Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

It is really cleverly written. Your feelings for them go in swings and roundabouts. Like last night I felt Shiv was the only one showing any real emotion.

Roman is definitely getting more and more horrible.

Re-the speculation in the Guardian article I think it would be really disappointing if they went down that route.

Dynamite at the end!

And considering Jesse Armstrong’s observation that ‘there’s a promise in the title’, alongside the mystery of the title sequence childhood videos - I’m entirely here for a succession twist in the final season.

TomelettewithGreggs · 30/11/2021 08:47

Feeling quite fragile after all the Omicron news, so may not watch. I find I have to be fairly robust to watch Succession. They are all so damaged; I can't imagine talking to my sibling that way.

freshcarnation · 30/11/2021 08:50

We recorded this on sky but the recording cut out before the end. Was there anything big happen at the end of this week's episode?

idiotfacelicker · 30/11/2021 09:07

I feel for Kendall actually. I know he can be just as horrible and comes across as having an inflated ego but I recognise crippling insecurity and low self esteem from a lifetime of bullying and mind games and emotional distance from his own parents.

Granted the same applies to Shiv and Roman but they're coping with it in ways that are no more healthy but allow them to keep going. They're more robust. Kendall is way more sensitive, although he would never want to admit that.

Not saying any of his behaviour is right but i suspect Kendall, more than his siblings, isn't a "bad" person and given the right upbringing might have had a better chance.

Perhaps I'm just too much of a softie.

WilliamofBaskerville · 30/11/2021 10:30

I feel like the PA that Logan is having an affair with is going to come into her own in a big way. She already seems to have a lot of influence over him. A baby maybe? Or is she aiming to become wife no. 4? Marcia won't be happy!

LiterallyKnowsBest · 30/11/2021 12:36

It must be very tedious to be the spouse of someone as rich/powerful as Logan. So many people jostling to replace you. One can see why Marcia has been at pains to secure her position in any eventuality.

idiotfacelicker · 30/11/2021 12:51

Looking at Kendall's pile of birthday presents I was thinking how the hell do you buy a present for someone who has everything they could ever want. I felt for his girlfriend (cant remember her name) and her crap watch effort and his crappy response to it.

Nospringchickendipper · 30/11/2021 23:27

I was wishing that Kendall would just take the money of his Dad and leave to find peace and happiness.
I don’t like Roman of all the characters I find him very immature.
I suppose they are emotionally stunted because of their upbringing

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 01/12/2021 07:08

The scene with Tom and Greg and Tom goes in to tell him they won’t be going to jail was magnificent. The Waystar Two 😂

But then his total come down from that and the way his mood dipped so low was fascinating to watch.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 01/12/2021 07:47

My DH reminded me that Kendall’s girlfriend is from a really rich family too as I was saying that I felt sorry for her that he was so ungrateful for the watch and maybe she couldn’t afford a better one. But when I think about it, it makes sense he was so disappointed not because it wasn’t good enough but because he wanted something more meaningful and personal to show he was loved and not just ‘another watch’. Hence him being so desperate to find the present in the bunny paper that his children made for him 😢
He is still a dick though!

MargotMoon · 01/12/2021 08:10

@Crackingowlsanctuary Exactly! Remember in the very first episode when Tom bought Logan a really expensive watch for his birthday and it went down like a cup of cold sick? It was clearly thought to be very gauche. Naomi's present to Kendall was about as impersonal as it gets at a point when he is basically realising that he has zero people in his life (apart from his kids) who really know and love him. Rava clearly once did, and still cares about him, but presumably his drug addiction made him the husband from hell so he's lost her. It was a brilliant episode in so many ways

Crackingowlsanctuary · 01/12/2021 09:06

@MargotMoon oh yeah, forgot about Tom’s watch gift!

When Kendall was throwing all the presents around desperately trying to find his children’s gifts. Just highlighted how it was all just more meaningless ‘stuff’. Barely anyone actually walked up to Kendall to say happy birthday… the only (few!) people that spoke to him were just there for business reasons. It was like most of the people didn’t even know who he was. Looked so tragic standing in the vip room looking down at everyone with that little smile on his face (at the start!). He can’t help but act like such a selfish, spoilt arsehole though, just like the rest of them. It’s like it’s all they know!

Oh god and the classic mid-life crisis jacket… the wardrobe people couldn’t have chosen a better one! “It’s my birthday! Fuck yooouu!” 😂

idiotfacelicker · 01/12/2021 09:09

The jacket, yes! GrinBlush

MargotMoon · 01/12/2021 09:09

I think I might have bought a midlife crisis jacket Blush But it wasn't Gucci and cost 1% of what that one did Grin

MarshaBradyo · 01/12/2021 09:11

I say this every time but blimey that was a good episode

Kendall broken at his own party

Roman gets away just with being gross, but acts so well I still think he’s great

Tom is so intense with Greg. He acts incredibly well but it’s like a coiled spring

MarshaBradyo · 01/12/2021 09:13

Shiv doesn’t like Tom that much not sure why she stays with him. Not that relieved over prison thing

I guess someone to let out frustration on which he passes to Greg

Crackingowlsanctuary · 01/12/2021 10:17

And then at the end he’s still shouting at Connor to take off his coat 🤣 there you go starting to feel sorry for him and that horrible egotistical side rears it’s ugly head again… all he cares about is that everything about his party looks ‘cool’… it’s all for show! 🙄

BonneMaman15 · 01/12/2021 12:40

Shiv didn't bat an eyelid when it was revealed that Tom won't be going to prison. As an afterthought she congratulated him, but it was so fake.

TheElvishQueen · 01/12/2021 12:44

I just fine it nauseating. I know they are al meant to be appalling people but they are so utterly corrupt and unpleasant. I can’t bear it.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 01/12/2021 12:48

Wanting the party to look cool was only Kendall’s exterior reason for the coat thing.

Underneath he’s setting tests for people (sibs in particular) to get them to prove their love. Come over to my side, betray Dad, do this random thing I ask, take off your coat. And it’s painful because people are constantly showing they don’t love him, and he can’t accept it.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 01/12/2021 13:30

The present from Logan to Kendall that Roman got in on - did he just jump on that after Kendall divulged what it was, so that he could pretend he and Logan were in cahoots about the shares?

BonneMaman15 · 01/12/2021 13:31

I wonder if it's a turning point for Kendal now. He did have the insight to say "this is so pathetic" at the end.
And something is brewing with Shiv. She's realised that Roman & Logan left her out in cold yet again.

thisplaceisapigsty · 01/12/2021 14:31

That was a brilliant episode, one of the best. I especially love it when the 'sibs' are all together and they are basically just replaying all the arguments they've had since they were children, except that the stakes are higher. It's obviously always suited Logan to have them at each other's throats. Do you think rich people really do have parties like that? It was so disgustingly egotistical that I can believe it, somehow. Do you think they will all go to their mother's wedding next week? It's called Chiantishire, so I'm hoping it's another big family do but this time in Tuscany.

thisplaceisapigsty · 01/12/2021 14:35

I think he might have done, just to wind up Shiv and make her feel excluded. He was so eager to open that card, it was so sad. And then the present that really was from the heart, from his children, just lost in the mass of meaningless presents from people who don't know him. Even the wrapping paper was poignant, little rabbits.
