So another itv drama. I liked too close , the drowning one and few others

On every night this week

When primary school teacher Gemma goes missing in Manchester , surveillance officers martin and Stella are tasked with observing the prime suspect , Gemma boyfriend Greg

I’m guessing it’s too obvious to be the bf so if she is dead /not found it’s not him

But blondes has known to be wrong 😂

I’m only watching it cos it’s got Noel Clarke in and I liked bullet proof. He was also in dr who few years ago.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/04/2021 22:17

Think the men are Greg’s neighbours. They were doing a hunt for Gemma

Agree the fight looked fake

So they hadn’t paid their rent for 8mths. Why weren’t they given notice

Zoe is watching the couple shagging

Martin has lost his confidence in shadowing due to partner in wheelchair

Fake passports. Money. What was little school teacher Gemma into

The dark haired fighting guy is a sleaze ball. His fighting the ginger guy was to turn on his creepy girlfriend who is in some sort of 3 way situation with them.

The Welsh girl wants to make it a 4way but they turned her down and preferred Gemma so Welshie killed her. Gemma’s boyfriend is just thick as a plank as is starey eyed black ex-cop.

Interviewedundercaution · 27/04/2021 22:27

Very bad timing to find out how much money I could be laundering through primary school clubs just 2 months before I retire. Dammit. Could have made a fortune.

Allywill · 27/04/2021 22:28

Can anyone help me with a few questions?
Were there several of the same LP and if so why?
Was there a DI that had been round at Catherine’s tyldsley flat ( sorry can’t remember characters name) or am I mixing up the bearded fighting friend and the bearded detective?
More of a rhetorical question - why was Gemma shopping in Zoe’s store for children’s costumes? They would hardly fit primary school children it looked like a woman’s clothes shop. Zoe said she was locking up when Gemma took the call and then they were supposed to be going for a drink but wouldn’t Gemma be working school/after school club? If after school had finished wouldn’t Zoe need to pick up her daughter?
I am struggling to concentrate on the actual plot as so little of it makes sense. I should just let it wash over me and not overthink it I guess.

I'm hating Mrs Tuckman the most.

Interviewedundercaution · 27/04/2021 22:30

You're just not drinking enough, Allywill.

AnyFucker · 27/04/2021 22:30

Who is Mrs Tuckman ?

excelledyourself · 27/04/2021 22:35

The one who was at it with Mr Tuckman at the end

Cowbells · 27/04/2021 22:43

It's such cobblers.

"He's a restauranteur!' Er no he's not. He's home every single evening, kicking things so we know he's upset and holding fake passports open right by the window.

Caitlin just dissolved into thin air when Zoe was invited for drinks by Carl 'I'm a dodgy foreigner' Tuckman and then by permanently closed restauranteur Greg.

And the plot just lobs everything in: domestic abuse, money laundering, missing woman, false identity, alcoholism and drugs, someone lurking in the alley, neighbour who pulls down the missing posters. (I half expect her to say, 'Well she's not missing is she? She's staying with me!' The plot is that random.)

The only thing I care about so far is that Caitlin isn't getting looked after properly.

excelledyourself · 27/04/2021 22:55

Agree with most of what you say @Cowbells, but to be fair, I'd probably skip work for a bit if my partner vanished.

But I don't have a partner, so maybe I'm romanticising Grin

JackieLavertysWeirdVoice · 27/04/2021 23:06

Poor Caitlin, witnessing all that across the road when she's in her bedroom.

JemimaTab · 28/04/2021 03:36

I couldn’t understand why the surveillance was authorised on Greg in the first place. That doesn’t seem usual. Plus it’s costly. But I guess they have a bottomless budget.
But also, why is Martin filming through the blinds? You wouldn’t get a great image that way.
And they’re thinking that Greg knows they’re filming him. If so, why doesn’t he just have the blinds down all the time?
And whatserface is constantly drinking enormous glasses of wine. Which I suppose must become relevant at some point.
I’ve watched 2 episodes but I’m unconvinced at this point if I’m honest. I do like Noel Clarke though.

butterpuffed · 28/04/2021 08:44

There seem to be a lot of dodgy people living in/going into those flats !

Loads of holes, plenty of bad acting but somehow I'm still watching !!

Cocolapew · 28/04/2021 12:59

@Allywill the LPs were imports or different coloured vinyl, collectors will get different pressings etc of albums /singles

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2021 14:56

Surely if investigating Greg, camera shouldn’t be on neighbours flat

Plus we have all said why throwing so much money and time via surveillance on him after a few days

OP posts:
JackieLavertysWeirdVoice · 28/04/2021 15:37

I'm pretty sure that filming the neighbours shagging isn't in the surveillance remit.

Inkanta · 28/04/2021 17:43

Yes these extra Large glasses of red wine must be a clue.

alloverthecarpetagain · 28/04/2021 17:51

I'm really enjoying this, I have to admit. I did laugh out loud when they were talking about the After School Club somehow being a front for money laundering, though.

God, I know.

'How's the chess club going, love?'

'Oh it's great, darling, we took nine grand in subs last week. Just pop them down to the bank for me, will you? It's in the safe next to the fake IDs and the guns.'

Percypigg · 28/04/2021 21:09

Oh god, I'm so lost!

Dogatetheleftovers · 28/04/2021 21:14

I’m getting confused about who the two bearded men are and why they’re arguing in the street. Mind you, not a lot of it makes sense and yet I’m still watching!

AC12theletterofthelaw · 28/04/2021 21:22

What on earth was that about. With the plants?

imnottoofussed · 28/04/2021 21:24

Who was with the man in the picture in the bottom flat? Family think it was cath tyldsley? Can't be bothered rewinding

AnyFucker · 28/04/2021 21:27

That invisible suit he wears is magic Smile
