I remember Emily Bishop dating a vicar but there were no shenanigans of a sexual nature.

Emily is funny character I saw one of the very very black n white ones and she arrives as young widow and stays in church hall. She must been only 30s/40s then but was talked about like old woman. Which suppose it was then by many respects. All rain Mac and hair scarf and timid.

Emily Bishop was only married once, to Ernest so she can't have been a widow when she first joined the street. Hilda was cast as an older woman but was 40 when she joined-same age as Meghan Markle (other attractive and youthful looking 40 year olds are available)

Emily did marry again after Ernest's death, to Arnold Swain ( turned out to be a bigamist!) but no, she wasn't married when she arrived on the Street. She was a single young woman in love with her boss! Who later became Captain Mannering!

Poor old Emily. And then Billy became her vicar. Tragic.

She was miss nugent when she started on CS. So not married before. I remember her in love with capt mainwarring too. Didn't she used to help out in the mission hall with ena sharples who lived in a flat at the back of it. Think you had to ealk through the hall to get to the flat

Ooh yes I'd forgotten about the bigamy scandal! Although of course Peter was also a bigamist in later years. I wonder who the next bigamist will be? 🤔

Beth married Kirk bigamously - but I think that was forgotten very quickly. They didn’t even bring it up when Tim turned out to be a bigamist (albeit an accidental one).

Found a video of her she certainly was woman of her age. Don’t get why Una is living in church hall but guess still housing shortage after the war.

Wasn't Ena the caretaker of the church hall, so looked after the building and had accommodation on site?

What happened to Beth?

In general, or in that storyline? In general, she’s still in the show, but the actress has been shielding, so we’ve hardly seen her over the last year or so.

In that storyline, there was no sign of any police involvement, and once Kirkie had forgiven her, it was never mentioned again.

I have absolutely no recollection of Beth being married when she married Kirk! Just goes to show how memorable The stories are these days!
