Oh joy! Just wondering how I was going to get by without The Throwdown or the Design Challenge!

The Bee is our favourite!

angelofthenorth72 · 06/04/2021 12:36

Can't sew for toffee but LOVED the last series of Sewing Bee. I agree with PP that having a cosplayer or LARPer contestant would be fab!

@Cocolapew what's the jewellery programme? I dabble in making my own (mainly with beads but not beadwork) so would be vv interested in this

Newnormal99 · 06/04/2021 12:46

@angelofthenorth72

Think jewellery one starts 13th on bbc2. Looks to be same format as sewing bee. I love all these shows even though I cannot do anything myself!

Also love glow up so hoping for a new series of that.

angelofthenorth72 · 06/04/2021 12:47

NVM, found it.

All that Glitters, 13th April 8pm BBC2

Stellaris22 · 06/04/2021 12:50

I loved Glow Up but would like a different presenter as Stacey just doesn't seem to add anything to the show. Love the judges though.

I had no idea about the jewellery one, thanks for the heads up about it Smile

I had a look at the FB page for sewing bee bio's and I'm sad there aren't any cosplayers or LARPers.

Cocolapew · 06/04/2021 12:58

Glow Up is being presented by Maya Jama now @Stellaris22

I am very out of date with these things, thanks!

IntermittentParps · 06/04/2021 16:52

I liked Stacey. I think she's very warm. I think I'm a bit old; I don't know who Maya Jama is Blush

Cocolapew · 06/04/2021 16:59

I like Stacey too but I wish she'd wear clothes that fit her, shes always drowning in them

IntermittentParps · 06/04/2021 17:30

I like her oversized look! I think it suits her because she's petite.

TenPenceMix · 06/04/2021 21:06

Wish they'd ditch Joe L and his shitty sexist jokes

SoupDragon · 06/04/2021 23:08

I love Joe.

PickAChew · 07/04/2021 14:29

Joe means that Ds1 will happily sit through it with me :o

CherryValanc · 07/04/2021 14:33

Are his jokes sexist?

I know a lot are shit but I think they are meant to be.

TenPenceMix · 07/04/2021 18:38

Maybe I'm being too sensitive... but the butt of his jokes is usually an old aunty or another female... once I noticed it all his jokes jarred with me but like I say, maybe it's just me 🙄

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/04/2021 00:02

@IntermittentParps

cateycloggs, I agree, the men's tailoring process is really interesting and takes so much skill.

My name is from a review I read about the subtitles of a programme on sleep/snoring where people's snores were described not as plain 'snoring' but as more exciting things including 'intermittent parps' Grin

Oh - that's disappointing.

I thought it was your regional term for farting.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/04/2021 00:07

@TracyBeakerSoYeah

Love Sewing Bee Every time we get to the final I always say I will get a sewing machine & start making my own clothes. Maybe this time I will Smile
I'm halfway there - I got a sewing machine . . .
Haggisfish · 08/04/2021 00:11

Hurray! I have a sewing machine and I have just organised my hobbies room so now I have room to use it! I love joe and his crap jokes.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/04/2021 00:35

@SchadenfreudePersonified
Well done!
There have been quite a few clothes making threads on here that I've lurked on. They have loads of brilliant advice for the 'new self couturier' Smile

What machine did you get?

IntermittentParps · 08/04/2021 11:15

No... but maybe you should adopt it as your own personal term for farting!

How very dare you! I NEVER fart!!!

(Though curiously, I am often sitting next to a dog which is rattling it out like machine gun fire on the Somme and smells like someone dropped a bad egg Wink Grin )

My sewing machine is brother - can't remember the model, but a very simple one - no bells and whistles, because I am a bear of very little brain and as long as I can do forwards/backwards/bit of zig-zag, I am content, though it does do buttonholes etc as well.

It suits me because it is quite light - I've got arthritis and couldn't lift my old one on and off the table.

I've made some masks with it

Oh sorry - I though it was Parps who asked. A Brother - it's really nice, actually. I've been looking for a nice casual trouser pattern

Maireas · 08/04/2021 17:03

I am sew looking forward to this! I just loved Clare last time, what a worthy winner. I'm going to watch the jewellery programme as well, but All that Glitters title is really irritating me! I'm just too pedantic, I know, so in my brain I'll read Glisters!

IntermittentParps · 08/04/2021 18:58

No, but I did enjoy reading about your sewing machine Smile

Halsall · 08/04/2021 22:14

Placemarking. I think most of the Masterchef thread is going to invade this thread too once the final's over tomorrow and Sewing Bee starts Grin
