I thought the judging was very blokey and the judges will criticise Carribean food confidently but wet themselves for Japanese flavours no matter how writerly put together

I am delighted for Tom, he deserved it! So surprised to see so many backed Alexina- I thought she was the weakest of the three.

On the day - based on comments - Tom deserve it But if we were to take it as a whole, Alexina was the best. Original but authentic. Most diverse. But all three were lovely though there was a teeny bit of something about Tom that irrationally grated

The so-called ethnic food is always harshly judged because of strog flavours or textures they dont like. I recall a brilliant, authentic Brazilian lady who went early one season. They prefer European modern or Europeanised Asian food if you are lucky. Especially if its Japanese. If its Thai, tone down the authentic Thai flavours
