Place marking too. Are all the Chuffians piling over to Sewing Bee ? It will be great the chat again.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 08/04/2021 22:19

Ooh excellent. Count me in.

littlbrowndog · 09/04/2021 10:02

🙋‍♀️Here

iklboo · 09/04/2021 14:26

HOORAY!!!!!

Halsall · 09/04/2021 14:59

Yes, TheDogsMother, a Chuffian influx Grin

fourquenelles · 09/04/2021 19:28

Just pulling up a chair. Doubt I'll have much to offer as I hand sew everything with a weird sort of back stitch and fail miserably around machinery but I love love love fabric (have mentioned this before I think). I could just have piles of fat quarters* in baskets to fondle and I'd be happy.

*look at me with the sewing jargon!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/04/2021 19:33

This thread will be filled up by Chuffians saying "Hello" before the series has started.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 09/04/2021 21:29

Excuse my ignorance but who are the Chuffians? I presume they're not an alien rice from Star Trek Grin

TitsInAbsentia · 09/04/2021 22:10

Checking in! I love the B, some names I very much recognise on here.

I'd LOVE to have a dedicated workroom, and access to that amazing fabric and haberdashery stash they have on the sewing bee. Haven't had the sewing machine out for ages because like so many the dining table where I'd usually sew has been my office and I can't be dismantling the whole thing every weekend for a bit of stitching, so I've stuck to the crochet.

Horridcreature · 09/04/2021 23:31

@ TracyBeakerSoYeah
The Chuffians frequent the Masterchef tv threads. I’m on there but name change too much to be a true Chuffian. Very friendly bunch. Smile

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 09/04/2021 23:56

Thank you @Horridcreature
I get it now Grin

Hello all! I've been pottering about under a NC, but it would feel wrong in Telly Addicts!

I've been having a look at the profiles on Facebook and there's another contestant from the University of Edinburgh. With Alex the ballroom dancer who could only sew stretch fabrics last year and Peter from the Bake Off, I'm beginning to wonder if they have some sort of "Get On the BBC" Society up there. Grin

Soontobe60 · 10/04/2021 00:28

@ScienceSensibility

I hope the contestants are more representative of the population of amateur sewers (overwhelmingly women) this time, and we don’t get the shoehorned drag queens like last time.

I just love to watch the skills on display, without having the BBC’s agenda of the moment pushed upon me.

That’s a bit harsh! I thought all the contestants were deserving of being on the show!.
iklboo · 10/04/2021 01:26

The drag queen was a celebrity special. The Vivienne was not a 'regular' contestant. There was a contestant who sewed for his partner, but there was no 'agenda' there at all.

Oh! Yes! Yes!!! YES!!!!!

It's just soft tailoring porn . . . .

There have been loads who sewed for drag queens over the years (this picture is from series 3). I think it's gone a bit more high fashion recently though!
Sewing Bee is back!
SallySycamore · 10/04/2021 13:46

I'm not criticising his sewing at all, just to be clear. I just don't think that would be considered quite exciting enough for Drag Race. It looks much comfier than some of the things they do wear though!

NutellaEllaElla · 11/04/2021 21:32

Hello, I'll check in here. Funny, the last time sewing bee was on, I had no sewing experience and felt a proper fraud on the thread. Now I've made two whole dresses. Who would've thought? Not me that's for sure.

I too hope that the contestants stay normal and hobby sewists, not recruited more because of character...

Cocolapew · 14/04/2021 08:45

Bump for tonight!

That's great, I've managed to progress to sewing up hems, that's about it Grin

Good evening, Bee fans! I'm waving to familiar friends from other threads - Strictly and Royal Style etc.
I already miss Clare, last year's winner, but saw on a newsfeed about her work in the pandemic. I imagine a perfect Victory Roll under her hat!

Maireas · 14/04/2021 20:14

Thank you, Roussette!
