Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

Oh yes I forgot Anton! So it’s Jowita replacing Janette and Cameron, Kai and Nikita replacing Anton, Kevin and AJ.

This does suggest they’re going back to a full lineup this year.

In fairness, should be one of the newbies, rather than Neil or Graz. Maybe Cameron.
Women, should be Jowita and Luba, rather than Nancy and Nadiya.
Feel for Michael, Jowita's partner. It could have been worse if he was signed just to get her and benched like Chloe was with AJ; and Neil to some extent when they wanted Katya. Karen was signed before Kevin, wasn't she?
Nonetheless, a shame. I know they want options open, reserves etc but I wish they would refer to them as the troupe as opposed to pros per se when they usually have to wait their turn.
Kai was troupe last year and has done DWTS Ireland.
Nikita looks like an AJ replacement.
Jowita is a good signing. Michael might not be everyone's idea of eye candy but man can dance.

I would have actually preferred to see Michael.

Oh duh silly me!!!!!! Thanks Chessie and everyone for pointing that out . Definitely my POOR brain Schady (my excuse is we have an elderly cat who sometimes yowls nearly ALL night). If I have a bad night my brain goes to sleep in the day!!

James Jordan would be brilliant as a judge but I think he's probably pissed too many people off on the show to make it. I just want there to be a handful of celebrities I actually know of for a change. The last decent series was too long ago.

I didn't realise Jowita was small - so may well end up with a small male sleb a la Janette.
Nikita was out week 2 on Let's Dance. So I am benching him and having Cameron back.
All my predictions go awry in any case.

The only exception is Faye's Jazz dance everyone else's is crap

I don't mind the contemporary dances as long as they get rid of the 'faffing abaht' before starting their proper dancing (though of course if the contestant is a no hoper, I understand the need for it) It's ALL the bleedin' "special FX" and screaming audiences I find really hard to take.

@SunSeaSurfGin I kind of liked Anton and Emma's Theatre/Jazz.

Mind you, I'm not sure I should be posting here as I don't know anything about dance. I just enjoy watching Strictly. I think I preferred it when it was closer to the competition standard. I also wish that they would bring back 'Come Dancing'.

I know a little more than nowt. Nowt much at all I tell thee.

But I know how dancing should make me feel.

It is probably why I want more of the techniquey side of it to be yapped about.

I don’t mind some wafting. I loved Will’s waft. He moved me.

Most of the other waft is self indulgent showboating for me.

I get that there can be lots of work and technical elements. But I need to feel something or else it is wasted on me.

As I said, I know very little. But I know what I like.

@SheldonesqueTheBstard - Yes! - I'd love to hear more about the technique and the rules for each dance. I'd like to hear more about what they should be doing.

And I am a little wary about the contemporwaft as it seems self indulgent a lot of the time. But I wouldn't know if it was or wasn't as I can barely shuffle around in a disco.

Doesn't stop me looking forward to Strictly. And I enjoy reading these threads, even if I don't have much to contribute.

I am a squaddie two step kinda gal. I can break out a whigfield and do a bloody good Slosh. With a drink in I can do a John Travolta arm or Scottish country dancing.

But I cannot dance dance.

Strictly threads are fabulous because there are people like you and me. People who know technical things like musical timings as well as footwork and everything in between.

I am a terrible yap and I’m sure some would wish I’d foxtrot off (😳) but I believe the threads are richer for everyone’s contribution.

We all being summat to the floor I think.
