New thread for inevitable disappointment when they leave the recoupling for Sunday.

@Puffalicious @Winemewhynot Sure, Aaron was pushing his buttons taking Lucinda for a chat and trying to kiss her in front of him. But Danny's reaction was not normal or okay.

He came off as both aggressive, in his angry response and how he spoke to Aaron. And emotionally abusive, telling Lucinda that the worst thing he could imagine is her mugging him off/rejecting him.

unique1986 · 19/07/2021 13:20

The drama last night still felt very fake.
Why can't they just chat normally and argue normally?? Why are the starts so slow mo.

rishisboater · 19/07/2021 13:28

Catching up... Lucinda straight up lied to Danny that she said to Aaron "I wouldn't kiss you while I'm with danny" she was being really flirty with Aaron.

Although she may have swerved the kiss, she didn't exactly say it was out of the question.

Horrible horrible feeling about Danny. I think it's going to blow at some point and they'd do well to get him out before that happens. For his own bloody sake as much as anyone else's!

I duno I didn’t read it like that, I think with the chat with Aaron he was trying assert himself in the villa. He’d just come in and some guy was trying to kiss the girl he’d just coupled up with right infront of him. He was trying to show he isn’t a pushover.

I think with the chat with Lucinda he wasn’t saying specifically her mugging him off but being mugged off in general on national tv. I don’t think he’s that into her and she’s defo not into any of them. I don’t buy into the she’s scared of him either, she loves the drama, hence running between them both telling the tale and then bragging to the girls about who to pick. She’s like the high school cheer captain times a thousand!

HugoToWin · 19/07/2021 13:37

I think Lucinda has more about her than is being shown. She's BA cabin crew ffs, she's surely not going to respond to the pilot's message that the plane is going down with 'reaaaaallllyy'!

rishisboater · 19/07/2021 13:38

I hate the fuss they all make when the boys make them a drink. It reminds me of when your five year old brings you a shit cup of tea and you have to praise their efforts.

It's really not worth more than a passing "cheers"

And as for all the fiddling about making letters out of food... are they 12?!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/07/2021 13:39

I'm not sure why but I seem to be giving Danny the benefit of the doubt more than most of you.

When he said "mugging me off" I think he meant "be dishonest with me/lead me on" - and she is doing that if she doesn't fancy him, isn't she? He'd rather know where he stands. At least that's how I read it.

Even if he's the dimmest contestant ever on Love Island (tall order) I don't think he thinks she's in the bag and fancies him unconditionally and they are going to be coupled up forever.

I don't know, maybe I'm a bit soft.

Zampa · 19/07/2021 13:45

At the end of the day, we're seeing edited highlights (45 minutes out of a day or two). We will all pick up on different things based on our own values and judgements. No-one's right or wrong.

However, I'm just delighted that things seem to be picking up. This has been the dullest series to date.

Eeeek then when Lucinda is clearly having a heart to heart with chloe, Danny can't stand it and goes and plonks himself in the conversation.

Nah, he's not right.

Rollergirl11 · 19/07/2021 14:28

@Zampa you’re completely right, people see red flags based on their own interpretations.

I feel like Danny has the potential to be a wrong-un but I do think it’s just unfortunate that it happened to be Aaron that he had cause for beef with. When he said to Lucinda that his “fear is to be mugged off because i have a lot of pride and cos then basically it’s game on” I do think he came across threatening and you could see from Lucinda’s face that she took it that way. For him to pressure her to tell him if she’s interested in him 24 hours after he took the risk and chose her when he knew that Lucinda and Aaron were getting to know each other doesn’t look good or bode well. Presumably he knows what LI is about. If he can’t stand the thought of potentially being publicly rejected why did he go on the show? Thems the breaks, innit. He’s deffo got bullying, nasty vibes going on.

Thatoldchestnutagain · 19/07/2021 14:46

Totally @Rollergirl11 she looked shocked, it's a game and meant to be a bit of fun for the contestants and viewers, but a social experiment, none the less

Bluntness100 · 19/07/2021 15:10

I think they are all products of their upbringing. Danny probably hangs with a tough crowd. His appearance likely singles him out for blokes wanting to take him on. So he’s used to standing up for himself. It’s his go to and all he knows.

I don’t understand why Aaron is pushing his buttons then backing right down when face to face with him. Then going straight off and pushing his buttons again. He can easily have cracked on with Lucinda and done it in a way as not to wind Danny up. Aaron knows what he’s doing. And it’s hugely passive aggressive.

Since the show began they have always said it’s respectful to tell the person whose coupled up that they want to crack on with their partner. Aaron knows this, he even said it would be rude of him to kiss Lucinda in front of Danny then tried to do it

Getting with Lucinda is not about Lucinda any more. It’s about which boy wins their petty war of one up man ship. And whomever wins, the other is not going to take it well seeing them together.

But this isn’t about Lucinda any more. It’s about the two boys and their dislike of each other.

FightingtheFoo · 19/07/2021 15:17
Gosh that's a nasty post from her former acquaintance - completely unnecessary

I’m sure she has, it’s not easy to get a job as cabin crew and she has her own online boutique. I think she talks so slowly and repeats things back because she’s trying not to give too much of herself away.

I really hope so because she is being portrayed as being as thick as two short planks. I guess it could be deliberate, after all other reality contestants have done well out of their (probably over egged) ignorance.

What gets me is all the boys come in bleating about how important personality is to them in a partner and then they clock Lucinda and her green eyes and that's it...

Monsteraobliqua · 19/07/2021 15:52

Tbf it was the same with the girls and Brad's baby blues

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 19/07/2021 15:57

Completely agree @TheRebelle she’s keeping her cards very, very close to her chest. Repeating things back is typical delaying tactics. Gives her time to think of a measured response.

A measured response that she never gives. I think you’re all crediting her with too much intelligence and cunning. You can virtually see the cogs slowly turning as she tries to decipher what people are saying. There ain’t nowt going on behind those green eyes.
babbez · 19/07/2021 16:22

@Winemewhynot

I think we’re all getting a bit carried away with the Danny is scary/possessive/thug/racist etc he’s a young lad who likes tattoos who’s being played off against another guy by a girl he fancies! He’s facing some animosity from the boys who will obviously back OG boy Aaron and doesn’t want to look a mug on telly. I feel a bit sorry for him, I hope the producers have support on standby ready as I can see a swift exit on the cards.

Homesite not even that, it's more the fact he sounds like an immature teen boy who doesn't respect a girls boundaries. His tough guy image probably does subconsciously play into it, but I'd still say the same if he looked different.

He sounds like he has a macho image to uphold is very possessive considering he doesn't even know if Lucinda is really interested- and by his own admission he has only known her

mrstea301 · 19/07/2021 17:04

Are they just not really bothering with the first look anymore? If it’s not on by about 4pm, what’s the point?

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 19/07/2021 17:25

@Rollergirl11 no she certainly doesn’t but I do think it’s her game plan.
She’s too young to understand the “pretty, dumb girl” act isn’t attractive, at least not outside of LI.
She had a career with BA, has travelled many places and now owns an online boutique. That requires some intelligence.

She would’ve done better going in and showing herself as a switched on, career driven young girl but I think she is worried that by doing so, people will accuse her of playing a game and only going in to further her career.
It’s backfired, but I doubt she knows that. The fact she came in the bottom 2 with Brad could’ve enlightened her, but she doesn’t seem of adapted her plan.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/07/2021 17:48

I've forgotten why it had to be Brad or Lucinda who had to leave?

ChequerBoard · 19/07/2021 17:54

They were the bottom of the public vote for most compatible couple.

Oh I know! And I’d be well annoyed if someone made me scrambled eggs and avocado and expected me to be grateful as I can’t stand either! Grin
