Anyone else watch this?

Presenter Katherine Ryan was UNBELIEVABLY irritating.

I’m really enjoying the show. I’m fascinated by the techniques as I had no idea how things like chains are made.

I do agree the time allowed seems very short.

On the timings, before the bangle challenge one of the contestants was asked how long they'd like and he said three days and then KR said "well you've got 3 hours".

Now I get that three days isn't feasible but it shows how bonkers the timescales are.

I got a vague impression they got the challenges ahead of time so they could do the design and it was just the making they had to do in the time, but not 100% sure on that.

It is formulaic, but I still rather like it because the skills are amazing.

Yes - I think they do, but then we see them sketching, etc. Maybe they have to come up with the designs in the workshop and they do it in advance, but it's edited to look as though it was part of the time allowed? It is TV after all, which is very fake.

Dont they have to do the first task off the cuff but get notice of the 2nd task.

I find the two judges to be really off putting. Don’t mind Ryan as much because at least she makes an effort to be friendly and has some life about her. Solange is just awful. Cold, monotone and seems clinically depressed. The male presenter is awful too. We are told nothing about them really or why they are judging. It’s a shame as the idea is great.

I had never seen KR on tv before and wasn't impressed.
Isn't Solange the "go to" jeweller of the Tatler/Vogue/ Harpers set ?
I thought she was cold.

To be fair, though, if you were making these things commercially you couldn't afford to spend three days on them, it would make the price prohibitive once you've costed in your time.

Taking 4 hours to make a silver chain (using about a tenner of silver) is probably not going to work out cost effective either....although people buy mass produced tiffany necklaces for over £200 a pop, when they are probably worth £20, so I guess you might get away with £250 for a bespoke silver chain...

Just watched the second episode and really enjoying this series.

Well Solange has a plain gold chain on her site for £7500 so I suspect she has a different idea of what is affordable to many of us 😂

Watched last weeks, Hugo's broach was beautiful.

Just switched on to a weird white ugly ring.

I liked that leather ring , it's going to be lighter on the hand and get a statement.

I suspect Solange is incredibly nervous in front of the cameras. She just looks petrified to me, and unfortunately it comes across as boredom/dismissiveness.

It's unfortunate that they've found two judges who seem to be almost incapable of smiling. I suspect that's why KR is working so hard to try to lighten things up a bit.

The people commissioning pieces are probably the families and mates of the production team.

I think Sean has warmed up quite a bit since the first programme.

I'm trying so hard to like this show but not really succeeding. It's not the contestants fault, they all seem lovely, but Katherine Ryan is dreadful. She misses the mark so often with her 'jokes ' and doesn't pull the show together like a good host should. Shaun and Solange are just not right for tv, they come across as very dour and flat. It's a shame because it's a great premise for a show but it's not working in its current format.
