Billy puts his trust in God
But shouldn’t trust that sneaky Todd
He framed poor Paul - the rotten sod!

Two Corrie rhymes for the price of one Grin

Where is classic corrie up to? I need to start watching that again, it’s hard as it’s on in the late afternoon and ds is often fussy then. Plus DP is WFH and I feel like a lazy arse watching telly then. I have no idea why Grin

Christmas 1998. Des Barnes has just been murdered, Tyrone has made his first appearance, Zoe has just gone off with a cult, and the writers have come up with a tenuous way to make sure Adam Rickitt has his shirt off a LOT even in the middle of winter.

Adam hasn't been seen for a while. It's about time the scriptwriters got him to take his shirt off.

MotionActivatedDog · 11/08/2021 12:00

Tyrone has made his first appearance

I did enjoy young tyrones comment to young toyah the other day, he’s squatting next door to the Battersby and he told toyah there is only 6 inches between the two of them! Grin

Yes baby TY is about 15/16 and left to fend for himself. Interesting see how he gets to where he is now. Does he stay in it for next 20y or come and go?

eggandonion · 11/08/2021 12:30

@lavenderandwisteria I do a lot of ironing in the afternoon, or household administration, or matching socks, or anything really in front of classic coronationstreet. Or offer people a nice cup of tea.

lavenderandwisteria · 11/08/2021 12:48

I think I started watching it around 2003. So it will be interesting when that comes back on! I think Sarah and Todd’s baby dying was the first storyline I ‘remember.’ I had a DVD somewhere of 2004 highlights!

MotionActivatedDog · 11/08/2021 12:49

As far as I remember he has been a permanent character since he arrived with Jackie his mum. She left but he stayed.
Akire · 11/08/2021 12:52

Sarah has been once last few months and is about 9. Think new head arriving soon

I might try that. I can write shopping lists and just ... lists. Bound to be useful Grin

Starbonnet123 · 11/08/2021 15:28

I'm loving classic Corrie , we've downloaded a load of it and watch in in bed at night .
I must admit it was a shock when @WomanStanleyWoman said that Des had been murdered , he's in our episodes at the moment trying to have a relationship with Samantha but her husband has just turned up and Fiona had found out she's pregnant (Emma ? ) .
The writing is so much better and as others have said it more like every day drama rather than huge story lines .

strugglingwithlife · 11/08/2021 17:11

I've been watching classic Corrie on the hub for a while, it's much better then present day Corrie I think

Akire · 11/08/2021 17:23

Yes much better. Long story lines and little fun side lines. Like 1 Santa in cafe. Next scene 3 next scene 5 Santa’s. Just little comedy stuff that’s it done better than grimy Eastenders but lost that now.

Roussette · 11/08/2021 19:57

How the hell can they knock a garden up in 15 minutes???

Akire · 11/08/2021 20:05

Seems to much like the “garden”. already have half green space they sit chat hid. Don’t need another though maybe it’s covid outdoor space extra set? Can you grow fruit in small planter don’t they need very good roots. They going need a lot of watering!

Come in David cough up don’t go to jail when Shona did it. Your poor kids have been through enough

Roussette · 11/08/2021 20:42

So the policeman who arrests someone, drives them to the station, then does the interview with you at the station.

Like hell !

Lockdownlard · 11/08/2021 21:11

It reminds of the the Little Britain Dennis Waterman sketch “write the theme tune, sing the theme tune….”
Writers please take note - can you stop using Craig as the universal policeman, at every opportunity he is there manspreading all over the place with his mouth hanging gormlessly open, I am at the brink of fast forwarding any Craig scenes as well as the Gemma scenes.

MuddyStiletto · 11/08/2021 21:25

Dear God, the bottom of the barrel has been well and truly scraped
Is there anything Craig can't do?
Craig the detective?
Craig the dog handler
Craig could borrow Tiny and become a mounted policeman?

nildesparandum · 11/08/2021 21:28

Corrie is pure crap just now.Unbelievable storylines and characters.

eggandonion · 11/08/2021 21:57

I'm wondering about Tiny, where is he? I quite like Todd at present, he's a rascal.

ohthatbloodycat · 11/08/2021 22:40

Aren't Nick and Leanne a delight, trying to rip Debbie off like that Confused

eggandonion · 11/08/2021 23:18

It's cruel to be kind, Debbie is too busy. She has to run the hotel with the posh bar with the pyramid of oranges.

Roussette · 11/08/2021 23:30

Todd should've gone, his fake sincerity is pathetic, he does it every episode!

Clawdy · 12/08/2021 07:52

I don't have any sympathy for Debbie anyway, I dislike her as a character, with her permanently aggrieved face and silly strutting walk.

Akire · 12/08/2021 08:24

I keep thinking Debbie is going go off she is good actress why would she stay on street! It’s not like she’s had any decent stories about from one she first arrived.

Todd should have left defo. No one wants see him doing eyes at Billy for ever and Paul doing him evil eyes back
