Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

The golden age of amazing strictly celebs is definitely over. We need to take what we can get at this point.

I'd be interested to understand others viewpoints as to why they can't get the household names they used to.

Maybe because it's such a commitment ? Or maybe because it's now seen to be a platform for unknown celebs? Where as it used to attract an air of prestige?

There must be a Call the Midwife actor available ?

6 men and 4 women so far. I think we're expecting 15 in total. And I think I've read it's an extra man this year. So another two men and three women I think.

I think we'll probably have at least one sportsperson. Maybe somebody with a disability? Maybe a musical woman, or perhaps another actress. I think there'll probably be an older woman and a younger man.

I agree it's a wonderful balance of gentle humour and poignancy, just lovely ensemble acting and storytelling.

I’d love Dina Asher Smith but I can’t imagine her risking further achilles injury. I’d like to see Laura Muir in it but it’s unlikely. Holly Bradshaw seems fun - nearly 6ft tall though!

Actually, Lauren Price or one of the BMXers might be good if they still need a younger person/Olympian.

Isn't it funny how we a view celebs though? As I'd have said actually the last few years have had some of the most well known compared to before, like Bill Bailey and now Tom Fletcher I would class as a very good sign up.

I always like the well known sign ups, but then I remember the year Danny Mac was announced and I would have written him off as I wasn't interested in Hollyoaks, how wrong was I! He's been the one I always rewatch.

@covetingthepreciousthings very true!! I think Tom Fletcher is a good signing. It's not bad this year. I'd love to see more household names, I am still holding out hope for someone from Line of Duty or Call the Midwife which I think is quite realistic! I'd love one of the girls from Little Mix but I can't see it.

I'll still watch and enjoy but I think they definitely used to attract bigger celebs than they do now.

The ITV shows like Dancing on Ice and I'm a Celeb have got better celebs.

We’re waiting for sports people now I guess. You’d also normally expect someone of Asian heritage and a contestant with a disability. The Sun say that there’s a male rugby player whose name I forget signed up, so assuming they’re right that leaves 4 spaces. I’m definitely expecting a female Olympian - Laura Kenny would be the obvious pick.

I wonder about Tommy Jessop, the actor with Down Syndrome who played Terry in Line of Duty? I think he’d be a good shout.

Looking forward to seeing Greg and Nadia doing a lovely waltz in tails and beautiful frock.

MamaEs Maybe ITV pay the celebs better! If I were a celeb Id prefer Strictly to sliding (and possibly falling over a lot!) about doing limited moves.

Ooh, it’s Nina Wadia. Pleased with that because I never normally recognise the Eastenders casting but of course I know her from GGM.

Nina is another one who is sufficiently famous for me. I know her more from Goodness Gracious Me. I'm basically chilled now that they've signed Greg.
