I also can’t believe it’s nearly September - we’re supposed to be going to Mallorca in just over a week (postponed from last year) but I’m sort of in denial about what we need to do to travel

Although I’ve just realised that Rafa might be there - could be some stalking opportunities

Interesting about Serena- I was only reading something yesterday that suggested it would be her best chance of winning this year because all the focus would be on Djok getting the slam. I think Serena's time has past, to be honest, but I am glad we will be spared constant commentary on '24' slams and being a mother ..

Sad about Venus though- I don't know how many times we will see her play now- although in my head, I keep thinking she has already retired.

Fizzy enjoy your holiday- you definitely need to do a secret squirrel and stalk Rafa around the island. He's probably the one on the big boat .

Raahh, do t beat yourself up about the kids. They are fed loved and housed. Being bored is not a bad thing to learn to cope with.

I will be home in a couple of days and house goes on market 2 days later. Am v excited and cangt wait to get thingds going.

Am using an ancient tablet for this and the keyboard is shot so excuse typos. Too relaxed to fix them!

Thanks magi- I get an attack of the guilt every holiday, but really even when I do try and do anything with them, it ends in grief and I wonder why I bother. Kids, eh?

When mine were younger they were usually quite happy to stay in and watch TV/play on their x-boxes - they can’t remember most of the places we visited

Fizzy DD2 has been re-discovering old games on her laptop. I've left her to it. DD1 actually left the house to go to the shops. It's been really hot today, and she insisted on dressing for the middle of winter, but at least it's fresh air .

Well, I've just seen the draw for the US Open. Djok's draw is interesting- possible matches with Karatsev/Hurkacz/Berrettini. Would be nice if he could get Struffed in the second round.

Murray has Tsitsipas in the first round. Which is probably not what he wanted.

RBA has unfortunately drawn the short straw, and got Kyrgios. If he bothers to turn up.

Ugh I wish he had stayed in Australia. And took Djok with him.

I wonder what form Stef will be in.

Not long to go now til the US Open - I’m not feeling very excited about it but I’m sure I will be once it starts

Dan Evans is playing one of the first matches I think with Murray against Tsitsipas at about 6pm - that should be interesting - Stef is a bit of an anti vaxxer whereas Andy is very pro the vaccine - there seems to have been quite a bit in the papers about tennis players having a low take up of the vaccine

It will be interesting to see what happens at the Australian open with vaccinated players possibly not having to quarantine and being allowed more freedom - can’t see Djok being happy with that …

Fizzy I'm feeling bit flat about the US Open- but maybe when it starts, I will get into it. It is always bad timing- just as the dc go back to school, and I have to get up in the morning (not that I'm sleeping much anyway).

I read about the Australian open thing, and vaccines- I'm sure Djok will find some way around it, he usually does.

I'm sorry to say that Tsitsipas went down a bit in my estimation when I read that he doesn't intend to be vaccinated because he's young and thinks it won't affect him Also, don't agree with him calling for oncourt coaching.

Gilles Simon has had to pull out because he is a close contact of someone positive and has chosen not to be vaccinated.

Andy made some good points in his interview, especially re the current restrictions in NY generally for those who are unvaccinated, as opposed to the freedoms for those who are. Also a good point about the spectators having to be jabbed/ negative test, when half the players aren't. It's up to each individual to decide if they receive the vaccine or not but if they are mixing with a lot of people on a daily basis, I think the decision is more about lowering the risk of infecting those around you. Konta still hasn't decided on being jabbed either.

Not sure how much tennis I'll be able to watch today but I really want Murray to win, however unlikely that is

I agree that it’s an individual thing but with all the international travel they do and mixing with other players - having the vaccine would seem like a good idea to me

Djok only pretends to be injured unfortunately - I’m still hoping that the added pressure will cause him to have a meltdown

Djok is just a snake- it will be interesting to see how he performs in the US- he was really not happy in Tokyo.

The US Open is always more about the food, than the tennis - I think the food courts are bigger than the playing courts! .
