I think everyone was geared up to expect a death of one of the trio and now don't know what to do with themselves.

CrumbsThatsQuick · 02/05/2021 22:12

How did Kate get into the back of Jo's transfer van without evil prison officer laydee in the front knowing about it?

mermaidsariel · 02/05/2021 22:12

Absolute bollocks, this whole series. What a massive disappointment.

ValancyRedfern · 02/05/2021 22:12

They've definitely left it open for another series.

faithfulbird20 · 02/05/2021 22:12

@PeskyRooksRGT Yh totally.. as if she'd be that happy after being traumatised... I'm sure she'd still live watching her back 24/7...

Cottagepieandpeas · 02/05/2021 22:13

I think it was a good ending.
I think there is corruption from Osbourne downwards (or possibly higher than him?)
He and Carmichael have no interest in tackling internal corruption. Buckles was allowed to get to the rank he ended up in & was never questioned about incompetence or corruption....that’s got to be due to those above.

Definately scope for another series.

C8H10N4O2 · 02/05/2021 22:13

I thought it was good. Carmichael or Osborne would have been too obvious. It being Buckells was the twist

We've known since series 1 that Osborne was corrupt, just not the full nature of his corruption

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 02/05/2021 22:13

This cant be the end surely!

ChocOrange1 · 02/05/2021 22:13

Pretty crap ending.

I guess the implication is that Osborne is still corrupt because he allowed Buckells to ride through the ranks, but they should have given us something more concrete there.

I don't know why the Jo Davidson story line was even needed. This whole series was a waste of time. They knew about the "definately" typo at the end of last season, why didn't they do a syntax analysis back then and find out it was Buckells rather than wait for ... what? A fourth misspelling of the same word?

Why did it matter that Jo was Tommy's daughter? Why did it matter that Jo thought Fairbanks was her Dad? Why did Ryan even need to be there if Buckells was already in Jo's team. Waste of time .

RolloTomassi · 02/05/2021 22:13

Remember when it was shocking - murder of Jackie Laverty, Steve nearly losing his fingers, Gemma Trot pushed out the window, all the incredible Lindsay Denton dramz, Dot's "exit required", Roz and her arm, Corbett getting his throat slit. The tension was next level.

This series had none of it. Pilkington, with all his backstory, didn't get a proper send-off, and really what was the point of Jo?? All the focus on Steph Corbett stuff when we already knew Hastings had given her the cash, and why. It's always going to be hard to meet expectations but this really missed for me. So disappointed!!

Duvetstay · 02/05/2021 22:13

I loved Jo in witness protection in her fair Isle knit and matching girlfriend

Graffittiunderpass · 02/05/2021 22:13

Exactly
faithfulbird20 · 02/05/2021 22:13

If they leave it open for another series..hope they bring back Hastings out of retirement...

Rubyrecka · 02/05/2021 22:13

Anti climatic

BentBastard · 02/05/2021 22:13

Seems to me that Osbourne was up to his neck in it by protected by Buckles he's got away with it. Buckles smirk as he entered his nee cell and all the shutting down of AC12 by Osbourne.

The biggest baddy got away scot free

theneverendinglaundry · 02/05/2021 22:14

So so so disappointed

DH actually fell asleep watching it

tecatea · 02/05/2021 22:14

I quite liked the ending as it was realistic that corruption would be covered up.

TheWeeDonkey · 02/05/2021 22:14

Mother of God that ending was written by the wee donkey.

I didn't have anything to do with it.

Zampa · 02/05/2021 22:14

@CrumbsThatsQuick

They did the intercept under the flyover. Steve was driving.
motherofgodhaudyerwheesht · 02/05/2021 22:14

well, sorry, but I thought that was excellent and credible. TBH (lol) some people clearly wouldnt have been satisfied even if the IP addresses tracked back to Buck House and The Vatican and Osborne detonated himself in front of the media cameras. My pulse was racing, I stopped breathing and was gripped. Any anticlimax at seeing Buckells in the chair was a sharp reminder 'you can never tell'.

as you were fellas.

unique1986 · 02/05/2021 22:14

I had high standards but still expected a epic final with the usual anti climax wrap up in the last few mins.
Its was 57 mins!! That's a crime in itself.

Dirtystreetpie · 02/05/2021 22:15

Even Den of Geek review says the finale had an extra 30 mins of screen time? Did they accidentally not show the extra 30 mins this evening? Is that why it was shit?

Idbemonica1 · 02/05/2021 22:15

It's like Lost all over again. So dissapointed.

PrincessScarlett · 02/05/2021 22:15

Mother of God!!!!! No way is it bloody Buckells.

Agree with other posters saying about him shaking when Lakewell was killed.

I was hoping Buckells would go all psycho in the glass box after coming across as an incompetent fool.

I think Ted's speech to Carmichael was him imploring her to seek the truth and not let Osborne get away with corruption. Osborne's TV appearance was quite worrying basically saying police officers should be allowed to get on with their jobs rather than getting disciplined for every little wrong doing.

But bloody Buckells, I just don't get it, that he was the one behind the messages to Jo and in series 5. And did anyone spot the smirk on Buckells face at the end as he was shut in his cell? H my arse!!!!

DuckyMcDuck · 02/05/2021 22:15

Is it possible there was a better ending that they couldn't film due to COVID so they made this shite one up instead?
