I don't know the laws on surrogacy in Canada, or Australia come to that, but it seems wilfully obtuse to assume that a Canadian surrogate wouldn't have ended up feeling exactly the same as Nicolette about her child.
Self-righteous David is giving me the rage.

@Smidge001

I think Nic is a completely dislikable character. How she can act all surprised that 'the whole of Erinsborough is turning against her again' and make out as if there's no reason for it, I don't know. Has she done anything nice or acted kind in any way since she arrived? No. A total schemer every step of the way, with woe is me thrown in to boot.
Exactly. I always want to see her get her comeuppance! The deliberate handing over of the wrong baby was inexcusable.
MiddleClassProblem · 04/11/2021 08:59

I think she’s a fascinatingly manipulative character full of narcissism and entitlement. I like that she is not pure evil, we’ve seen her be relatively supportive to Levi for instance. But I love that we can never trust her. 95% of what she does is to satisfy herself and with Jane, you can totally see why she is like that.

I enjoy not liking her because she’s so rich in character, if that makes sense. Compared to other villains such as Finn she’s so much more watchable, or dull baddies like any criminal leading a resident astray. And then there are even people we are meant to like that I can’t stand watching, like Mackenzie, I used to hate Imogen, Amber, obviously Bea. It’s mostly women/girls they make less likeable somehow! I really like Chloe and Piper was amazing but they are few and far between…

NemesiaPinkLagoon · 04/11/2021 11:34

I agree, Nicolette is an interesting character and well played too. Paul said some awful things to her so I do have some sympathy for her leaving before the baby was born.

I have sympathy for David and Aaron too ("the boys" as everyone calls them!!) as it was really sad that the had to say goodbye to the baby they'd loved as their own. But obviously it was all a stupid idea right from the begining.

Well actually I have less sympathy for David, I can't really warm to him at the moment and did enjoy him trying to take the moral high ground about stealing the medicine back in the day!

NemesiaPinkLagoon · 04/11/2021 11:43

Also quite enjoying the "evil Harlow" storyline, much more interesting than anything she's done up until now.

It's quite odd seeing Paul-like phrases coming out of her. And the episode when she kept insulting Hendrix as though he wasn't present made me laugh! Interested to see what will become of her.

MiddleClassProblem · 04/11/2021 12:03

Yeah, she was so bland before, she’s going to be another enjoyable to hate one if this keeps going.

SleepingStandingUp · 04/11/2021 12:24

I like Nic.
The female characters don't always have much depth.

Come in as troubled brats then turn into loveable women who put up with all sorts of crap for love.

Pierce was a dick over Chloe/Nic so I was always team Nic on that and I refuse to buy into the defending of his infidelity based on Nic being a bitch. I also support what she did re necklace although it was a lame plan. Chloe wouldnt have believed her and Pierce would have weeded his way out. Her LEAVING with the baby I think is Also excusable considering how betrayed she felt.

I think I might be Team Nic over Isla.

It’s been an interesting storyline and like pp said I can’t figure out if the writer is pro or anti surrogacy.

My dd said that if she’d heard the story she’d just think that Nic was in the wrong but seeing it played out shes team Nic too. Something quite wrong about treating the baby like a commodity imo.

Rummikub · 04/11/2021 15:09

Bad Harlow is played very well and I have a visceral reaction to her!

Fenelladepompom · 04/11/2021 15:31

Paul was a lot to do with Nic leaving, and with the baby swap scenario. He's an utter bastard.

Crinkle77 · 04/11/2021 17:56

My god how frigging nosy is Toady. It wasn't so long ago he had a go at Karl and Susan for interfering.

Me too. I hated Nic and still dislike her but starting to feel sorry for her thecway David and Aaron are acting.

Yeah, especially asking in front of Roxy in a public place!

Although also weird the boys met the lawyers at their house when they could have been at the penthouse or somewhere.

It’s like when they have important confidential business meetings in the pub… And are then livid at being overheard.

DahliaMacNamara · 04/11/2021 20:07

I still don't understand why there's all the cloak and dagger stuff around Kyle, unless they're admitting it's literally impossible to keep anything private in Erinsborough without someone overhearing and letting it slip to the one person you especially didn't want to find out.

Fiddlersgreen · 04/11/2021 22:45

I still don’t understand what Georgia has to do with all of it and also, why wouldn’t he let Roxy go with him to get such important results.

Fenelladepompom · 04/11/2021 22:52

Wasn't Georgia an oncology nurse?

EBearhug · 04/11/2021 22:58

Or, I dunno, an office, like where normal people met lawyers.

Hmm, normal people... okay, as you were. Don't know what came over me there.

DahliaMacNamara · 04/11/2021 23:39

Which reminds me, which specialist hat was David wearing when he took a break from custody wrangling to interpret Melanie's Dexa scan results in double quick time? Orthopaedics, endocrinology, rheumatology, geriatrics...?
woodhill · 05/11/2021 14:11

What's wrong with Kyle, I missed yesterday and what's Georgia got to do with it

Rummikub · 05/11/2021 15:04

No idea about Georgia’s involvement but Kyle has testicular (?) cancer

TurdCrapley · 05/11/2021 17:26

I hope we find out on Monday what it's got to do with Georgia, it's bugging me. I understand why Kyle wanted to go to his family GP in Frankston but surely Georgia wouldn't come all the way from Germany for this? Seems very far fetched, even for Neighbours.

EBearhug · 05/11/2021 17:37

Seems very far fetched, even for Neighbours.

Are you sure about that?

Crinkle77 · 05/11/2021 17:47

Jeez the guy that plays Kyle is wooden.

Fenelladepompom · 05/11/2021 18:02

I thought he and Roxy were pretty good.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/11/2021 11:44

I got more "not letting go and keeping it all in" than wooden tbf. I don't necessarily think he's the best actor but I think that works for the stoic, not accepting it thing.
Poor Rox. She needs to have a houseful of babies 😢😢😢
