I've just signed the petition too. I just don't understand, I thought we had the most viewership in the UK. If we're not watching it, won't it eventually get cancelled completely?

From what I’ve read, channel 5 pay for most of the production and without them, the show is being cancelled. It’s not going to carry on in Oz either

Ahhh I see. I read last night that it was just being cancelled here so I was confused. All those people are going to lose their jobs, that's awful.

If they can’t find anyone the last day of filming would be 10th June so it would air until the end of August/early sept 😞

Does Home and Away get a lot more viewers than Neighbours?

I haven't watched Neighbours for years, since they started using that weird filmic effect to make it look American. It ruined the show for me.

This was not good news to wake up to. I feel stupid that I feel so sad but, like others have said, I've grown up with neighbours and have lovely memories of watching it after school, through my teens, etc.

I wouldn’t mind so much if Channel 5 actually made credible drama which they claim is where they’re putting their money. Neighbours is a national treasure.

I don't think you have to confirm your email for change.org petitions. It's mostly the parliament ones that ask you to do that.

I just heard the news and came on to see if you guys had too. I've been watching neighbours ever since I can remember. Watched it with the family when I was little, all through school (waiting for the kids shows to end on bbc), through my student years catching it at lunchtime when I could, as a parent.. it's literally been the backdrop to my whole life. (Sorry that got a bit deep).

Same here. I’m actually gutted, my first memory was watching Neighbours after nursery and I’ve always watched it. I can’t see who is going to pick it up though.

I think there's plenty of channels who would be happy to pick it up but none of them willing to pay close to what Channel 5 were paying, and that is what covers a large proportion of the cost of the show, so I think it will be cancelled.

I seem to remember C5 threatening this a few years back and it got sorted in the end. I'll be devastated if actually does end

I'm surprised how upset I feel about it being cancelled.

I've watched it on and off for decades, and now it's like a comfort blanket.

Switch off and curl up for 25 mins and escape into another world.

I would be bereft without it, but I don't think the outlook looks good...

Noooooooooooooo!!! I’ve watched it from the start, all through secondary school and Uni and again when I was a sahm (which just auto corrected to sham and made me laugh) and I still love it. I don’t even know why because it’s mainly quite shit but it’s our quite shit. They can’t axe it. I even like Mackenzie now!

Another gutted neighbours fan here, as others have said it's something I've grown up watching. It's my guilty pleasure!
I wonder how the viewing figures of neighbours compares to home and away - I don't know anyone who watches H&A
