I rewatched the episode again earlier, is Adi Paula’s Social worker?

It was mentioned that he got the call from the midwifes, he knew a lot about Paula and her history already and he knew that Paula wasn’t with her abusive partner anymore.
(Admittedly I particularly don’t know how it works)

When I say I ‘Admittedly I particularly don’t know how it works’ I’m talking about Social Services. I didn’t make that as clear as I should’ve :)
EmeraldShamrock · 29/11/2021 08:17

I was surprised Dylan didn't have a conversation with the social worker to confirm that the woman with cerebral palsy had been looking after herself during the pregnancy. He could have encouraged her to say that her abusive partner was no longer a part of her life and that she'd committed to AA meetings in readiness for being a mother.
It doesn't work like that once you've lost a DC previously in the situation described plus she hide her pregnancy, the GP contacted SS after Dylan said she was pregnant, she'd no antenatal care which isn't a good start for baby.
It's a sad situation, hopefully we see more and she gets assisted living with baby.

SleepingStandingUp · 30/11/2021 00:16

It would be good to see her get support to keep baby with her, maybe find out who Dad is and him be a good egg.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/12/2021 12:44

@spiderlight

I hope we do see more of Rosie Jones - I love her and it's nice to see her in a serious role.

purpleme12 · 04/12/2021 21:36

Why have they gone back to last christmas?

purpleme12 · 04/12/2021 22:00

I feel like this was a really wierd episode?

Optimist1 · 04/12/2021 22:20

@purpleme12

I feel like this was a really wierd episode?
You're not kidding! I was totally bemused for a lot of the time. I do remember the Muchausen's by Proxy woman and her daughter, and that Ian did a stint in that special paramedic unit, but we knew nothing of Chrissie. Similarly, Charlie's worrying symptoms hadn't featured before, but since he's still around and working a year later I'm guessing it was treatable.

Do we know what Tess was referring to when she was apologising to Charlie for letting him down so badly?

I'm sure there were many more issues that puzzled me, but will read this thread later to see if anyone can shine any light on any of them!

purpleme12 · 04/12/2021 22:23

I'm assuming that she wasn't there for him when Duffy died , not been in contact or something

bizzey · 04/12/2021 23:22

I am so confused !!

bizzey · 04/12/2021 23:33

Was this meant to have been shown last year ?

Went on twitter..
"Chrissie*" is "Ian's " real life wife !

purpleme12 · 04/12/2021 23:34

No i think it's a new episode they've done...

bizzey · 04/12/2021 23:56

Oh ..and she was Danielle on EE .
(THANK YOU ,wiki !!)
Completely useless pieces of information ...but more interesting and less confusing than the episode !🤔🙂

purpleme12 · 04/12/2021 23:57

It's a strange one...

spiderlight · 05/12/2021 00:05

I found that so confusing and scrambled. Vaguely remembered the Munchausen's woman but i spent most of the episode going 'Huh??' I have no idea why they jumped back a year, unless they just couldn't film it last year but didn't want to waste the story! Nice to see Tess but I have no idea what she was apologising for or what the comment about her grandson was about.

Did Josh die or just retire? I can't remember.

purpleme12 · 05/12/2021 00:09

i am guessing that Tess and Charlie haven't been in contact with each other
Charlie feels let down by Tess as she wasn't there when Duffy died
And he thinks she just abandoned him when from the sounds of it she had her own problem which played a part in why she'd not been in touch (when it referred to her grandchild)
this is all what i surmised from what happened today...

bizzey · 05/12/2021 01:26

Josh retired/left.
After the stabbing , he had panick attacks when he came back to work.
He took time out and went to Thailand (?)

He came back with a woman who's daughter need medical treatment.
Said daughter got medical treatment ..the mum and Josh decided they loved each other...and Josh went back Thailand with them.

Something like that.
I only know as this Josh/Rosie/Laura story was on classic casulty recently .(2/3/4 ish months ago ?)

bizzey · 05/12/2021 01:38

Ohh...just remembered something...
Josh' leaving ,,included a last minute airport dash!

He walked out of the hospital ,,while still on shift of course...collected overnight bag,, and met them in the departure lounge !😁😁

DontWantTheRivalry · 05/12/2021 07:18

Found the episode really strange - I can’t say I found it enjoyable to watch. I’m hoping Part 2 will be better.

Thethreecs · 05/12/2021 10:18

Oh god, so disappointed in that episode. So much hype prior to it.

Confusing and so many questions.

I had to keep telling myself, it's 2020, that's why Ian isn't gone back to being a paramedic. Charlie just lost Duffy so he's still grieving so is still narky. The hospital looks different because it's in the height of covid and people dying because no vaccinations. Then the flashbacks to 2006, yes many don't remember the episode but why did they choose that particular episode? There's so many other episodes that were just as good as the 2006 one and people would remember. It would have been better to air the 2006 episode before it, just to refresh people's memories.

It's ridiculous really because having Ian clutching at his chest and leaving us wondering if he'll be OK doesn't make sense because we know he's OK as he's in the 2021 episodes. Charlie and the brain scans, not one mention of this for the whole of 2021.

What's funny is the comments on fb and twitter where people are saying they hope Tess stays, well we know she doesn't as the episode is Christmas 2020 and she never appeared for the whole 2021. People saying they hope Ian is OK.

I was finding myself checking how long was left on the episode and saying "this is boring", a few times.

Not impressed at all, felt more annoyed that I sat waiting for something exciting to happen.

JustDanceAddict · 05/12/2021 11:41

Very odd! I also said similar to dh - we know Charlie/Ian will be ok.
Was nice to see Tess again, but that’s about it.
I do also vaguely remember the Munchausen’s story but only cos I remember there being one on it at some point! DS was 2 then so I’m sure I was on a different planet 😆
And so weird that it was set last xmas although there were trees in leaf in the van/cliff scenes do was prob filmed in the summer?!?!

spiderlight · 05/12/2021 14:13

The bit with Munchausen's mum in that house, lying on the bed clutching the big pink teddy - was that a flashback or from when she came out of prison? Seems weird that the house would just be standing empty for 14 years - who owns a place like that outright on a nurse's salary? (I might be overthinking this!)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/12/2021 15:41

It seemed to me that's gone for the 'art house' effect but it hasn't worked? Very confusing. I hadn't actually clocked it was set at Christmas 2020. Wondering whether it's going to be a dream (nightmare more apt?) for Charlie (a sort of medical take on A Christmas Carol?).

I was trying to remember what happened with Tess? Wasn't there some storyline where she nearly ran off into the sunset with a doctor/nurse?

JustDanceAddict · 05/12/2021 16:53

@spiderlight - o thought that too
