Just finished this series - AMAZING!!
Has anyone else watched it? I'm in awe of how good it was.

Loved it. Can’t wait for the next series.

GingerPCatt · 02/10/2021 20:37

DS is 10 and said a couple of his friends have watch it. Is it suitable for his age? I'm OK with a bit of bad language and action movie style violence.

Blankspace4 · 02/10/2021 20:37

Can someone describe it?!

No it’s really not

It’s very violent

GreatBritishShartOff · 02/10/2021 20:38

I wouldn't let a ten year old watch it! It's extremely violent and has a fuck ton of murder.

It's bloody great.

Also watch Alice in Borderlands.

And WATCH IT IN KOREAN WITH SUBTITLES

Hoppinggreen · 02/10/2021 20:39

My DS is 12 and I am not usually too strict about letting him watch/not watch things but he was really keen to watch this so I watched a few clips and I have told him no.
It’s very graphic

DazzleDrops · 02/10/2021 20:47

Defo not suitable for children, lots of graphic violence.
Really hope there's a series 2!

I guessed the 'plot twist' early on - don't want to give any spoilers though.

V violent. Strongly disliked!

OhWhyNot · 02/10/2021 21:42

Watched first two episodes ds watching for the second time (in a few days) with me

It’s brilliant

No not suitable for a 10 year old it’s very violent and disturbing

Birdkin · 02/10/2021 22:04

@GingerPCatt as others have said very violent, some of the deaths are also very emotionally upsetting as well as gory. Definitely not suitable.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 03/10/2021 14:20

I enjoyed it and it’s rated only 15 so was all for letting 13 year old DD watch it but I have changed my mind once I’ve actually watched it. Far too violent and had sexual scenes in as well

fourminutestosavetheworld · 03/10/2021 17:01

I agree with pp - not just violent but upsetting scenes and very disturbing, including suicide.

kennelmaid · 03/10/2021 17:22

Brilliant series. The English language dubbing is terrible though and I would have preferred to watch it in Korean with sub-titles. When I tried that option I got all the descriptions too (as you would for deaf viewers), and I couldn't seem to change it.

Italiangreyhound · 03/10/2021 21:01

I thought it was good, disturbingly and also left a few things unanswered!

SpanishFly · 04/10/2021 11:18

I'm not reading the thread yet in case any spoilers.
Watched the first 3 episodes yesterday. I'm gripped and can't wait till later to watch more 😍

Not suitable at all. Lots of shooting, stabbing, killing, violence.
RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 04/10/2021 11:24

I loved it, it was gripping. There’s a discussion here about its suitability for children - it’s not suitable at all!

Watching with my 15 yr old son. Both obsessed, saw episode 6 last night and it broke me 😫, has provoked many interesting discussions into the nature of addiction and why people behave the way they do. I feel genuinely terrified each time a game starts.

No way. It's not action movie violence, it's brutal and intense. And it's psychologically disturbing throughout.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, as I've only seen three episodes so far, but I'm watching I'm Korean with subtitles- only 2 sentences have been in English so far
cleckheatonwanderer · 04/10/2021 13:13

@SpanishFly I think the default option for Netflix here is to show the version that has English speaking voices dubbed over the actors. I had this and didn't realise I could change it until episode 6 (at which point I think the over the top voiceovers had ruined it for me).

I watched the rest in Korean with English subtitles and much preferred it.

Are you in the UK? Mine defaulted to the subtitled version

Acerola · 04/10/2021 15:11

I didn't realise you could change it to subtitles. I would have much preferred to watch it like that instead of being dubbed

NurseButtercup · 04/10/2021 17:13

I haven't watched this yet, I'm not in the right headspace to watch all the gore. But I find it interesting how well the Korean directors are at psychological drama. I'm still in awe of how brilliant the film Parasite is, by Bong Joon Ho.
