Looks as if Stef is having a good birthday - his match against Khachanov seems to be going well

The Toronto crowd are a bit rowdy - they just sang a not very tuneful happy birthday to Stef but he didn’t seem too impressed!

Stef is doing well against Casper - he’s won the first set 6-1

DS1 has now tested positive for COVID - technically we won’t have to isolate from Monday as we’re double vaxxed but it’s still a bit of a nightmare - fed up of the whole thing! It wouldn’t be so bad if I could watch Rafa - will have to console myself with Masterchef tonight!

Fizzy it is a nightmare, isn't it? and the 'technicalities' are making it all so much harder.
I took dd1 to an orthodontist appointment today- that was originally made for the middle of June.- first she had to isolate (twice) then ds got covid. So- she's finally been seen. I hate the delays, because all the appointments from now on will mean time off school- and she's had enough of that.

I see Stef won- so Casper's run of however many tournaments in a row (?) comes to an end. He's not done badly though.

Sorry to hear more covid woes. It's never ending! DS is having his first vaccine this morning. He's 18 four weeks today!

Andy Murray has posted on his Instagram pics of him with silly faces. The first one especially looks like Delpo Talking of whom, I saw photos of him practising without his knee brace.

Good news about Delpo- at least he's practicing.

Weather looks lovely in Toronto. We are getting one nice day/follwed by torrential rain. It's a good thing I have no plans- because it's impossible to plan anything .

So- I am settling in to watch Opelka /Stef.

So, Opelka has gone from favouring the overgrown cow look, to dressing in a very dreary green.
His shoes are quite bright, I suppose .

I lke that Stef has decided to co-ordinate with the court.

Stef has taken long bathroom breaks everyday.

Hello Raahh sorry I’ve not managed to watch any tennis today but I’ve quite enjoyed your ramblings apparently the toilets are quite a long way away in Toronto

I managed to send off my PCR test earlier - that was very complicated - I had to build a box to send it back in with very minimal instructions

As if covid isn't bad enough without having to build a box!
We have walk in PCR centre literally across the road, and one at the airport so we haven't had to do postal ones.

Opelka has just won. That will hurt Stef a bit.

The loos must be in a different city, they took all their bags with them at the end if the sets

Putting the box together was a nightmare Raahh - I didn’t fancy the stress of a drive through test centre but think that might have been the better option - hopefully it will come back negative

Opelka seems to be doing well - at least Isner lost - not sure I could have coped with that final although Medvedev might not be much better! The toilet breaks will probably take longer than the match!

I might tune in just to see what music the DJ will play - still not sure why he was playing the Exorcist?

I didn't watch the second semi, and felt really ill over night, I think it's a reaction to new meds. I feel a bit woolly headed so not sure if I will last til the end of the final.

I've just read that Federer is having further knee surgery and will be out of action for many months.

Yes, Fed announced on Instagram today. His knee suffered further damage during Wimbledon (Thanks for the greasy grass, All England Club 😡)
So it’s another operation and months of rehab.

I have to admire his willingness to go through all of this. I think the tennis tour is like a drug. I hope it works and he gets another season, a chance to say goodbye properly.

So Fed and Nadal both injured. About time for Next Gen to get on it and win the US Open. At least make Djerk work for it!

Medvedev is really coming into his peak right now. Brilliant tennis all week.

Shout out to Ram and Salisbury, who won the Doubles in Canada today beating the brilliant Metkic and Pavic who have won almost everything this year.
Joe Salisbury’s returns of serve were outstanding and he totally dominated the match tiebreak.

I have just been looking at the schedule/scores in Cincy- sadly, it's raining, so no play. But I see it is Jannik Sinner's birthday today- 20 today
It's also dd1's birthday. And Madonna's.

And it looks like Sinner had a nice win on his birthday. Couldn't watch-not sure if he's established enough on the tour to get a cake from the tournament.
