Of course, I'm not getting as excited as the woman on Eurosport, because I know Djok is a snake. And he will probably win the 3rd set 6-0.

Ok- I'm trying not to get too excited but it's 4-0 up in the 3rd for Sascha.

I wouldn't be allowed to say so on the 'Olympics' threads- for fear of being shouted at for my non-partisan views but that has to be the highlight of the games for me so far.

And Cilic/Dodig are now playing for a gold medal.

They are playing Mektic/Pavic- who are obviously the number ranked doubles players - and also Croatian- so it will be a tough match.

Fizzy there is very little chance of the BBC showing any tennis now really- with no Brits in contention, and Djok out .
Would be nice though.

The athletics starts today I think. I know when most people think of the Olympics (who aren't invested in a particular sport) they think 'track and field'- so I expect the coverage will be almost taken over by that from now on- even without a 'big' name like Usain Bolt in action.

There have been a lot of complaints about the coverage - and from the sound of things, the deal with Discovery extends to the next Olympics too. It's a bit rubbish really.

I'm hoping the loss of the gold medal (that I'm sure Djok had already pictured himself wearing) will be the start of a slump.
Well, I can hope.

I'm dreading the day the Beeb give in, and sell off the rights to Wimbledon. They've got it for the next 6 years. I'm already quite sad that ITV won't be doing RG anymore- the commentary was annoying- but apart from that I preferred their coverage to Eurosport.

Cilic is playing really well in this doubles match- they are up 5-2 in the second set, which I wasn't expecting.

I hate match tie breaks.

Experience in doubles is showing in this tie break, sadly.

Well, wasn't to be for Cilic and Dodig, but a silver medal against Mektic/Pavic is not to be sneezed at.

Michael Venus is having a good few weeks, Grouchy , I think he won in Hamburg? He was wearing a very interesting shirt, iirc. . Jane described him as looking like a 'cow on acid'. .
