I was really hoping Sunny going in and telling her they’d solved the case would be just what she needed to bring her round.
Then no, it switches to her fucking funeral.
😱😢
I was not expecting that.
The bit with her Dad and the VM. 😢😢😢😢😢

minou123 · 29/03/2021 22:10

It was a great ending.

But I have so many questions:

  1. Why did Fogerty keep the body? Did they collude and tell him to keep it in a freezer or did they all just hope Fogerty would just sort it?
  1. So did Liz tell her dad what they had done and this is what Sheila Hamcock was referring to?
  1. Did Liz get rid of the evidence that Fiona was drink driving, but there is no way to prove it now?
Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2021 22:11

@bendmeoverbackwards

I’m still confused.

Who was driving?

Walsh killed Dean’s brother right?

And I missed what Fiona’s husband said - staying together or not?

Thief stole cat

Yes to Walsh as he killed his brother

Loves her. Staying together

@PrinzessinCressida

Am I the only one who missed it going from "unlikely recovery" to "dead"?
I guess that was happening while her dad listened to the voicemail over and over

The sudden switch from sunny excitedly going to tell his boss they’d solved it... 😭 at first I thought she was just going to be unable to ever work again or something

MorrisZapp · 29/03/2021 22:12

Randall and Hopkirk Deceased?

If I was Dean I'd be well pissed off. Absolute masterclass from him, I was crying anyway. Just no need.

Winniewonka · 29/03/2021 22:12

Peter Egan as her Dad has been superb. The scene where he was at her bedside saying all the things he remembered made me think that perhaps his dementia isn't so far advanced. Then it's revealed that he is only repeating the same words from her last phone message that Cassie remembered. Brilliant piece of script writing.

viques · 29/03/2021 22:13

@aramox

Oh that was unnecessary. And what about Sheila Hancock? And why the freeeezer?
That annoyed me, so much of the first few episodes tied up in the freezer and the dismembered body, then they didn’t explain any of it. I just wanted to understand the logistics and the reasoning.

Sad though, poor Cassie, but at least they will pay out for her death in service, not like poor old John Corbett. ( irony if only they had let her retire)

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2021 22:13

Well we didn’t all expect that

e6 recap

Wish they'd spent more time giving us answers.

How did Rob Fogarty end up storing the body for years
Who's idea was it for him to look after it and why did they trust him
Did they know Rob had died and then panicked about the body
What about Liz losing Fiona's blood sample
How long after the murder did Dean start cocaine smuggling
If Dean hated his Mum why did he send her a Mother's Day card
Why did Ram's dad not talk to him
What did Sheila Hancock know
Why did Ram not notice a pen in the skull when he was giving CPR?

Aargh!

SirVixofVixHall · 29/03/2021 22:15

I feel genuinely upset now .Recently bereaved which isn’t helping.

TheSpottedZebra · 29/03/2021 22:15

I normally bawl like a baby (at the tv, but not in real life) but that didn't affect me at all! Most odd.

Maybe I was too distracted by my annoyance at all the unresolved strands. It's like covid came and they didn't have enough time to finish the story. So just... stopped.

Also I LOVE Nicola Walker and like to think she's left that for exciting new things, where all the plot lines get resolved. AND that Sunni gets to be top dog now and continue the series.

PrinzessinCressida · 29/03/2021 22:16

@SingToTheSky Thank you. Another one who thought Sunny filling her in would cause her to recover Sad

Very sorry to hear that Vix. Hope you're doing ok.
SingToTheSky · 29/03/2021 22:16

Sorry for your loss SirVix 💐

aramox · 29/03/2021 22:17

Was Hancock shielding and couldn't do the last episode or something? So much missing!

Ulysses · 29/03/2021 22:17

While Cassie's demise was sad it was unsurprising. I like the concept of the show and can see it going on without her.

I thought the storyline fell flat for a number of reasons - what did Liz's mother know and what of the dismembered body. Who did that? I wondered where it was going to go when the brother and the son of the victim reconciled briefly as well.

PolloDePrimavera · 29/03/2021 22:17

The doctors would have known she wouldn't recover, machines would have kept her alive. I'm not certain of the legalities but essentially, they can be turned off. This happened to my friend 20 years ago so am a bit sketchy.

tumpymummy · 29/03/2021 22:17

@colouringindoors

can't remember when i last cried like this for a tv character
Me neither. I'm literally sobbing. I feel like someone I know has died. Not a TV character.

I'm sorry. It was certainly brutal. Thanks
Ulysses · 29/03/2021 22:18

You stated it better than I did @dayswithaY

goingpearshaped · 29/03/2021 22:18

Bloody hell, I did not expect that. So sad. Also thought case news would change the outcome for Cass. Gutting. Need to watch something happy now.

Druidlookingidiot · 29/03/2021 22:18

I feel really sad at that ending. 😭😭😭

BruceAndNosh · 29/03/2021 22:19

8.59 Me to DH - If they kill off Cassie I'll be well pissed off.
9.59 Me to DH - I'm well pissed off!

Copy and pasted from a website about NW:

What will Nicola Walker star in next?
Nicola Walker will appear in another cop drama next.

She will star as Annika in the TV series of the same name.

Nicola portrays Marine Homicide Unit detective in the upcoming drama which will air on Alibi.

Based on the Radio 4 drama Annika Stranded, the six-part series follows DI Annika Strandhed as her specialist unit is tasked with investigating a number of mysterious deaths and unexplained murders off the coast of Scotland.

While managing her unit and her “brilliant yet complex” teenage daughter Morgan (Silvie Furneaux), Annika frequently breaks the fourth wall to include the audience in her investigations.

Nicola Walker voiced Annika in the Radio 4 drama.

The actress is currently filming the series, which will air later this year.

Yes, if they'd totally removed the Cass getting hit by a car storyline, they could have answered all those questions
