Strictly 2021!

Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? Grin I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

Yes yes yes Sheldon and Tyrdeo EVERYONE's got a point of view and know what they like, I love the fact that we're all on this thread and getting our opinions heard (even it's not by the effing producers Grin )

What a brilliant idea Tyredo they could actually REPEAT Come Dancing , they're repeating everything else Grin It would be brilliant to compare it with Strictly. The military two step would look a BIT dated of course !!!

Tyrdo There's quite a lot of stuff about technique on It Takes Two, Ian Waite and Zoe (both are not on it any more sadly) did a good presentation about the training. There was also a section called Choreography Corner.

Debatable but she does have 9.5M followers on TikTok so that could tick their social media star box for this year.. she also presents a cooking show on CBBC I think?

She has presented her own kids’ cookery show ppeat so I suppose she’s as much a celeb as some others who have been on it in the past!

I used to watch Tilly's cooking show on CBBC, she's quite competitive and sporty so might do well and would be a good signing. DD has made the odd recipe of hers as well.

The other rumour I've seen mentioned is a rugby player and I'm not familiar with them.

'Strictly curse strikes again' stories yesterday.. as new dancer Kai has just split with his partner of 5 years.. how is that even the 'curse'?! When the show hasn't started..

Talking of dancer relationships, I didn't realise Karen had split from her partner. She seemed so much better since she split from Kevin, as in less irritating.

It is a shame that the strictly curse didn’t make itself known when they decided to go rogue with the cgi/couples choice/dumbing down and unwarranted 10s.

Not to mention Tess going all googlyeyed and verbose at the sniff of any ‘chemistry’

Cannot read it as am too tight to pay but first reaction is nope.
She lost in the semis because the public were behind the top three that made it through in the finals - Jay, Georgia and Kellie.
Jay had a veritable certifiable fan base, Georgia had a sympathy vote for injury and her and Gio had chemistry/also a slightly overmarked VW and Kellie had the EE demographic plus a belting American Smooth. So good it made Tony Beak have to revise doing similar in freestyle and opt for a more dramatic O Fortuna instead.
The public had got behind Tony Beak having his first decent partner Katie in years but even that wasn't enough: he was bottom two that week as well.
The difference being that Anita and Gleb chose to reprise the freestyle cheerleading non-salsa which Len hated and Tony went safe with their waltz.
Even then she should blame Bruno.
He was the one who originally scored the waltz 7 and the salsa 8 but then voted to save Katie. Craig had saved Anita and wanted her for the tour. Darcey had preferred the waltz originally. It was Bruno who went back on his original scoring.
Don't get me wrong, I wanted Anita in the final but Kellie was better on the night. I would have loved a Bollywood freestyle to Mahi Ve and Gleb in guyliner. Alas, it was not meant to be.
But it had nothing to do with race. I don't watch Countryfile and don't think Anita had a huge fanbase initially but most of the public got behind her and fell for her and Gleb was new and entertaining. But the Jaypet Army was intense that year and the other two had a higher profile from being in soaps.
It is a shame that Anita said and felt that as it gives credence to the idea that BAME always go out before white contestants despite there being Colin, Denise, Ramps, Ore etc to disprove the premise.

I loved Anita. I do think that the dance and the established fan bases were the reason she left though.

The salsa was full of tricks and while technically good, for me it was showboaty and didn’t flow. Len’s walnuts were never going to be pickled.

Another one sad that she felt and said that.

I really don’t feel it was the case at all.

As it happens Anita Rani was my 3rd favourite that series behind Jay and Kelly. I thought Katie was dreadful, but Anita lost because of Gleb's awful choreography. I was gutted when she went, but it wasnt down to skin colour.
