The Strictly chatter continues...

I thought it was lovely that Dan thanked his wife as she was doing all the hard work at home, while he had a nice time. The supportive partners are so often forgotten. Well said Dan.

The early weeks are all about picking off the bottom layer in no particular order

I'm not particularly sorry to see Katie go, but I don't think the better dancer won the dance-off. Heigh-ho... neither of them were ever going to make the final

I think neither Judi or Katie were good dancers. But the likelihood was that if they didn't send Katie home this week she would just have ended up in the bottom 2 every week.
Also, I don't want to get controversial but one wonders if someone has had a word with the judges and pointed out that if both of the first two contestants sent home were POC the show would cop flack for it.

I have a feeling the bbc producers thought Katie would have a decent enough fanbase from corrie.
I did think she would last least till the middle stages.

I might just be a miserable cow but all I could think was two minutes before Sara was talking about how great it was to do the school run at the moment and taking Aliaz along…. Highlighted the different worlds and expectations of men and women right there.

Well Dan is on telly at 7am or something, so i guess school runs are difficult.

I'd voted for both couples in the Bottom Two as I thought they both needed rescuing and I was a bit annoyed that others got, 'Oh, you made massive, glaring mistakes and weren't that good but I'm giving you points for your ickle woobie face' judging. I think the females on this show are held to a higher standard by the judges and the audience. I actually quite liked Katie's routine and would have put her through based on performance and content.

None of the Movie Week pro dances felt very Movie Week. I don't think they'll ever beat Gladys Knight belting out Licence to Kill.

Judi wants to be in Strictly. Katie didn't look like she cared either way. The right choice given they were both okayish dances.

I'm missing this series having an absolute duffer.

That must be really tough, you'd think for the amount of effort and money that gets ploughed into strictly really you'd need to sign a minimum commitment clause for training?

Dan earned himself a lot brownie points with me for his amazing work with Tony Foulds and the Sheffield bomber memorial so I'll forgive him a bit of sloppy footwork.

I think that actors/presenters etc should probably take a sabbatical rather than trying to fit it all in. It doesn’t seem right that some celebrities train for 6+ hours and others for 3.

Wow, if Katie was only training 3 hours a day you can see why that might go down badly with the judges, particularly when some couples are putting in 12 hours a day of training.

Although Gorka has had an absolutely easy ride with so little training time 🤣

@Elderflower14 no I haven't but I had the immensely privilege of doing a reading at the unveiling of a memorial to a WWII airman killed in the Battle of Britain to whom we have a loose connection and DH is in the RAF so the story resonated with me.

agree that they cant send two poc middle aged women home in the first two weeks. it doesnt look good, but katie didnt look like she was dancing
