and how disturbing he finds it.

superoz · 25/10/2021 09:43

Just finished the season. Thought it was just getting over the top and the number of potential murders was farcical. The amount of DNA they leave behind too!

It was a shame not to keep Love in the picture, they could have made her his nemesis and felt they wasted her character. It would have been interesting to hear her narration a bit more.

Got a bit fed up with Joe’s constant pining and obsessive ramblings. I would rather they not renew another season if they are going to do more of the same.

TheVolturi · 25/10/2021 10:47

Ahhh I loved it even though its soooo far fetched and a bit crap 🤣. Definitely agree that librarian lady did not seem to fit the bill for a Joe obsession!

YourFinestPantaloons · 25/10/2021 11:13

And if he had taken the antidote, that means that whole time he was lying there was him playing along?

It said on the bottle it takes 45 minutes to kick in. So for the first 45 minutes he wasn't faking it

BeyondShrinks · 25/10/2021 12:10

It was adrenaline rather than an antidote, wasn't it? Adrenaline speeds up drug metabolism, so the effect would wear off quicker, but it would still effect him for a bit

Oh, eagle-eyes there Grin. I always thought of adrenalin as a pretty instant thing.

But seems barmy of him to take the risk it would take her 45 minutes to follow through on murdering him. (Double tap! Always double tap!)

Although she was a pretty incompetent killer throughout.

I also root for joe.

But I am a fixer in real life and seem to like creeps lol

Also cried

@soberisthenewpissed

I loved it, hated that they killed Love at the end as she was my favourite, looking forward to a new series, but where do they go from here?
Do you think we can be sure that Love is dead though..? I mean yes we saw her laid on the floor and then he blew up the house.. but I wouldn't put it past them to make a loophole and her have escaped to come back at some point.
covetingthepreciousthings · 25/10/2021 21:01

Apparently Love and Theo are dating in real life, it did amuse me that he is actually older than her too in real life Grin

Fabpinky · 26/10/2021 18:57

I’ve just rewatched season 2, Love was sleeping with her ex husbands best friend after her and Joe broke up for a bit. Maybe he is Henry’s father and not Joe?

Oh I'd forgotten about that!
Fabpinky · 26/10/2021 19:12

I hadn’t finished the last ep before I posted, Joe just asked and she said her and Milo used protection. Maybe she wasn’t pregnant and just said that to not be killed and then got pregnant pronto!

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 26/10/2021 20:01

Same, happy tears though. Henry is getting the chance he deserves. Unless Joe comes back for him like he implied when leaving Henry. He better leave that child alone or I will kill Joe myself 😠

Werehamster · 27/10/2021 00:25

I think they already did the killed her but she's not really dead thing with Candace. I kind of feel they ran out of juice with Love's character.

Werehamster · 27/10/2021 04:39

Also, it's a really minor thing but I feel young people don't use full stops in their texts. I've seen it in a few shows and it always annoys me. Surely no one texts "Hello."

ChequerBoard · 27/10/2021 09:28

I agree that Love's character is done. I wouldn't be surprised if Dottie made a reappearance though, sober after rehab and hell bent on vengeance for Love and Forty and the loss of custody of Henry.

Maybe she will use the Quinn resources to track down Paco and Ellie and fund them to bring Joe to justice.

bonfireheart · 27/10/2021 10:05

If Dottie does come, wouldn't be surprised if Joe tried to suicide her.

TitsInAbsentia · 27/10/2021 22:19

@valerianroot

I loved this series. I thought it was much more of a black comedy than the other two and I found it quite funny that Love kept killing (or trying to kill) anyone who in anyway annoyed her. Totally ridiculous ending but really the whole show has been ridiculous too. Wish they hadn't killed off Love though, I really liked her character (although wouldn't want her as a friend ;)
I'm with you on the black comedy vibe, very farcical at many points...possibly even a tad fawlty towers with some of the behaviour!

I still enjoyed it though, even the cringey swinging bits (sherry and cary pretending they hadn't heard at first was hilarious). I never get how women find Joe a catch but if you think about it he does a fair bit of groundwork to get in to their radar etc, they don't instantly fall for him which is fairly realistic.

I'll still watch when S4 rolls on to netflix.
