Hope you all don’t mind, getting near the end of thread 7, so thought I’d trot this one out!

I don't know where Kate came from, autocorrect.

Yeah, I think the threat of more OCG and no AC-12 surveillance alerted them. Presumably Kate thought the police surrounding her were not AC-12 and were under OCG influence, so they would not be safe.

motherofgodhaudyerwheesht · 26/04/2021 20:35

For the posters still wondering who shot Ryan, the all important scene was Jo 'showing she was not bent' by asking Kate for her gun, which she handled, putting her finger on the trigger. she was transferring her prints to take the rap for it. Inplication clearly being her prints were not on the gun before and Kate shot Ryan, surely.

AFO firing pattern, GSR on Kate’s sleeve, ballistics confirmation that the bullets came from Kate’s gun, only Kate’s and Jo’s prints on the gun and we saw Jo put hers there deliberately after Ryan was dead, no sign of anyone else in the vicinity during the stand off ...

If there was someone on a grassy knoll who pulled the trigger then manipulated the ballistics and chemical evidence to frame Kate, JM can fuck right off because that would be a shark-jump too far for me.

PrincessScarlett · 26/04/2021 20:51

@motherofgodhaudyerwheesht I get what you are saying and in all likelihood I agree that Kate did shoot Ryan.

BUT the Jo putting her prints on Kate's gun also works under the theory of them both being framed. Had it just been Kate's prints on the gun, Kate would have been arrested for killing Ryan. Then Jo would have noone to investigate and help her. By putting her prints on the gun it casts doubt on who shot Ryan and with Jo taking the blame it leaves Kate free to carry on. If Kate didn't shoot Ryan and they believe they are being framed then Jo adding her prints helps Kate out massively.

weewitch · 26/04/2021 21:03

No idea what's going on - hope next week ties it up well (& does a flashback for what happened when Ryan got shot as Kate and Jo running away makes no sense at all).

These are fucking GREAT!

Cutting out the letters of the law, one Ted might say?!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 26/04/2021 21:44

@Comeinoutoftherain

I suspect Jo has turned from OCG to deep UCO.

When she asked for Kate's gun, she already had Ryan's gun (she gives it up after the car chase), so she's not asking for it because she wants to prove to Kate that she won't shoot her. She could have shot Kate already with the gun she took from Ryan.

I think Jo's mum went "missing" to encourage her to join the OCG in the first place. Suicide doesn't make sense.

I suspect Jo found out her mum is in Spain with Thurwell (who she had assumed was her father). And her mum was in on the plan to convert Jo to OCG.

So she's turned UCO to bring in the entire ring.

Now she's exposed as OCG she can't continue to investigate (I.e. get the evidence to bring in the OCG) So she's told Kate abs taken the fall for Ryan so the Kate can take over evidence gathering.

I think Carmichael is her handler. She was disrupting the interview to stop Jo caving and revealing information. So Jo won't (yet) be killed in prison by the OCG, as she hasn't revealed details of any living OCG members.

Hence Carmichael's "I'm pragmatic" comment to Kate. To let Kate know that she's aware of the truth and what Kate's aiming to do.

I also suspect some kind of redemption for Buckells. He's been in the background all the time. I wonder if he's been part of deep UCO for AC for a long time. Pretending to be totally dim so the OCG don't see him as a threat.

Buckles is far too thick to be undercover. He'd struggle to remember his own middle name.
MotherOfGodWeeFella · 26/04/2021 21:50

Buckells deserves all he gets - after all he was part of the team who cocked up the Lawrence Christopher case and covered it up.

Ooooh Shrine of Duty is already out this week!

CheekyWeeShite · 26/04/2021 21:54

Sorry - meant to say alongside that, I kept hold of a little H to sneak into the side of my pics.

Definitely going to make myself a Wall Of Duty 😂

Furries · 26/04/2021 21:55

@GlassBoxSpectacular

Well, if the spelling is anything to go by, it seems that ‘H’ is the person responsible for the signage at Jo’s station 🤔
That has been bugging me from the beginning. It’s usually shown again each week in the recap, so I’ve been bugged every single week!

Ooh so it is!!

They mustn't have slept.

Dirtystreetpie · 26/04/2021 21:56

Surely it’s obvious that the reason Kate acted so strangely in the aftermath of Ryan’s death is because of Paranoia, same reason Kate and Steve had the arrangement with each other’s flat keys and cars. Last she knew she was being protected by AC12 surveillance, gets a call from Steve just after driving to the worlds dodgiest meeting place to tell her there is no protection on her & then Carmichael grabs phone, Kate and Steve are terrified that whoever is running the OCG is so high up within the force they can’t trust anyone, not even Ted after what Steve found out about last week and told Kate in tears. She scarpered with Jo as needed time to think and didn’t know where to turn as just doesn’t trust the people in power above her

Dirtystreetpie · 26/04/2021 22:00

@JaneJeffer

I think people are looking for things which are never going to exist. Yes.

Bloody hell, they banged that out sheepish this week!
Dirtystreetpie · 26/04/2021 22:01

@drspouse

I thought Jo and Kate fled the scene because they were afraid more members of the OCG were on the way?
I agree. OCG in uniform or out of it, either way if you’d been doing Kate’s job for last 10 years you’d be so bloody paranoid about everyone and everything. They hate Carmichael, not sure if they can trust Ted, she just panicked.
GlassBoxSpectacular · 26/04/2021 22:02

SHARPISH! Not ‘sheepish’ Hmm

Osborne might not be H but he is a complete twat.

I hope whoever it is, it wipes the smile off Pass-Agg Pat's face.

PomLikeTheBattle · 26/04/2021 22:10

I had a thought with no evidence whatsoever. Carmichael covering for Osbourbe as partners ?? Can’t imagine she’d risk her career without good reason. Ages being too pantomime yo be H.
Maybe OCG have dirt on her though ??

CheekyWeeShite · 26/04/2021 22:25

Thanks @youvegottenminuteslynn - it’s here if you want to have a look, will have to do some more LoD stuff!

Did anyone figure out why Kate said “we’re being framed”? I keep coming back to that and still can’t figure it out!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/04/2021 22:29

I’m finding the character very tedious. She delivers every single line in the exact same way: over-burdened with impatience, sarcasm, and superiority. It’s a completely one-note performance that teeters on the brink of pantomime villain

And yet in her manner and delivery she is the twin of our area dean.
