Seriously, it wasn't shit. It was a thoughtful and intelligent ending and probably reflective of realitity. Osborne off the hook, Buckells in jail, Ted's future uncertain and corruption covered up.

Very satisfactory. Thank you Jed for not turning it into a pantomime.

@ImAncient

I don’t have Twitter- does anyone have a link? Seriously thinking of joining just so I can whinge
Im sorry, have you just asked for a link to twitter?
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/05/2021 22:20

So yes am disappointed but hopeful that there could be a series 7.

stickyjamtoast · 02/05/2021 22:20

I felt asleep 5-10 minutes before the end!!! Grin I'm not exactly sure what time.

Unless a lot happened in last few minutes that was all a bit shite!

Tetherreached · 02/05/2021 22:20

Reflecting on it I think the message jed was perhaps conveying is that it's not about all the catching a baddie stuff, when the baddies are untouchable. That policing is political more often than adrenalin fueled. A bit of a departure though!

I agree and the mature side of me admired his message. The woman who just wants a bit of drama and a departure from reality on a Sunday night is fucked off though! I don't want reality! I want a bloody exciting finish!Sad

Yes lots of corruption at various levels - lomax might be good but has a murky past. Carmichael suits herself. Osbourne dodgy.

Fuck all happened.

As you were.

Tealvelvet · 02/05/2021 22:21

They hyped it as an exciting finish this may well be true to reality but it was a rubbish ending :-(

tecatea · 02/05/2021 22:21

The people who were disappointed what ending did you expect?

TheSpottedZebra · 02/05/2021 22:22

Agree, but I think it was meant to be a bit of a wake up call as yo how politicised/corrpupt policing has become. And how we're powerless to stop it.
EsmaCannonball · 02/05/2021 22:22

Well, that was disappointing and sort of perfunctory. Lots of exposition and events the audience never got to witness. We never got invested in Gail Vella, Laurence Christopher, Darren Hunter and Thurwall. It's always a mistake to centre a series on things that happen off-screen.

Jo Davidson was a bit of a cipher, all backstory and no current story and it was very hard to understand her motivations. She was certainly no Lindsay Denton. There was very little point to the whole Steph detour or the Steve painkiller storyline.

I kept on expecting something really clever to happen or a brilliant twist or even a bit of action but it just felt like a load of filler. The fan theories are more interesting than the actual storyline. I was more intrigued by one episode Danny Waldron than seven episode Jo Davidson.

WeeDonkey · 02/05/2021 22:22
@Cuntryhouse

Yes indeed there have been far better theories on MN , perhaps Jed needed to read a few and put on a better ending on for us.

Cheated , I tell you cheated!
Most of the theories on here were bloody ridiculous. I would've been disappointed if most of them had cropped up!

mynameiscalypso · 02/05/2021 22:22

It was very underwhelming but I think that was the point. Corruption is not about criminal masterminds and explosions and high speed car chases. It's about the ordinary people that are the collateral damage. Criminals aren't generally evil geniuses; they're lucky. Doesn't make for a good TV drama though.

SoupDragon · 02/05/2021 22:22

What a load of utter shit!

PomLikeTheBattle · 02/05/2021 22:23

It was brave not to be predictable.

ChocOrange1 · 02/05/2021 22:23

They should have ended it on season 4. I can't remember it exactly but they could have gone with Hilton outed as H, end of story. The whole "oh there are actually 4 caddys let's find them all" always seemed a bit forced and now has been a huge anticlimax.

TheMoth · 02/05/2021 22:23

Dh just told me:"Osborne was in that bloody play you made me watch that time"
It was macbeth. About 13 years ago. He wouldn't let me tell him the plot, so had no idea what was going on.

felinelucky · 02/05/2021 22:23

@CrumbsThatsQuick

How did Kate get into the back of Jo's transfer van without evil prison officer laydee in the front knowing about it?
Yeah, I thought that prison transport caper was the closest Jed's come to jumping the shark.
YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 02/05/2021 22:23

I liked it. No way were we going to get a neat tie up of all loose ends

cliffdiver · 02/05/2021 22:23

An exciting twist.
tecatea · 02/05/2021 22:24

She did know didn't she as Steve was next to her in the drivers cab

Zampa · 02/05/2021 22:24

I enjoyed it so much I forgot to eat my chocolate.

Tealvelvet · 02/05/2021 22:24

The wee donkey could have written a better ending

AnneShirleysNewDress · 02/05/2021 22:24

I'd go into witness protection for Jo's cottage.
