Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

I bloody miss Arlene though.

I just want the dumbing down to stop.

I want explanations, demonstrations. A hint on what the non hoofers amongst us should be looking for.

I don’t want x island brother circle stuff.

There is enough of that mince on the telly.

I want to feel the dance. I want to get up and dance. I want to be moved. I want to know what I’m looking at.

If I wanted slavering over torsos I’d staple my eyes open and watch love island. If I wanted nan stories I’d watch x factor. If I wanted guff on your day job I’d watch big brother.
If I wanted comedy/slapstick/made up nonsense I’d watch CBeebies. If I wanted them hinting on showmances, I’d watch MAFS.

I know what you mean Sheldon But to be fair they do do demos ( that red haired guy and dark haired girl did some 2 years ago, sorry i've forgotten their names ) and Ian Waite did explanations about the dances on ITT.

There needs to be a happy medium between "fahmily" entertainment and more serious stuff, sadly the BEEB tends to dumb down too much. (that's what comes from them fawning over the youngsters, too many 20 yr old producers IMO.

I work shifts ppeat so ITT often passes me by. I have caught IW doing bits and bobs though.

I get it is supposed to be fun. But I, like you, would want a more balanced version.

All the channels tend to dumb it a bit. Which is fine I suppose if that is what the masses want.

@SheldonesqueDoesNotBelongHere agree totally with your list. I would also add that I do not want to see any CGI trains, animals and general jiggery pokery. I would go so far as to say I do not want Halloween or Movie week; the good dancers always get lumbered with some hideous costume or theme.

I didn't mind Hallowe'en week when it was novelty music, and maybe a mask and a bit more make up. Some of the more recent ones have definitely been style well, ish over substance.

I also don't mind a nod to the movies, but again some of the recent ones have gone too far.

I don’t need to see that either. Watching two dancers dancing on the edge of a skyscraper or on the precipice of a cliff doesn’t float my dancing pumps.

Come to think of it I don’t care for movie week or any theme week.

I would like to see half do a quickstep and half a waltz (etc etc) so you can compare and contrast like for like.

It is rubbish when they are all doing different dances as it isn’t fair comparing a crowd pleaser like a Charleston to a rumba or similar. 🤨

I did like though.

Although the storyline throws up some questions. Is Bruno supposed to be Flavia's dad? Much older housemate?

I'd like it like that too Sheldonesque. At least at the beginning — as you get closer to the end it happens naturally based on which they still have left to do.

I'd scrap Couple's Choice while I'm at it.

I don’t mind themed dances by the pros - just overkill for the whole show.

I reckon Bruno is her dad. Who was cross she came home early because he was doing a squaddie two step.

It was all too self indulgent.and people got to pick to their absolute strengths on dodgy weeks. It was unfair.

I thought so anyway but as I’ve said - I know nowt.

I've thought of another benefit of Anton joining the judges — there will hopefully be fewer leaderboard ties.

And it's nice to have a ballroom specialist again.

Love Anton as a judge (and really liked his ballroom) but I genuinely only recognise 4 out of the 'rumoured contestants' in the link. And Nicola Adams just because she was on last year's show! 🙈. Won't stop me enjoying the show though.

I will put this out there though. I found Nicola dull to watch last year. Really dull. Even if it hadn’t been for the Covid, I believe they’d have been on a shoogly peg anyway.

A gorgeous woman with a beautiful and engaging smile but a hoofer? Nope. Not for me. 🤷‍♀️

The line up rumours seem ok-ish, I'm not too fussed about seeing Nicola dance again but she probably deserves the chance.

I'd love Xand Van Tulleken to join the line up but not sure his health would be up to it after Covid - he is friendly with Gethin & the strictly gang as he's on Morning Live with them a lot.. so he could be asked.

A few could deserve the chance if it were down to illness or family problems though.

I think once you’ve been on the show proper, you shouldn’t get another shot.

I’m harsh though 😏

To be honest, I can think of worse things than the "drop outs" line up.
