Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

DD stood around with her friend outside the hotel where they were all staying on tour a couple of years ago and Graziano was her favourite out of the boys, very friendly, joking with the girls and taking selfies. And she reports he "smells lovely".

Amy was her favourite out of the girls.

I’m surprised that it is Janette but good luck to her.

I shall miss Zoe and Mr Waite. A lot.

I saw a short clip of Janette and Dr Ranj singing A Whole New World and she sings beautifully.

Oh is Ian Waite going completely Sheldon ? He only had a little role in ITT but it was fun. He'd be a better presenter than Rylan IMO. A damn sight more informed about the dahnce dahling

Señor Waite would be delightfully polite and JJ would tell it how it is.

I love Strictly but if James Jordan became a judge I would stop watching it.

I would have preferred him over Aleesha and Motsi all day long. Possibly the yahyah one too.

I don’t want fluff and flanter and Muttley laughing. So yup, I think JJ would be refreshing.

I like James too but doubt he would ever get asked.
I do hope they replace Motsi.

He’s awful. He is one of those horrible men who makes awful comments then says he’s joking. He shouts his mouth off about things he doesn’t understand. Can’t bear him. I know for some reason though a lot of people prefer to have someone like that than a woman. I don’t understand it.

I’d love to see. Arlene back. Someone who usually had something valid to say.

I’m sure he would understand Strictly and dancing though… so anything he has to say about that? I’d listen.

I know Aleesha danced in Strictly. I know Motsi was a dancer. I know Darcy was a ballerina.

For me - it was nothing to do with them being women. You know - me being one as well and everything.

It was just that I preferred Len and Craig’s opinion because they weren’t giggling, getting over excited or dribbling.

JJ would have a valid opinion. He taught and danced the dances. He would only get giddy when it merited it.

And 10s would be back to being given out when they were really deserved.

As said - Arlene would be equally welcome in that regard.

Please don’t make it something to do with denying women a place when it is nothing of the sort.

I think there is misogyny at play though. They got rid of Arlene and they way Brendan Cole spoke to Shirley Ballas was disgusting. James Jordan has form for being ‘outspoken’ for example he didn’t like the Priscilla dance, which most people felt was ground breaking. He is dreadful and I genuinely can’t understand why he would be preferred to the women judges.

Each to their own.

I would rather hear an honest opinion on a dance by someone who knew it, than Aleesha muttleying.

Their Priscillaa wasn’t groundbreaking because the actual Priscilla beat them to it.

His comments on his Twitter during strictly is what I wish they would say on the show.

If they got a woman in who would do the same, I’d be thrilled. Or another bloke. I don’t care.

I fast forward the judges now because a lot of the time they are slavering over someone’s chest/arse/sultry looks and cheapening it. Whooping and a-hollering over a mediocre dance and jumping up and down and saying 10 week 2 or 3. Having preferred dancers. It is a shame.

I'd like Erin to be a judge. She is harsh but fair and has an evil sense of humour.

In reality I bet she'd turn out like Motsi. Alas.

Erin would be fabulous.

My inner hoofer would shrivel if she turned out to be anything but wonderful.

@SheldonesqueTheBstard the Priscilla routine was groundbreaking for prime time BBC One. I think Jordan was also against the same sex pairings which is unfortunate.
I feel that generally women judges are for some reason held to higher standards than their male counterparts. Certainly that’s how it seems if social media and mumsnet are anything to go by. I think it’s really sad.

I’m pretty sure that women who had decent opinions and gave fair and consistent critiques would not be held to such ‘high standards’.

The reason some judges are criticised by me is because they giggle and aren’t judging properly.

I can’t speak for others.

I don’t want someone hired because they are beautiful. I want to hear a judge with something to say.

Maybe they are laughing and smiling because they are having fun? It is supposed to be an entertainment show. It would be boring if all the judges were serious.

I didn’t say they had to be miserable did I?

So Shirley falls short for you too. I see a pattern emerging here. It’s so hard for women in the public eye.

I like her. She brings a lot to the table.

I could just do without the swooning.

You will note I haven’t mentioned Bruno. Who is good from time to time as well. And I could be done without the gushing and giggling and swooning from him too.

I will not champion shows using women or men for their giggle ability when there are more qualified people out there with valid opinions.

Karen Hardy. Erin. Flavia. Natalie. They’ve been on ITT and have been marvellous.
