Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

I love the nans and grandads.

But if I’m going to be honest I don’t need to be nanned out by episode 2.

Like most talenty shows, the weepfests and the parading of relatives is mostly unnecessary.

I want to see someone hoofing the sequins out of a dance. I want to see them delighted when they finally get a move right. I want to see people blossom.

I don’t need to see nans until the final. Sorry.

Love the fans, love the dogs, love the curly-haired moppets with the bright innocent eyes lisping "I hope daddy winth! He'th the betht daddy ever!" etc - but bringing out these big guns early in the competition is wrong.

Keep them in reserve.

I don't think we see so much of a dance journey any more. In the Good Old Days, Arlene and Len would be saying "You put three-and a half twirls in that and you get marked down because it's a three twirl dance", Or "Where's the raw sex in your fleckerl? etc, and they actually learned to perform within the rules of the DAHNCE!

Now it's all - "Ooh - we could all see you were enjoying that. 10 points" (Looking at you, Motsi) It's a shame - it's reduced my joy in the show (though I will, of course, still watch it . . .

Wouldn't mind Gemma doing it, if...

• she doesn't whinge and moan all the time
• takes it seriously
• doesn't try to create drama for publicity
• shows herself more than the GC persona

She could go the Chelsea Healey route.

Sadly, she will do all the above instead and annoy the hell out of me.

Personally wasn't bothered by Dianne's leotard though, same as I didn't care about Ashley Roberts contempofoofs. Same as I don't care about athlete Olivia Breen having small knickers to compete in. Women always seem to be judged more harshly than men...and Kevin, Pash and Brendan often had tight troos. Weapons of ass destruction, monkseal referred to them iirc

That's exciting news about the new pros. I predicted a while back that Jowita would become a Strictly pro after seeing her on The Greatest Dancer.

I don’t think anyone’s been lost from last year except Janette, but equally last year they didn’t replace those who left previously, because they had fewer celebs last year so didn’t need to. They’ve lost Kevin and AJ. Possibly more but can’t think!
