Ok, I've started a new one in anticipation of Thread 3 filling up tonight, part way through the episode!

@IstandwithJackieWeaver

Jo broke up with Farida then was horrible to her and collected her stuff, ending a relationship she didn't actually want to end? When she was back at the flat, the picture with her mum or big sister or whoever it was was a reminder she has no one in her personal life at all.
I’ve thought from the start that Jo didn’t want to break up with Farida, she did so (and did so in a cruel manner) in order to stop the OCG using/hurting Farida to get to her (hence her upset when Farida was hurt in prison, because Jo thought she’d be safe there).

The irony then being that a broken-hearted Farida vengefully stuck AC-12 onto Jo, inadvertently making it all worse.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 12/04/2021 13:03

I think framing Farida and shifting suspicion onto Buckells was what she was referring to. Thing is, she knows Ryan is OCG, but she probably just thinks Buckells is a dimwit and doesn't necessarily know he's bent too.

ChocBeforeCock · 12/04/2021 13:04

@Cocacola12

When Davidson was messaging the OCG and said “it’s done” what was she referring to? It was straight after the scene where the were searching Jatri’s house and Davidson could be seen in the background
Yeah interesting - almost as if she wanted her DNA to be found.
PeskyRooks · 12/04/2021 13:04

I want a Ted doll too with a strong on his back and when you pull it it says
"Bent coppers!"
"Mother of God!"
"To the letter!" Etc
We want LOD merch!!

YerGrannysNightdress · 12/04/2021 13:06

Was 'it's done' planting the burner phones at Farida's?

I also want to know what Jo meant when she said to Buckles, something about if we want things to go the way we want them to go. I'm paraphrasing.

PrincessScarlett · 12/04/2021 13:09

I think the DNA link to Jo will reveal who she is protecting. It's obvious that she doesn't want to be involved with the OCG and is getting scared but she must be doing it to protect someone as I don't think just a threat on her own life would phase her as much as a threat to someone else.

But I think the found the burner phones in an earlier episode I feel like I need to watch this episode again!
ChocBeforeCock · 12/04/2021 13:14

Or could “it’s done” relate to warning Kate off Ryan?

lolacola77 · 12/04/2021 13:14

I've said it once and by God I'll say it again fellas, that young Paul McCartney-ish robber is Jo's son!

ChocBeforeCock · 12/04/2021 13:15

The main piece of evidence in favour of Mike Dryden is Mark Bonnar hasn’t mentioned anything about it on Twitter, whereas Neil Morrisey, Craig Parkinson etc are saying they hope it’s them Grin

PrincessScarlett · 12/04/2021 13:15

I'm guessing the "it's done" message was referring to setting Buckells up. He was genuinely dumfounded in his interview and didn't know what was going on. The OCG wanted Buckells out the way with Jo then put in charge for whatever plan they have. Buckells is a bit crap and obviously having sex with informers/dodgy women but I don't think he out and out corrupt. You could tell how scared he was in the cell with his hands shaking as he made his drink.

storminabuttercup · 12/04/2021 13:18

I'm just brain dumping on here now....

Thinking what Steve said about the DNA and how it wouldn't have been checked when Jo joined so presumably the DNA was taken before 1999

EsmaCannonball · 12/04/2021 13:18

Wouldn't a Bunty-style cut-out-and-keep Steve just be Steve and five of the exact same outfits?

As for Kate tackling Dot, maybe she had a reason to want him eliminated. She's shifty, that one.

Piggywaspushed · 12/04/2021 13:20

What do you reckon we won't find out who this DNA match is at the beginning of episode 5?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 12/04/2021 13:20

Now, now - I was particularly thinking of Girl magazine's cut out and dress Adam Ant of the early 80 and even he had a range of outfits.
Piggywaspushed · 12/04/2021 13:21

In terms of the Macca robber, we found out NOTHING about him so either

a) it is definately him who is the DNA match

or

b) it is definately not him

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 12/04/2021 13:22

Ha ha - yes! They'll either tell us then we have to think what the connection is or they won't tell us and it will become clear who it is by their actions, etc. They'll probably not tell anyone outside Ted's office as you can trust no one.
GrandmasNightgown · 12/04/2021 13:22

Yeah interesting - almost as if she wanted her DNA to be found

Which would mean 'I'm finished' takes on a different shade of meaning. She knows she'll be booted out of the investigation for this (at best into a backwater, at worst sacking)

There were three messages, weren't there? What was the middle one?

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 12/04/2021 13:26

It’s 100% either going to be him or not be him. Guaranteed. 😎
ceeveebee · 12/04/2021 13:26

I think the first messages was “it’s under control now” which was the one she sent last week.
She didn’t actually send the second two messages though did she, as it said she was offline. I think she was typing what she’d like to say but can’t?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 12/04/2021 13:27

All under control now
Job done
I'm finished

Whoever is on the other end was offline. Her messages have not been responded to
YerGrannysNightdress · 12/04/2021 13:28

@Cocacola12 aah yes. I really need to check the timeline of events.

Piggywaspushed · 12/04/2021 13:29

I am sure the offline stuff came up last series too. Isn't it showing that the person at the other end is offline? In other words they are choosing not to reply to her. Which is why she threw the laptop. I do the same with my phone when DH never replies to my texts.

MysteriousAffairAtStyles · 12/04/2021 13:30

Yeah interesting - almost as if she wanted her DNA to be found

And knew that AC-12 would uncover the connection and bring it all to a close, thereby ‘saving’ her/the relative she’s protecting.

She did say in an earlier episode that she wanted Kate specifically because she wanted an AC officer on her team. She implied it was to flush out Buckells, but perhaps she wanted AC-12 nosing into things for other reasons, and knew Kate wouldn’t be able to resist reporting back to Ted/Steve?
