Tales of Weatherfield continued...

It finished 5m early and still felt like it was on for an hour.

thenightsky · 10/05/2021 22:59

@Honeyroar

I think she’s entitled to get a bit screechy at her son’s murderer walking around though. I didn’t like her shouting at Nina though.🙁
I totally got her shouting at Nina. Imagine the frustration.
Honeyroar · 10/05/2021 23:04

I can, but poor Nina, who most feel dreadful that she can’t remember. She’ll feel even worse if she remembers that Seb really didn’t feel happy staying around Corey and Co as things we’re getting uncomfortable, he wanted to leave but she insisted on staying because she was worried for Kelly.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 11/05/2021 01:53

The teenage girl in me was screaming at her "stop taking it out on Nina. She's not to blame. She's a victim too"
And the mum of teenage boys in me was screaming "if that was my son that had been killed I'd be lashing out at everyone because I can't imagine a worse pain"

I cried so much and so hard tonight that DS 2 called through from the other room to make sure I was OK.

but pretty yet pointless Alina looked like she'd just lost her favourite lipstick

Grin Oh yes. She has this permanent hard done by doe eyed look at is the same if she's luring Ty into the bedroom or if she's just heard someone she knows well died from being beaten up.

Just my opinion, but I really did not like her shouting at Nina. Of course she's frustrated, but this was the girl who loved her son, who is suffering herself, who has been injured, and surely being calm and getting rest means her memory might slowly come back.

Lemonelderflower · 11/05/2021 07:47

I didn’t like the shouting at Nina either. I tend to think soaps do the ‘anger’ part of grief badly.

I lost my dad seven years ago in sudden and difficult circumstances and I did shout at someone once. It was out of character for me and I did go straight back to apologise. But it tends to be (ime) the sort of anger that quickly turns to breaking down crying.

Shouting like abi just causes a loss of sympathy awful as that sounds ... same with Leanne and Oliver.

Meanwhile on classic Corrie there is scoffing at Vera trying to have a smoke free pub Grin if only they knew!

Roussette · 11/05/2021 07:53

Yes and the shouters never seem to apologise. Leanne was vile to every single person around her, all the NHS ss well, and yet never seemed to feel bad about it.
I just don't want Abi going down that route because she's playing a blinder with this scenario.

I did find the evilTracey harping on at Toyah to ring Leanne and get support/tell her what's happened so so annoying.
The face she pulled when Toyah was talked out of it, was very pantomime
Surely, the characters aren't so dim not think this is odd because this is all she does. 'Why don't you ring your sister/Leanne, she ought to know'. Why hasn't someone realised she keeps on about this?
I thought Leanne and Co scarpered and if Toyah rang, how would that help her evil plan?

lollipoprainbow · 11/05/2021 08:14

Abi shouting was disappointing having played it so well up to now, don't make people lose sympathy with her corrie!!

TellingBone · 11/05/2021 08:47

I'm not sure it was realistic to ask Asha in front of Corey whether he was telling the truth about where he was on the night.

Lemonelderflower · 11/05/2021 08:54

I thought that was badly done. At least Craig wasn’t doing the interviewing!

Toyah and Imran are terrible foster parents.

FromHereToModernity · 11/05/2021 09:20

I think that went from very very good to very very awful over the course of the two episodes.

It was just so unrealistic. The gathering of forensic and alibi evidence right in front of witnesses and potential suspects, especially the under-18s (Asha and Amy) was just amateur.

Maybe we've been watching too much Line of Duty, but that was terrible, terrible, for the love of God.

Kelly would have had a social worker there and another solicitor, which Imran and Toyah and the police were duty bound to organise, what with her being a Looked After Child and all, which the police knew the minute Toyah opened her gob and said, 'I'm her foster carer.'

And it's a shame the writers and director have decided to turn Abi into Leanne. Totally unnecessary. Luckily in RL she'd not have have been allowed in the hospital room of a person recovering from brain surgery anyway, to rant and rave.

Did the writers change between ep 1 and ep 2 last night?

Deadringer · 11/05/2021 09:50

I hope Kelly was just a witness, i know that is still awful but i like her and i was hoping she would turn her life around. I think it's in character for Abi to lose it when fruastrated, glad Roy was there to keep her in check.

PrincessScarlett · 11/05/2021 09:55

Unfortunately Kelly is not just a witness as she slapped Nina around the face which instigated the whole attack. And Corey demanded that Kelly wash her clothes after the attack which implies she was involved too.

Viviennemary · 11/05/2021 09:56

I'm not keen on Kelly. She's a nasty type. And having her fostered by the clueless Toyah won't do her any good either.

Lemonelderflower · 11/05/2021 09:58

I don’t actually think Corey or Kelly are responsible for the blow that killed Seb.

Kelly is certainly guilty of assault. Did Summer witness her hit Nina?

Lemonelderflower · 11/05/2021 09:59

As an aside, how many teenagers are called Kelly now?

Kelly was the name of the scary girls I went to school with and I’m 41 soon!

FromHereToModernity · 11/05/2021 10:06

I was reading about Kelly Rowland once (as you do) and it said that her husband is Tim Weatherspoon and for a few seconds of Shock I thought she'd married Tim Martin Grin

Deadringer · 11/05/2021 10:11

Yes of course i forgot Kelly kicked it all off with the slap. I think that if Corey didn't do it he would be singing like a canary about who did. It's awful to think that attacks like this are quite commonplace.

PrincessScarlett · 11/05/2021 10:25

I think Corey's trainers are key.

PrincessScarlett · 11/05/2021 10:29

I'm pretty sure Summer left before Kelly slapped Nina. It was building up to it though as they were being mean to Nina and Summer left because she didn't like what they were saying. I hope Summer has told the police that as she didn't even mention it last night to Todd or Billy, just that she was there right before it happened.

Love Amy being all moral. And to think she's Tracey's daughter! She has always acted like the grown up out of her, Tracey and Steve. So pleased she was straight with Asha about lying to the police making Asha just as guilty.

Spidey66 · 11/05/2021 10:40

When Corey was washing his clothes, you could hear his trainers banging around. Asha was there-I hope she remembers and her conscience gets the better of her.

Lnix · 11/05/2021 10:41

@PrincessScarlett

I think Corey's trainers are key.
Yeah! Someone's trainers are key anyway, and I hope it's Corey's. Only I think I remember them zooming in on Kelly's trainers during the chase bit. I want Corey to be done for the whole thing and Kelly 'just' for assault if she's done for ajything - Corey is just so hateful but Kelly seems to have somewhere to go with her character 💔 even though I agree she is a nasty piece of work! I feel I am more able to understand why she is like that though, look at her life so far. Pampered Prince Corey, on the other hand...he is just awful!!
UhtredRagnarson · 11/05/2021 10:41

@Deadringer

I suspect they will want to keep Kelly around because Rick’s death is still undiscovered and I think she’ll be part of that when it happens.
Roussette · 11/05/2021 10:42

I had little sympathy for Asha. When she listed all the people who didn't like Corey, she obviously wasn't listening to herself. Hopefully what Nina said sinks in
