Hope you all don’t mind, getting near the end of thread 7, so thought I’d trot this one out!

@CheekyWeeShite

Need to catch up on the thread - been busy today making these for my etsy shop 😂

When Steve, Ted and Carmichael were in the office to after Kate and Jo were caught why didn’t Steve reveal that Ryan had confessed to the murders of Steve Corbett and Maneet Bindra? Did Ryan really confess to this?

PomLikeTheBattle · 26/04/2021 22:46

Yes the framed thing was odd - only makes sense if they didn’t shoot Ryan. But kates gun was used plus there was powder residue ?

Milkywaystars · 26/04/2021 22:47

I think Steve thinks Carmichael is bent or untrustworthy so he's only telling her the bare minimum. Remember, the police is leaking like a seive and every other person seems to have a hidden agenda. It's not sensible or safe to put all your cards on the table in LOD.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 26/04/2021 22:53

Ryan told Kate and Jo he killed Maneet and John Corbett. We saw him tell them. Think it was before he knew also had a gun.

TheLODstinkyunderpassAKATits · 26/04/2021 22:57

I just can't get away from Jo being bent, I still have this feeling she's going to turn out to be a proper manipulator (albeit a poor one compared to the Denton).

Going to find it hard to sleep knowing the Obsessed podcast is there already...might have to do my walk early morning to listen....

Me too. I was so tempted to put it on tonight, but I’m too tired to properly appreciate it. 😴

He’s he did. At end of e5

Apologies if already covered.
Why was Samantha Davidson listed on Jo's police notes - was it next of kin or does everyone have to have their mother's name?

It's just that she died when Jo was 15/16 so couldn't have been her next of kin.

Fiddlersgreen · 26/04/2021 23:37

It said next of kin so she must have lied

WeeDonkey · 27/04/2021 06:20

Maybe if her mum was dead, her next of kin would've been Tommy Hunter. And you're not going to put that down!

Another thing that Jo said was the Tommy made her mum go to Glasgow when she was pregnant. Given that Tommy was 13 and her mum 15 it seems a bit odd but anyway.

So Jo was brought up in Glasgow until she was 16 so the presumably the Bent Copper father figure was also in Glasgow. Did he move to the Midlands same as Jo and Tommy. Why wouldn't he be listed as next of kin if Jo though of him as her dad.

Whereismymojo · 27/04/2021 07:10

I fell asleep watching it on Sunday night Sad - watched it again last night - sorry to say but underwhelmed by it. The interview scene was way too long and i still don’t really get why Jo and Kate had to flee the scene.

Also the dialogue isn’t spot on, or else I’m ruining it for myself with Twitter etc but when someone says something ‘good’ it’s automatically a meme or soundbite in my head. They become standalone and detach from the conversation.

But only small issues in the face of it!

I’m wanting the good old days of being surprised by ted with some genuine and completely Irish sayings - it’s the same ones on repeat now - I’m going 1,000,000 to 1 for a hurler in the ditch comment by COB Grin

I think it was someone in the city where they lived before they moved back to Glasgow. Jo knew her mum had moved back to Glasgow after falling pregnant so the ‘dad’ would need to be in that city. Given he had raised Jo’s mum it’s unlikely he would have had any involvement in Jo’s upbringing when she was in Glasgow. Her mum may have just told her it was a policeman who raped her when she was younger - someone who was already in the police at that time so much older than her mum, Fairbanks?

CheekyWeeShite · 27/04/2021 07:18

She specifically says that her faux dad is a bent copper though, so she must know stuff about him at least .

Bluntness100 · 27/04/2021 07:18

There’s defintely something missing

We never saw Kate shoot Ryan, now you’d expect after she did, she’d take jo in, because she set her up to be murdered.

But she didn’t. She went on the run, she trusted jo more than she trusted the police, and she did everything she could to evade the police, then didn’t wish to put her gun down.

So something is to be revealed there as to why Kate did that. It’s not a natural course of action, up until that point she’d never have done that. She’d have taken jo in,

So the fact we never saw Kate shoot Ryan, and then suddenly after it her behaviour changed oddly and she was sure she was being set up, not by jo but by the police, shows somethings yet to be revealed about that.

The whole thing is missing, Kate actually shooting Ryan and then what happens next to cause Kate to go on the run with the woman who just set her up.

Ulysses · 27/04/2021 07:30

So is the faux dad what her mum said about who raped her and made her pregnant. She was raped by a bent copper when it was really her own younger brother? It seems a bit of an odd detail to throw in.

Ejk80 · 27/04/2021 07:38

Maybe her mum never really knew Tommy was the father, maybe she thought it was the policeman - if she had actually been abused by both? Tommy mixed with a horrible crowd even then it seems so the policeman could have been introduced via Tommy

OneRankSuperior · 27/04/2021 07:46

My guess with Kate running is that it’s what @Dirtystreetpie said - in the circumstances (surveillance withdrawn, Carmichael taking Steve’s phone etc) she can’t trust anyone.

But I think they’ve explained it poorly in the edit - I think there should have been an immediate aftermath scene where Kate made the decision to run that would have made this clearer.

But they’ve not shown that in favour of creating a moment of tension when we see AC-12 walking up to the scene and we don’t know who is dead.

Bluntness100 · 27/04/2021 07:51

But I think they’ve explained it poorly in the edit - I think there should have been an immediate aftermath scene where Kate made the decision to run that would have made this clearer

And that’s the question, was it very poorly done, or was it deliberately withheld to be revealed on Sunday.

SHARPISH! Not ‘sheepish’ Hmm

I thought (because of the child abuse story line from S3) that Tommy and Jo's Mum were probably both subject to abuse, and part of that abuse included being forced to have sex with each other. Samantha Davidson was probably raped by others too and may not have known who the father was.

Tommy sending them to Glasgow is perhaps a teenager's attempt to protect his sister, rather than a criminal mastermind manipulating them.

Sam saying Jo's father was a bent copper probably means that a bent copper was one of the abusers but perhaps also serves other purposes. Like explaining the move, and possibly some of the crime connections or a reaction to a certain individual or other things in her past.

I think there has to be a grain of truth to the "raped by a bent copper" story, because it would be an awful thing to tell a child when you could have just said the father was a one night stand or fling but also because lying about rape is a shitty storyline.
