New thread for us to discuss all things Holby.

OP posts:

@SoupDragon

She came in with a UTI because she refused to have her catheter changed (or something). I think she's been in a rehab centre,

The suicide attempt was when she was in Holby when she tricked Kylie into giving her her medication again when another nurse had already done it.

Thank you, I think I haven’t been paying enough attention! I did know about trying to get Kylie to over-medicate her but then I thought she’d tried to throw herself into traffic or something (no idea where I got that from).
SunnyAgain · 20/11/2021 22:18

@SoupDragon

Lucky counselled Louis when he was struggling with being trans - this was all before either of them appeared on Holby though.
Thank you, so it didn’t actually get shown on the programme? That’s probably why I found it strange that they seemed to be close.
SoupDragon · 20/11/2021 23:06

They referred to it when Lucky joined and Max hated her because she saw it as Lucky taking away her daughter. It has only been mentioned briefly though - I think this was the first time it's been properly talked about on screen between Lucky and Louis.

Anyone watch last week?

I watched it this morning and was trying to remember anything of note apart from Dom’s hideous moustache. I hope he’s doing Movember rather than that being an actual facial hair choice.

MyOtherProfile · 28/11/2021 22:54

I did watch it but all I can remember is Ollie leaving. And thinking he'll be back with a gun next week, in line with Holby tradition.

burblish · 01/12/2021 00:49

Am I the only one who just can’t warm to Eli or Amelia? The Carole storyline is very sad. I hope they won’t go down the obvious route of Josh getting into an emotional/physical affair with the physio woman from the bulimia support group. I liked Henrik’s scenes - I can’t remember if we have ever seen a tipsy HH before!

MyOtherProfile · 01/12/2021 07:35

No. I'm just not interested in Eli or Amelia. Feels like they were only brought in for this storyline.

SoupDragon · 01/12/2021 08:40

Eli hasn't been in it long enough for us to care I think.plus it's taken ages to get rid of the image of Eastenders from my head.

spiderlight · 01/12/2021 10:40

The schoolgirl revising for her GCSEs looked about 23!

There's no chemistry between them at all. Also, what exactly is Amelia's job, as they had her doing all sorts last night, and Eli asked her to help with that schoolgirl. Plus they had her in a few weeks ago when she came in with that young boy who was terminally ill.

I liked tipsy HH too!

The Josh having an affair story line they're hinting at seems very obvious, I really hope they don't go in that direction. They do seem to love Josh though, he's getting an awful lot of airtime.

SoupDragon · 01/12/2021 12:29

Amelia is some kind of patient liaison or mental health type person I think...? Maybe? They did say at one point.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/12/2021 12:38

I'm losing the will to live, watching this now.

Yes, totally think Josh is going to have an affair with the young woman in his support group.

SoupDragon · 01/12/2021 12:46

Especially as he didn't mention the stress of his newborn twins as being a trigger.

TrashyPanda · 01/12/2021 18:09

I kept wondering if it is a requirement for males in cardio to have matching naff haircuts. Neither Eli or Josh suit that style, Josh looks especially bad with the added neck beard that just sits there.
And of course Josh had to get a special round of applause. On account of him being a man. Literally.
And then Eli being so bloody patronising to his poor wife.

Can you tell I don’t like either of these guys?!!

Yup, they signalled an affair for Josh with blues and twos. I don’t think anybody actually believes he and Ange are a viable couple.

HH wonderful as usual.
And no Ollie, which was a plus.

SoupDragon · 01/12/2021 18:38

It was a very valid point about men not seeking help though.

DontWantTheRivalry · 04/12/2021 20:43

I’ve just watched the last two episodes.

The possible affair storyline between josh and physio woman would just be way too obvious a road to go gown. If it does actually happen then shame on the writers for doing something to easy and predictably shit.

I like Eli - but I think that’s because I liked him in Eastenders. I see the ‘baby versus treatment’ storyline is going to begin….because that’s such an original storyline…

Why did Sacha say his and Don’s friendship was beyond repair (or something to that effect)? I didn’t even realise they’d fallen out? Thought it was really shoddy behaviour of Ange and Sacha to be trying to offload the ‘who should tell Dom the bad news” responsibility. It didn’t sit well with me.

I liked tipsy ‘Henny’ but at one point I did wonder if a gay storyline was coming up between him and that surgeon man he was drinking with (whose name I can’t remember) Grin

The attitude of that school girl was vile - please, please tell me there aren’t actually teenagers out there who think it’s ok to talk to people like that.

Optimist1 · 04/12/2021 22:15

Why did Sacha say his and Don’s friendship was beyond repair (or something to that effect)?

Remember when Dom had the stoma, sued the hospital for negligence and then manipulated Sacha (assisted by Ange) into reversing the stoma operation? It's all a bit hazy in my memory, but after a miraculously quick recovery Dom applied for Sacha's job? I'm guessing all that knocked their friendship on the head!

This week's.... 😭😭😭

Is HH gonna have a gay love affair?

DontWantTheRivalry · 08/12/2021 22:15

sleeping - this is what I posted last Tuesday: “I liked tipsy ‘Henny’ but at one point I did wonder if a gay storyline was coming up between him and that surgeon man he was drinking with (whose name I can’t remember)”

It’s so going to happen!!

I hope Ange threw that physio’s “tall hot latte” all over her after purchasing it Grin

MyOtherProfile · 08/12/2021 22:18

That's what we wondered.

burblish · 08/12/2021 23:56

The Carole scenes were so sad and nicely done, I thought. Hungover Henny was hilarious! I assume this whole nonsense of Ollie’s head apparently being all sorted in a matter of weeks is because they don’t have any time left to let storylines play out properly (also explains why Carole deteriorated so quickly). I still find Eli stilted, Amelia insipid, and their pairing and storylines dull and trite respectively.

SoupDragon · 09/12/2021 08:07

Yes, Eli and Amelia just don't work and won't because there's no time for them to actually grow as characters. Eli has no fire or passion for the job.

SoupDragon · 09/12/2021 08:11

They can't go down the route of making HH gay. They did it once with Lofty and that was ridiculous enough.

It does look like the Other Guy is going to make a pass at him though.

This is what I'm hoping. Hell stop him, tell him he's flattered but no. He does value his friendship, a lot, and he's glad they've had time to reconnect. Then other doctor will A. Leave B. Get drunk in Albies and go home with Dom
DontWantTheRivalry · 09/12/2021 09:15

For some reason I think the twist is going to be quite a sinister one. I think Henrique is going to feel quite scared/threatened by Faber’s obvious interest in him….and I don’t think Faber is going to take Henrik’s “no thank you” seriously and will just keep pursuing Henrik despite how uncomfortable he is. Faber comes across as the type of man who doesn’t take no for an answer.

I foresee flashbacks to when Henrik was abused by his Headteacher and all those associated feelings of being helpless, scared, forced to keep quiet, manipulation and misplaced shame etc

I’ve never liked that Faber since he started….he always comes across as very arrogant man with a smarmy, unpleasant, unlikeable quality to him.
