New thread for us to discuss all things Holby.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for Ollie?

I hated the way Eli made his wife’s terminal diagnosis all about him and gave her no comfort or support.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/11/2021 16:23

Can anyone help me understand how the Ollie storyline played out in that episode? Did I miss a significant bit? As far as I understand it:

Ollie’s ex turns up as a locum and they argue - he accuses her of bad-mouthing him; she tells him he hit her; he says she’s lying.

We see ex talking to the police.

Another conversation between ex and Ollie - he’s remorseful; he’s spoken to police; he believes her; confessed to blackouts. She says he needs to tell HH as she deserves to feel safe at work.

She leaves; Ollie doesn’t correct HH’s misunderstanding of ‘hurt’.

When did he speak to the police? Why did he tell her she was lying in the first conversation but believe her in the second? Why did she leave rather than stand her ground and insist that he - as the abusive one - leave? (A)Have I missed or misunderstood something or (b) is this what passes for plot writing these days as so many of the writers have jumped ship to find a job with a future that everything’s being written by Jeff the security guard’s dog now?

DontWantTheRivalry · 11/11/2021 21:51

I’m still wishing they’d give him a hair cut.

The ridiculous story line would be more palatable if he at least looked as sexy as he used to prior to the messy straggles appeared on his head.

TrashyPanda · 11/11/2021 22:45

I think he spoke to the police after he told her about the blackouts.
BUT - as he is such an established liar, are we meant to believe that he did speak to them?

I’m guessing she left as she couldn’t stand being in the same build8ng as him.

I actually think Ollie looks better now than he did before. Back then, his eyes were more than a bit unsettling. The tan suits him! I was studying his hair (which shows how engrossed I was) and I think it’s artfully disarranged to disguise that he is thinning on top.

@MyOtherProfile

How old is Dom now then and how old was Ange when she has Chloe?
Ange had Chloe at 18 when she was going to uni hence why she wasn't there for her much initially. There's probably only a 4-5 year age difference between Dom and Chloe. I'd put Chloe in her 30-31 since she's completed most of her CT training and Dom at 34-36 ish since he's also repeated some years and Ange at 48-49 ish
SleepingStandingUp · 12/11/2021 21:38

Wiki said Chloe was born in 88/89

MyOtherProfile · 13/11/2021 10:13

Ange did well to fall pregnant so fast at her age then! And how old is Josh? About mid twenties I guess?

SleepingStandingUp · 14/11/2021 16:35

Don't women have a peak in their fertility as the menopause approaches as the body is trying desperately to get one last egg fertilised?

cittigirl · 16/11/2021 21:01

And this weeks award for stupidity goes to the person who wrote that Lucky would leave Holby in a taxi 🤦🏼‍♀️

BackInBlackAgain · 16/11/2021 21:02

Oh Josh, I actually had something in my eye when he was telling Ange 😢

TrashyPanda · 16/11/2021 23:13

We said that too! Nice to see more of Louis.

So fed up with Josh. And Ange. But at least we only saw her for about 2 scenes. Why is he getting more screen time than Jac?

Jacketpotato84 · 17/11/2021 21:20

I think they are making the most of the actors contracts before it ends. I can't remember where dom went either can someone remember?
I'm hoping some charactors end up on casualty, dom, Jack,Chloe, for example.
I liked midarni.
The storyline with lucky is interesting makes you value things we take for granted it's sad to think there are people out there not able to use their body's.
It was sad to watch at somepoints and if I was like that I'd probably want to end it too!
Really brave for still wanting to live.
Anyway I think it will end with Jack dying, although I don't want her to because I want to see her on casualty! Any guesses?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/11/2021 06:53

I'd like to hope that they 'wrap' everyone's stories properly. I hope Jac doesn't die but anything can happen in soap drama land!!

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 07:15

Did he actually go somewhere or has he just not been in it? I can't remember either! If he has gone somewhere, would it be with his mum?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/11/2021 08:04

I don't like the way that the hospital dramas have been chunking their storylines. So some staff members do seem to disappear off the radar for weeks on end. Dom will probably swoop back in shortly (even next week, now they've sort of resolved Lucky's plight).

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 08:19

I wonder if they've been doing it to reduce the potential for Covid exposure and to limit the numbers on set.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 08:20

I've noticed it with other programmes too.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/11/2021 08:23

I think you're probably right @SoupDragon. It doesn't make for good TV though.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 08:27

No, it doesn't. I don't recall it being like this before Covid which is why I assume it's the cause. Eastenders seems to have quite obvious "chunking" of characters and storylines.

Jacketpotato84 · 18/11/2021 10:29

After trailing through iPlayer I've found out that dom went to visit his mum Carole in her new care home. Maybe Carole dying of dementia will be holby's "big ending"
I get how they have covid in mind when filming, using same charactors for episodes and not having many new ones in,
I've even noticed that they had delroy in a the guy who was in a few episodes, was then the clown in eastenders! Pretty sure they are both filmed in same place.
Someone tell me to get a life haha.
Least we still got casualty to watch after this is finished

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 10:42

I don't even remember her going into a care home 😂

Characters I’d like to see move over to Casualty

Jac
Sasha
Donna
Louis
HH
Fletch
Jeong-Soo

Would be delighted to see the back of Josh and Ange.

Not bothered about Max, Dom, Kylie, Lucky, Eli

SunnyAgain · 18/11/2021 16:06

I’ve caught up with this week’s episode and was confused at Lucky being rushed in after a suicide attempt… had we been shown the build-up to this? I know she is suicidal but no idea how she got outside or what actually happened. Not sure if I missed something! And Lucky and Louis suddenly seem to be really close, when I don’t even remember them speaking to each other before!

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 16:12

She came in with a UTI because she refused to have her catheter changed (or something). I think she's been in a rehab centre,

The suicide attempt was when she was in Holby when she tricked Kylie into giving her her medication again when another nurse had already done it.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2021 16:13

Lucky counselled Louis when he was struggling with being trans - this was all before either of them appeared on Holby though.
