Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

Ooh, I enjoyed that. Is there going to be a Shivexit, along with Tom?

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 22/11/2021 22:55

I'm really disappointed in Romulus.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 23/11/2021 06:07

Homoerotic vibes in the bathrooms scene.

So much! Slightly confusing because I wasn’t sure if that’s what the writers intended. I mean, there was heavy flirting - but it was more in the body language - so the director is responsible. Not that it matters - but Roman seemed so completely at ease, and himself, during that conversation - not guilty and tortured as he sometimes is with Gerri. Curious …

Regarding darkness - was Connor coughing for attention or for about-to-die in the finale next week? If he’s not going to be President he doesn’t really have a role going forward - but Willa might be pregnant. Producing a new Roy would tie her definitively into the dynasty. (Wronged female playwright - the writers will surely want a good outcome for her.)

This is the best review I’ve seen, even though it skips the bathroom:

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 23/11/2021 07:21

I need to watch that episode again. I was very tired and a lot of it was going over my head. I also need to read a recap that properly explains it all to me 😂

Ulysses · 23/11/2021 07:48

Roman gave me the heaves in that episode. Greg went down in my estimation too, riding on the wave of white power. Tom was very astute.

Finale is not next week is it? There's Kendalls 40th birthday bash and Caroline's Tuscan wedding to look forward too as well. There were 10 episodes in the last two series, so hopefully 4 more to go thankfully.

You do wonder what direction it's going to go for the remainder. Shiv's having a fall from grace so could see her align with Kendall.

Claudethecat · 23/11/2021 08:00

There are 9 episodes this season, so only three to go. Maybe either the birthday or wedding will be the finale? I do wonder about Tom's ultimate fate...

LiterallyKnowsBest · 23/11/2021 08:00

Apologies - I didn’t mean next week! I gather there are nine episodes in this season. Which is plenty of time for Connor to succumb to whatever ails him. (I hope.)

Claudethecat · 23/11/2021 08:14

We are not alone in thinking something dark is going to erupt.

Claudethecat · 23/11/2021 08:18

Agree that Roman was vile this week. He has poured cold water (cold slime might be more appropriate, because he was very, very slimy) on my Roman-Gerri shipping tendencies.

Ulysses · 23/11/2021 08:35

The birthday bash is next week. Alexander Skarsgard makes an appearance too.

Oops, sorry!
MintyCedric · 23/11/2021 09:09

I'm glad I wasn't the only one picking up the homoerotic bathroom vibes!

I missed Gerri...even without the Roman situationship I love her character. Can't help wondering if Mummy getting remarried will tip Roman over the edge in that department.

Did anyone else think Tom was going to top himself when he came back from the meeting with Greg? I never thought I'd feel sorry for him but I did a bit.

I'm wondering now if that might be the finale, him killing himself just before Shiv discovers she's pregnant, having thought that carrying a new heir to the dynasty might be a way to get back in with Logan.

I didn't pick up on the Willa pregnancy thing...I hope not for her sake. Can't fathom why she's with Connor, even taking into account the money.

IntermittentParps · 23/11/2021 09:20

Roman seemed so completely at ease, and himself, during that conversation - not guilty and tortured as he sometimes is with Gerri. Yes, this struck me too.
It's interesting; he's been getting more and more assured (and has been right on some crucial things, like holding firm on the Central Asia deal that Jack was pushing them to accept), but now I think he's heading towards becoming a victim of hubris. He is clearly Logan's current golden child and it's gone to his head.
I'm not sure what will happen with the neo-fascist candidate, but I think it will be Roman's undoing.

Shiv won't know where to turn, I don't think; Logan is clearly pushing her away, but surely Kendall (at this point anyway) is a busted flush? BIG mistake him pissing off and losing Lisa...

Tom was fascinating this week. I can't guess where his story is going but I'm loving it.

Loved 'that endless salty gym mat you're eating' and 'Screw-top...' Grin

I feel like I need to watch it again with my finger on pause and the subtitles on. I know I missed so much sublime dialogue.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 23/11/2021 09:27

Oh, there’s no indication Willa may be pregnant - I’m just thinking ahead. Because she’s always there. And so far only The Enemy Kendall has provided any grandchildren.

Tom is becoming magnificent. It’s as if his likely imminent removal from civilised life (aka ‘death’) has freed him from the shackles of fear regarding anything else. He said ‘no’ to both Shiv and Kendall - he’s finding himself, discovering his own power to choose. If the Roys had any sense, they’re be afraid …

TeachesOfPeaches · 23/11/2021 09:28

How can Connor become President if his girlfriend is an ex prostitute?

TomelettewithGreggs · 23/11/2021 09:48

I am rooting for Tom to burn everything down, kick Shiv to the kerb and send at least one Roy to prison.

Ulysses · 23/11/2021 10:08

Wasn't there rumours about Melania's Trump's colourful past? Also Stormy Daniels. Russian golden showers. All very sedate compared with a wannabe playwright.

WilliamofBaskerville · 23/11/2021 11:35

I really enjoyed last might's episode. I was getting serious Jordan Peterson vibes from the creepy presidential candidate. I do wonder if Tom is about to snap as well.

TheHuntingoftheSnark · 23/11/2021 11:57

Surely Logan will be killed off this series?

IntermittentParps · 23/11/2021 12:09

Agree 100%. He is realising he has nothing to lose. He is understanding that people like Kendall and Shiv just play him and string him along. He's getting angry. Their tragic mistake is that they continue to underestimate him.
I'm eagerly anticipating a wedding episode that starts like the Ken Branagh film of Much Ado About Nothing and ends like Parasite/Pulp Fiction Grin
Also cannot WAIT for the return of Harriet Walter. And her hubby-to-be AKA Tommy Lascelles from The Crown

BoJoSecretGF · 23/11/2021 13:05

Oh, I thought that was Pip Torrens!

LiterallyKnowsBest · 23/11/2021 13:15

@TheHuntingoftheSnark

Surely Logan will be killed off this series?
But then the show would be ‘Inheritance’, not ‘Succession’, surely? Of course they could mean succession in the strictly royal sense (which may be the case with Roys) - but to me ‘succession’ suggests a handing over from one living person to another.

It would certainly make S4 very different, if they’re not all buzzing around Logan.

IntermittentParps · 23/11/2021 14:05

It would certainly make S4 very different, if they’re not all buzzing around Logan.
It would be quite purgatorial, I think. For all their ambition now I suspect they'd all be a bit lost without him.
It'd be interesting.

Ulysses · 23/11/2021 14:07

I think Logan will decline further but don’t think he’ll die.
