New thread!

Why would Canada send Serena back to Gilead? They want to prosecute her for war crimes.

It has the best soundtrack of any programme ever I think.

Faircastle · 08/08/2021 22:12

It is becoming more and more like the origin story of an antihero(ine).

TheSpottedZebra · 08/08/2021 22:12

@Faircastle

Hell is around the corner...
Ha, it is! I know the words and get the title totally wrong!
TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 08/08/2021 22:12

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

Pro gilead nutters. I guess that's inevitable :(
If they can love Trump well then.........
ElephantOfRisk · 08/08/2021 22:13

I'm at odds with most. I like this June - mostly.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 08/08/2021 22:13

I don't dislike her. She's not likeable but she's a brilliant character. It's definitely not going to end well.

SoddingWeddings · 08/08/2021 22:14

I think I'm the only one in sympathy with June on this thread 😂 I'm also furious about injustices in life and her life would have probably made me implode a long time ago.

Damn right getting angry is valid - It's also a recognised part of any recovery, but I guess with Moira so much further on on her life (plus becoming a parent to June's kid etc), she's dismayed by the aggression at this point, especially as it's clear June isn't done....

SoddingWeddings · 08/08/2021 22:15

@NashvilleQueen as the credits went up I wondered if the soundtrack was available!

Faircastle · 08/08/2021 22:15

Off to browse for a palate cleanser to recover my equilibrium enough to be able to get to sleep. I don't think The Girl on the Train is going to do it.

NashvilleQueen · 08/08/2021 22:17

@soddingweddings I downloaded one on Spotify but haven't checked if there one for this series.

The earlier one is great. Kate Bush, Mazzy Star and Leo Sayer!

Crinkle77 · 08/08/2021 22:19

I'm watching some old Celeb Gogglebox. Need something totally daft to bring me down.

WorldsBestBoss · 08/08/2021 22:24

Some thoughts:

Why does June still have her ear tag in?

Serena's bump seems massive

Really liking Moira's character

Feel sorry for Luke

Aunt Lydia sees Janine like family - they're almost like mother and daughter

OverByYer · 08/08/2021 22:34

I liked the scene between AL and Comm Lawrence , he really isn’t as benign as he seemed originally. He is a manipulator

MotionActivatedDog · 08/08/2021 22:35

I’m watching on catch up. Thoughts so far.

June is such a prick to Emily!! Treating her like she is guilty of something.

Luke shouldn’t have gone to court. He knew June didn’t want him to. She has been violated enough. It wasn’t up to him to say whether he got to hear what happened to her. It was her information and she gets to decide who hears it. He should have respected that.

Fred speaking out in court. Lazy writing.

Is it always raining in serena's cell or is there some
Fancy water feature over the glass?

SallyCinnamon3009 · 08/08/2021 22:57

Also this scene between Aunt Ludía and Janine is powerful stuff

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 08/08/2021 23:08

@Lnix

So glad June had a chance to make her victim statement...but I was a bit underwhelmed; it didn't get to nearly a fraction of the horrors she endured at the Waterford.
I suppose someone else would have described the set up of handmaids and the Gilead system, she just had to tell her own story
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 08/08/2021 23:15

@Crinkle77

What the hell is going on. Who are these nutters?
Jesus freaks.

Sadly it would absolutely happen especially with Americans in Canada

colouringindoors · 08/08/2021 23:23

Loved it!!!

GET ANGRY!

totally agree. I find it a bit depressing that people have stopped liking her because she's so angry/intolerant/damaged/traumatised. How could she NOT be?????

Just been reading comments from men on twitter saying they wished she smiled more.

EBearhug · 08/08/2021 23:36

They do that IRL, so at least they're consistent.

I think Serena's room has a water feature.

I agree

It's really refreshing to see trauma being portrayed in a realistic way, instead of June being delirious and running off into the sun with Luke and Nichole

SoupDragon · 09/08/2021 00:18

For me, it's not so much that she is angry it is that she is determined to make everyone else angry too. Her way is the only way and watch out all who stand in her way. The way she rode roughshod over Emily's feelings is a good example.

AlohaMolly · 09/08/2021 00:20

I’m really enjoying these episodes. Last week’s had me crying and so righteously angry and joyful, I found the script writing amazing.

This week, all I could think about was how amazing Elisabeth Moss is. Her face in those last few minutes was downright evil, there was a black light shining out of her and she didn’t even really change much, it came from her eyes and maybe the shape of her mouth. She’s out of this world good.

AlohaMolly · 09/08/2021 00:23

Also, I think it’s a really good way to show the trauma she’s been through. Moira get out pretty early on didnt she? And she’s like the beginning of the timeline. She’s fucked up but at the ‘talking about it’ kind of fucked up where you can heal through moving on. Emily got out later and is traumatised in a fearful anxious way where she wants to forget it. June has been put a week or so and she’s been in long enough to have had her past self burned away and all that is left is rage. Revenge. And if she’s burning, everything else around her will catch fire.
