@TrashyPanda

I hated Paige. How could she be so stupid and unprofessional? Not to mention immature and rude. The Dylan we all know and love would have torn a strip off her.

Had to laugh when the “previously on” bit showed 3 separate shots of Ethan crying. Does he hold the BBC record for tears running down his cheeks?

The best thing about it was the lack of Charlie.

The rest of the episode was dreadful. The only

He did twice, Paige just decided not to listen because she thought she was right and then he made it perfectly clear at the end what would happen if that behaviour continued when she started her job.

Most new characters first episode, they are pretty annoying anyway and I’m glad Dylan did point that out to her. But the majority of them usually calm down pretty quickly (saying that I still hate Stevie&Matthew). It seems it’s the only way the writers know how to introduce new characters.

They probably thought that everyone would’ve loved the two part Christmas eps, going by the way they were hyping it up, so decided to make the one after pretty much a filler episode. Hopefully the only good thing that’ll come out the dreadful xmas episodes is we don’t see Charlie for months now..

TrashyPanda · 10/01/2022 22:27

I thought Dylan was really rather restrained and was longing for some of his legendary sarcasm.

I was also bemused at how awful Paige’s eyeshadow was - and I say this as someone who lived through the 1970s, ie before blending was invented.

DontWantTheRivalry · 11/01/2022 21:37

I liked Paige…..until she pretty much told the young lad that he had a brain tumour. I mean…..a different a doctor would do that.

And then when she followed him into the disabled toilet knowing he’s violent and knowing he’s potentially angry at her….just really stupid and unlikely.

And like a previous poster said, I’m really still not liking Stevie!

It was nice to see Rash and Dylan together….my two favourite pieces of eye candy Grin

copernicium · 16/01/2022 09:05

I like the fact that we still don't like Stevie. They always morph into a standard likeable person after the first month. It's nice that she's stayed horrible.

Excellent point! I loved how she was with Paige, who is still annoying and doesn’t seem very bright. Taking a pen with A bright pink fluffy pom-poms on the end made her look like a school kid, not a medical professional.

A bit confused about the mum carrying the baby for her daughter. The daughter was born without a womb, but no mention of anything else. So why did the mother have her own eggs frozen and used them?

Plus point - no Charlie.
Extra plus point - Ethan didn’t cry.

DeckTheHallsWithGin · 16/01/2022 16:58

Utter drivel. As if someone would have a baby in 5 minutes flat, in the main area with only a curtain and no nurses, midwives, obstetricians etc and that said baby would be resuscitated by one doctor not a whole team. And as if the heavily pregnant lady with CP and social services involvement would be able to walk out and get all the way home on foot without the police and ambulance crews picking her up. Paige is annoying and they’re all completely unprofessional.

TrashyPanda · 16/01/2022 17:41

We were trying to remember (but failed) was she pregnant in the wierd Xmas ep?

SleepingStandingUp · 16/01/2022 20:32

i assume lady with no womb has no ovaries / eggs either

lady with cp wasn't pregnant in weird out of time episode, but she was pregnant last time she was in the show. agree she did an impressive job of getting all those lines out, her clothes back and getting home before anyone raised the alarm

BashStreetKid · 16/01/2022 23:37

To be fair, some labours are incredibly quick. Particularly, I suspect, if you've had four children already.

LavenderAskew · 23/01/2022 10:09

Who is the actor playing Aaron?

I'm just watching now, trying to ignore the fact that Stevie and Matthew were supposed to get a takeaway and watch tv together, but Stevie went out with Faith and Matthew was still at work (so how was he supposed to be with Stevie).

I'm ignoring the alien boy story.

WhatICallMyUsername · 23/01/2022 10:19

I watched it last night but don't know
who Aaron is?!

WhatICallMyUsername · 23/01/2022 10:20

Or do you mean Angus and auto correct has changed it?!

In which case he was Rev Tom in Call The Midwife and is married to Helen George who plays Trixie. I don't know what else he's been in or his name

DontWantTheRivalry · 23/01/2022 10:20

I’m guessing Matthew stayed behind to help out? Or stayed purely because Brodie had been admitted?

The alien story was ridiculous.

LavenderAskew · 23/01/2022 10:41

Yes, I meant Angus. Don't why I wrote Aaron (wasn't auto correct!!) mind you I had called Matthew Anthony, but manged to realise my error before I posted.

Thank you though, Call the Midwife is where I know the actor from.

TrashyPanda · 23/01/2022 13:44

What an absolute numpty Ethan is. With the emotional maturit6 of a teenager.

I felt so sorry for the GPs, who had to drop everything to care for the child he literally dumped on their doorstep.

He suddenly decides he wants his kid back, cunningly ignoring the fact he is in the middle of a shift and he doesn’t have anyone else to look after the kid. So he sits in the staff room and keeps the baby awake, even though it’s clearly well past his bedtime.

Not seeing his kid is met with the excuse it was too difficult for him. What the hell does he think it was like for Fenishas parents? Ethan was with her for a few months - she was their daughter.

Poor Bodie. His dad doesn’t care he’s seen so little of his own child that Bodie doesn’t know him - because it is all about Ethan. Thank heavens the GPs have Bodies best interests at heart, never mind the sacrifices they have to make. Plus there is the very real possibility the GPs will once again need to be Bodies full time carers if his Huntingdons advances

Ethan disgusted me in this ep. He is so self centred and a really crap parent. He is thinking only of himself, not his child.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2022 09:23

Turkey baster at home with frozen donor sperm?

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2022 06:52

Daughter said her mum froze her eggs years ago

So def not a diy at home as mum wouldn’t have any eggs left at 60

I really hoped they were going to properly show the harms of surrogacy, even altruistic surrogacy, but no they had to have the usual happy ending all tied up with a pretty bow

TrashyPanda · 29/01/2022 22:58

Another boring episode.
The only interesting thing was seeing Faith with her hair down, then up, them down again and then up once more.
The rest was a yawn fest.

DontWantTheRivalry · 29/01/2022 23:00

I was bored tonight too.
Although I think it may be the first episode I’ve watched where I’ve not hated Stevie in it Smile

purpleme12 · 29/01/2022 23:10

I wasn't bored

I thought at the end it might be the return of Pyscho Stevie again......!

TrashyPanda · 29/01/2022 23:25

Yes, Stevie showed she was more than competent.

I wonder when they are going to give the doctor who was with Fenisha and is now with Stevie a personality? I can’t remember his name and he is a real nonentity.

purpleme12 · 29/01/2022 23:29

Matthew
I guess he is a bit

loadypoady · 30/01/2022 09:44

Who did Faith say that Stevie had ruined their life when she was having a rant at her? I couldn’t make that out despite rewinding 3 times.
Casualty is my favourite program but I’m finding it a bit rubbish at the moment.
