Just came on the thread to see if everyone else was as pissed off as me with that!
Buckells?! And Jo walking off in a cosy jumper with dog and girlfriend was cheesy as fuck!

Buggerthebotox · 02/05/2021 22:10

I thought it was brilliant.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/05/2021 22:10

Can anyone explain who was the man who was pretending to be Jo Davidson's dad then? As they kept saying they thought that was the fourth man? Or was that the man who was in the prison..? Can't remember name!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/05/2021 22:10

Interesting "note" at the bottom of one closing scene that the Chief Commissioner has appointed close contacts in senior positions of the AC units.

tedsletterofthelaw · 02/05/2021 22:10

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName

Could someone give me an idiots guide to Buckell’s interview - other than “no one makes a mug of AC12” I didn’t get it.
They got info out of him without having to give him immunity and witness protection. If he failed to answer the question - no witness protection. If he admitted to conspiracy - no immunity. They cornered him.
ImAncient · 02/05/2021 22:10

I don’t have Twitter- does anyone have a link? Seriously thinking of joining just so I can whinge

poorbuthappy · 02/05/2021 22:10

Well yes. We never found out who forged the production order did we?

Rhannion · 02/05/2021 22:10

We needed a Kaiser from The Usual Suspects, instead we got Buckells!

MrsJBaptiste · 02/05/2021 22:10

Well of those 15 million that watched tonight, it appears at least 14.9 million are very unhappy...

AliceMcK · 02/05/2021 22:10

I was coming on to say the same thing @RolloTomassi.

It was a complete crock!

andtheweedonkey · 02/05/2021 22:10

@Snog

Mother of God that ending was written by the wee donkey. Biggest. Let down. Ever.
don't look at me. Grin

Jed obviously got bored. 🥱

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/05/2021 22:10

@Chrysanthemum5

I didn't hate it but who ordered the transfer of Jo? Is it just saying that corruption goes on and can't be stopped? So maybe a more realistic ending than an everything nicely sorted out ending?
I thought they said that they discovered Buckells had done this from his cell?
viques · 02/05/2021 22:10

@LizzieMacQueen

I think with the prison transfer both Lomax & Fleming signatures were forgeries.
But someone forged them................

Grasping at straws.

faithfulbird20 · 02/05/2021 22:11

Hastings should have got a better ending. Maybe police corruption would be beaten even due to this show. Honestly so disappointed, Jed should have given us some hope especially with Covid going on...

Cuntryhouse · 02/05/2021 22:11

How embarrassing to have one of the top, most talked about shows ever, now remembered as utter shite.

There were some great theories on mumsnet. A real let down of a series, let alone this episode.

Bluntness100 · 02/05/2021 22:11

I honestly was waiting for a twist as well. I kept thinking no way is it just buckells. Even his interview was shit. It was all no comment. No drama, no emotions and ted loosing his temper. It was just “did you do it” “ no comment” “alright then”.

Duvetstay · 02/05/2021 22:11

Fairly sure that can't be the last ever!!! So not like GoT or Lost. There's definitely going to be another series. Carmichael will be an unlikely ally.

It was too low key for me but I get why they did it like that.

Buckles is bent but not H

Imnotamagician · 02/05/2021 22:11

I have never been so disappointed in a series ending as I was with this. Not sure if I would invest time watching another series if 1 did happen.

C8H10N4O2 · 02/05/2021 22:11

So top corrupt bigwig stays in charge and appoints effectively corrupt office to shackle anti corruption down to being a PR office.

Well that stinks

ValancyRedfern · 02/05/2021 22:11

I thought it was good. Carmichael or Osborne would have been too obvious. It being Buckells was the twist.

AngeloMysterioso · 02/05/2021 22:12

Yep.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/05/2021 22:12

@faithfulbird20

The only good thing that came out was me hoping Kate and Steve get together someday....
Nobitninstead they said out loud that they were close as mates. That's Jed acknowledging that is would be ridiculous for them to end up together and they they really still are valid as mates/partners.
unique1986 · 02/05/2021 22:12

For me it was quite boring. Worst final ever.
Yes mainly the three of them in long scenes but needed much more.

CheekyWeeShite · 02/05/2021 22:12

Well at least I feel vindicated as I pointed the finger at Buckells many seasons ago. Also Osborne, who is clearly behind it all.

I knew it when they rewrote history with that morse code shit - Steve said “4 dots. 4 caddies”. They shifted the goalposts from H/4th man being the top dog, to being another Dot.

Assuming there is another season, they’ll confirm Osborne is on top early on I hope and then the series will be about bringing him down. Maybe the three will form their own PI firm since I can’t see them being able to do the investigation as police officers.

Misty9 · 02/05/2021 22:12

Reflecting on it I think the message jed was perhaps conveying is that it's not about all the catching a baddie stuff, when the baddies are untouchable. That policing is political more often than adrenalin fueled. A bit of a departure though!
