Is back tomorrow on BBC 2 at 9.30PM. Really looking forward to its return and hope it’ll be better than series 5 which was my least favourite so far.

@Giggorata

I thought it was a reference to Game of Thrones, the fandom and the ending. Loved it.
I listened to the podcast this morning and they do make reference to Game of Thrones.
GlassBoxSpectacular · 18/05/2021 16:14

I’ve not watched much of GoT (tried it, found it unbearable! Grin) so any references completely passed me by.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 18/05/2021 17:36

I think the reaction to the GoT finale was the jump off point but I think any show with a large devoted fandom works

Simon saying that two male characters should have ended up together because of one small moment definitely made me think of Sherlock and the fandoms devotion to Johnlock being a thing

All the fan fiction rewrites - I mean how many Harry Potter fics have Harry ending up with hermione (or Draco)

I thought it captured the obsession of fandom brilliantly

BohemianRaspbery · 18/05/2021 17:39

i loved this weeks episode.. am i right in saying that this is the 1st time Steve Pembertons character has killed reeces character in an episode

Theeyeballsinthesky · 18/05/2021 17:41

Also the wrath of a fandom when it doesn’t get what it wants. The sanditon fandom campaigned for over a year for the show ti recommissioned and it finally has been.....

....But without the main male lead actor who doesn’t want to come back and so his character has been cut. Cue social media being awash with hatred for him, his wife (must be her fault) insistence he was in love with his female co star and is too scared of his feelings to return, and people generally hoping his career goes arse up

All because he didn’t share the fandoms view of how his story arc should end....

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/05/2021 17:49

Haven’t seen thrones

But this was a better episode with A proper ending

3CCC · 24/05/2021 21:51

This evening's episode is hilarious anyone else watching?

CaveMum · 24/05/2021 21:53

I’m watching. Very funny but I’ve no idea what is going on as usual 😂😂

3CCC · 24/05/2021 21:56

Mumsnet got a shout out!

CaveMum · 24/05/2021 21:56

We’re not THAT competitive Wink

CaveMum · 24/05/2021 22:01

Oh heck, definitely didn’t see that coming!

InsideNumberNine · 24/05/2021 22:08

I did LOL at the Mumsnet reference Grin

SpringCrocus · 24/05/2021 22:24

That was a good un!

MrsMercury · 25/05/2021 07:38

really enjoyed this weeks episode. proper twist o didnt see coming

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/05/2021 07:56

Sorry to be dim.. but can anyone explain the ending..?! Was Felix (?) actually Dimitri or were they making it out like he was but he wasn't when the real Dimitri was shot.

I also didn't spot the hare this week, I was so pleased to finally spot it last week as I never do!

MrsMercury · 25/05/2021 08:10

i took it that they( the goverment) had framed felix for demitris murder and that iris had been an undercover spy all along.

CaveMum · 25/05/2021 08:15

That’s what I thought. I shall look forward to listening to the podcast later!
MrsMercury · 25/05/2021 12:17

did anyone spot the hare this week?

SisterMichael · 25/05/2021 18:39

I loved this one and I’ll definitely rewatch.

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/05/2021 18:43

@MrsMercury

did anyone spot the hare this week?
No Sad
Whylurkwhenicanjoinin · 27/05/2021 06:38

The hare was a picture on the side of the shampoo bottle that the hotel manager picked up in the bathroom, missed it first time around. Loved this week, she was working for the government to set Felix up for the murder of an activist his wife worked for, very clever!

NeedNewKnees · 27/05/2021 16:50

Absolutely loved the first one, found the second one too disturbing. I am not a horror fan - I'm a wuss - and I do love when they play with theatrical, narrative and historic themes. It's extremely clever and I find it audacious and refreshing. Zanzibar was my previous favourite.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/05/2021 22:59

I loved this weeks

Onv knew there would be a twist but didn’t see it coming till the hairdryer

As soon as he held that in hands knew he would be shot

Arcadia · 28/05/2021 21:10

Did anyone spot that Iris was Fleabag's sister?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/05/2021 21:31

@Arcadia

Did anyone spot that Iris was Fleabag's sister?!
