Kyrgios pulled out before the match so Andy beat a (not so) lucky loser 6-2 6-0. Next up, Tiafoe!

The vase is definitely one of the ugliest trophies in tennis. It's no Acapulco pear. . Didn't a player go to the vase factory once, or did I dream that? You would have to be very polite about them. I wonder if they got a freebie.

I saw that Kyrgios pulled out last night- what was that about?

I'm sure Andy will be glad to have a win under his belt, though I'm not sure it will be the best preparation for tougher matches ahead.

Actually, I think my gran had a green vase that looked very similar. She never used it for flowers, we used to play with it. I don't think she liked it much. .

It was funny when Andy Murray dropped the commemorative plate I think in China - maybe Sascha will leave it behind in his hotel room (I would!)

I have been keeping an eye on the scores in W-S, not really had chance to watch much. Andy lost, and Dan is still struggling by the look of things (Gasquet has been playing quite well this year).

I am having a wobble about the girls being back to school next week, and I am not at all organised (and they have had a really boring holiday, and we have done nothing , I feel guilty about it).

US Open starts Monday- I keep checking to see if Djok has withdrawn (ever hopeful) - would be nice .
