Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

I didn’t know MM was with Keeley Hawes. How have I missed that? It’s made me very happy!

colourmebladd · 27/11/2021 17:48

Shiv is more about the optics - don't you remember her sneering at the other special advisor to the Bernie Sanders-type candidate 'Oh, it's about inequalities, is it?" She doesn't really give a shit about the policies

So why is she so anti-Mencken? (I dozed a bit and might have missed something Blush but will be rewatching)

Because Salgado promised her he'd bang her dad up in nick so she could become CEO - which she pretended to find funny, rather than massively exciting - it was mainly driven by self-interest rather than a sense of morality.

Just watched the trailer (obvs don’t watch if you don’t want to know!)

and counting down the hours …

So frustrating; really want to watch as soon as it’s available at around 2am, but have Zoom meetings in the morning for which I’ll need to be vaguely awake.

Roundlampshade · 28/11/2021 09:41

Thanks for the Times share token. MM comes across as very sweet, doesn’t he?

MintyCedric · 28/11/2021 16:39

@LiterallyKnowsBest

I think it's safe to say I'll be getting an early night based on that clip.

There had better be some Gerri this week though!

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/11/2021 12:56

Going in …

Kaftankween · 29/11/2021 13:02

No one see. It yet this morning? It's quite some episode. The last 15 minutes are so dark. Every time an episode ends I just want to watch the next. Can't imagine how this series will conclude.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/11/2021 14:34

Well. That was a world of trouble. I see what Stuart Heritage meant, now.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/11/2021 15:04

Half an hour later I still feel all disrupted and discombobulated …

🤭

Roundlampshade · 29/11/2021 16:25

God, these teasers!! Shock

I haven’t seen the latest episode but I do get the feeling that something quite terrible is going to happen.

Me too! Hope to watch it tonight but we watch it as a household (me, DH and lodger) and it's like Avengers Assemble sometimes finding a night when everyone's in/not doing something online until late. Desperately trying not to read about it in the meantime…
idiotfacelicker · 29/11/2021 18:43

Just watched. A bit darker and less funny than I had hoped for. Roman really is a piece of shit. My earlier fondness for him is well and truly buried!

JustJustWhy · 29/11/2021 19:14

VERY dark and it got harder and yet more compelling to watch as it went on. Outstanding episode.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/11/2021 19:18

I felt sick after watching. Really traumatised, and couldn’t shake it off for a couple of hours. No idea why - just something in the writing produced Too Much Emotion.

WilliamofBaskerville · 29/11/2021 20:15

God, that was bleak.

Roundlampshade · 29/11/2021 20:46

Some absolute classic lines tonight.

But

Faaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrkkk

Claudethecat · 29/11/2021 21:22

That was very dark. Kendall was the loneliest person at his own party. Agree that Roman is poison. Poor Tom, Shiv clearly has no affection for him and was so indifferent to him, had no desire to celebrate with him.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/11/2021 22:08

From what I’ve read on various review sites, critics were only given these first seven episodes - so this must be the one Stuart Heritage was talking about in his Guardian article linked above.

Perhaps that’s why I felt so shaky afterwards - I must have been holding my breath for most of an hour, waiting for the Bad Thing to happen.

Tom’s alienation is becoming such a singular and powerful force. And it was so magnificently written - all those seconds of calm.

But oh god, Kendall’s little crumpled face - that was just too much.

squirrelnutkinz · 29/11/2021 22:18

Wow that was intense and depressing. The relief I felt when Kendall said he wouldn't go ahead with the crucifixion thing.

Where is the present with the bunny paper? Sad

Roman was hideous.

Roundlampshade · 29/11/2021 22:22

Maybe there was no present? Maybe Rava got home and found she’d left it in the kitchen.

OrtolanVeil · 29/11/2021 22:33

Oh man. Yeah I don't know why this felt so bleak.
The Madison guy seemed to make the whole thing worse but I guess they were all bad enough anyway.
Still had lots of funny bits!

Catflapkitkat · 30/11/2021 05:27

Kendall singing Billy Joel - I still haven't recovered from his Logan Roy rap when they were in Scotland.

Loved the newspaper headlines though - if you could, you would wouldn't you.

Roundlampshade · 30/11/2021 07:12

Just read The Guardian critique.

Kendall, get your pen out NOW!

MintyCedric · 30/11/2021 08:15

Honestly I spent the entire episode wondering what goes on in Kendall's head.

He's so delusional, he's ego is massively inflated, he's as unkind as the rest of them in his own way and won't take advice even though he's incapable of reading the room and make a decent decision on his own.

I did feel a bit sorry for him at the end but equally a bit of self-realisation and growing up would help him no end, although I doubt it'll happen.

Logan's card was horrible but hardly surprising, and Roman...he was a shit, particularly at the end but he's still the funniest character in it for me.

I actually felt the most sympathy for Tom, and warmed to Greg a little...both of which I never saw coming.

It's so cleverly written.
