Ok, I've started a new one in anticipation of Thread 3 filling up tonight, part way through the episode!

I’ve been rewatching S1

There’s a bit where Steve expresses concerns that the investigation into Gates is excessive for the early findings and could be racist. Ted counters it very robustly “I’m black” and relates incident from early in his career when he and another Catholic officer were blown up (other not surviving) and that they were put in harm’s way because of religion

At the time, it seemed like explanation for why he wasn’t being racist in wanting it fully bottomed out, and a principled stand that he’ll investigate without fear or favour

But what if it meant he was a blackguard!

I really don’t get the obsession with Chloe being Gates’ daughter - what would the significance of it be?

I wish they would make a Line of Duty annual! Posters! Quizzes! Interviews with the stars!!

Actually Dryden is interesting as his DNA would have been on the police file when she joined (presumably). However now he isn’t in the police anymore but has a conviction maybe it would show as a nominal?

Maybe he wants revenge on the OCG, or maybe they’ve found Carly Kirk and are blackmailing Jo they’ll get her to give a statement about his sexual activity with a minor.

Osbourne is her dad. Why else does he appear at the start of every episode in the flashback.

We need our own board where we can write down possibilities and cross out the ones that are definately not possible

We've ruled out Jo isn't:

• the sister or maternal half-sister of John Corbett (as John is born June 3rd 1979 and she is born 22nd April 1979)
• Ryan's mother (we've seen Ryan's mum, plus she joined 29th July 1999 and Ryan was born 29th November 1999)
• Terry's Boyle's mother (He's in his 30s and she's just 41)

Any others I've forgotten???

(I'd do a list of possibilities but I feel that might be endless!)

Because Gail Vella was investigating his involvement in the cover-up of the shooting in which Steve was involved in season 1, but which Steve refused to lie about at the inquest, hence him being booted out of counter-terrorism and ending up in anti-corruption.

I think Chloe is a red herring - she's only there as a replacement for Tatleen who was only replaced because the actor playing Tatleen wasn't available for filming.

I think we’ve ruled out that jo is not related to any one who is female. Because Steve says “he is identified”. So it’s a man... and likely an older male as his dna was on record when jo joined.

Ans it has to be a significant crime to take someone’s dna at that time.

I think we're getting too hung up on ages and assuming an older male = her father. Could well be a brother/cousin/uncle.

Agree, it could be a brother, cousin, grandfather or uncle.

Tatleen wasn't a detective though.

I'm getting nothing done, nothing I tell you. Has anyone ever done Line of Duty on Mastermind? I feel like I'm studying a particularly complex subject for a high level examination.

Going back to Jo's apartment, it does look very corporate, locks and security aside. So secure when she's home, but then she has to leave her car in the street.

Why did she throw her wine glass at the photograph? It does look like the picture of Anne-Marie with a young woman who could be related to Jo. Is it that the photo isn't hers but was placed there as a warning to her given that Anne-Marie was tortured, like Ted's wife was. Is that why she took out her frustration on the photo? As we've said, not that she's intrinsically bent but she's been coerced to protect someone else.

I'm also stuck on Jo thinking she could just declare herself finished with the OCG and that someone as bright as Lakewell would think he'd ever be safe inside. Also that Buckells was placed in that prison on remand and not somewhere where he'd be more protected.

I wish there was a Like button for the Calendar and Annual suggestions. I'd particularly like a dress-up Steve.

I think Steve's drug problem has left him vulnerable to blackmail, but I can't see him being a Big Bad because then things like being tortured and thrown over stairwells wouldn't make sense.

It would be too obvious to make Ted a villain. The whole thing with the laptop porn was a bit lame, so I'm hoping that is part of a bigger, over-arching storyline. The secrecy over his debts was understandable, as it can be very hard to admit to failures when you've made a big deal out of being honourable.

I've felt, from about series 2, that if any of the 3 is truly corrupt it's Kate.

No way is Kate corrupt, she tackled Dot single handedly!

Jo broke up with Farida then was horrible to her and collected her stuff, ending a relationship she didn't actually want to end? When she was back at the flat, the picture with her mum or big sister or whoever it was was a reminder she has no one in her personal life at all.

So we are looking for a proper criminal link to Jo.

I'm going back to Tommy Hunter. If he is Jo's brother the 14 year age difference could have pretty horrific implications thinking of all he was involved in!

You could collect the team, with one cut out every month then have it culminate in the annual with different sets for the cut out characters to interact in. I'm getting carried away now...
