Oh god I’d forgotten her bit about feeling like a failure in her voicemail 😭

What did everyone think of ram’s parting words - that he’d wanted to phone an ambulance but then knew everyone would try to blame him. It was like a final pointing out of the racism. Not sure if Sunny was convinced.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 29/03/2021 22:48

And of course he was wrong as none of them ever attempted to pin it on him.

I am not commenting on Cassie as I am still processing that voicemail.

SirVixofVixHall · 29/03/2021 22:48

TheSpottedZebra thank you. Circs too upsetting to post, it has been rough.

bendmeoverbackwards · 29/03/2021 22:49

@FawnDrench

Why did Liz whisper nearly all her bloody lines? Drove me scatty..
Yes I hate this! My hearing isn’t the best.
dayswithaY · 29/03/2021 22:50

Thinking about it, it must have been Liz that shoved the body into the freezer. She drove Rob's car home (with Matthew's body in the boot) as Rob was arrested and taken to the police station.

Presumably Rob then separated the head from the body at a later date. It must have been Liz, otherwise the body would have stayed in the boot while he was being interviewed and Liz wouldn't risk that.

Annoying.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/03/2021 22:51

But so many loose ends . . .

Bastards!

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 29/03/2021 22:52

I was so busy crying I didn't spot all the plot holes, and loved the writing of the dad reciting Cassie's last VM: very poignant. I agree there was a lot of loose ends. But isn't that a bit the way this series works? It doesn't make things neat and packaged at the end, there's always a sense of things not being 'resolved' just solved iykwim. I really felt for Liz, Ram and Dean especially - all those years of guilt and self-loathing, such a waste of life, that can't ever be 'fixed'. I would have liked to understand the reasons for the storage/freezer, and why/who decided to remove the hands/head though.... Sunny was superb in this episode though, fabulous to see him come into his own and work so skilfully.

Clawdy · 29/03/2021 22:52

Who were Jerome and his Uncle Clive? Can't remember.

just when I'd finally stopped weeping.

😭😭😭

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 29/03/2021 22:54

@SirVixofVixHall: so sorry for your loss. Flowers

Violetroselily · 29/03/2021 22:54

Did we find out why Cassie was off with stress? I'm sure in episode 1 she referred to the case from series 2?

MissBarbary · 29/03/2021 22:58

@Clawdy

Who were Jerome and his Uncle Clive? Can't remember.
The son and brother of the murder victim.
AudTheDeepMinded · 29/03/2021 22:58

@FawnDrench I habitually watch all TV with the subtitles on now, can't understand what the heck is going on otherwise. Also gives me a chance to shout at the telly when the subtitler has cocked up with spelling etc win/win.

Woodlandbelle · 29/03/2021 22:58

Yes she wasn't well after years of horrific cases. The last series she cried interviewing the murdered of the teens. Then the abuse cases affected her. They didn't proceed when Cassie and Sunny found out it was due to them killing their abusers. So it was work stress.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 29/03/2021 22:59

It was a cumulative thing, partly the events of series 2 but then the awfulness of the guy in series 3.

Interesting tweet here from Chris Lang, writer:

SingToTheSky · 29/03/2021 23:01

She was off due to how she felt from the series 3 case mainly I think. I need to watch that series again though. I need my Cassie fix 😭

Actually I think the biggest waste of all for me is how she’d spent the last year (or however long it was meant to be) feeling so utterly stressed, miserable and angry, because of everything she was trying to endure. That she changed so much from the still caring but cheerful and determined Cassie she was in series 1. Finding that quite poignant really.

Halsall · 29/03/2021 23:01

They're doing a TV version of Annika Stranded? I've heard quite a lot of the radio episodes and they're OK enough, but the title makes me irrationally annoyed.....there's something so cringey about what the writer seems to think is the marvellous play on words, with the character's name being 'Strandhed' , GEDDIT? Whereas actually it's just a bit lame. Not a patch on Unforgotten unfortunately.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 29/03/2021 23:03

I just rewatched Sunny's speech at the end and blubbed all over again. I thought it was very realistic. Reminded me horribly of a friend's funeral who died young and had speeches from his colleagues as well as family.
I thought it was a fitting end for her

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 29/03/2021 23:03

Finally PPs are asking questions Grin What on earth was the drug smuggling plot all about, why was Sheila Hancock so nasty to her DD, who the hell chopped the body up, why the drama over paying the carer more money..and so it goes on. Absolutely terrible ending with none of the loose ends tied up.

CallmeHendricks · 29/03/2021 23:05

They had to kill her off really, though, didn't they? She was only doing this last case to ride out the last month or two until her retirement, so she wouldn't have been around for a new case anyway?

SuperSange · 29/03/2021 23:09

Why did the housekeeper have a cheque for 10k? I think I missed something.

Pomegranatespompom · 29/03/2021 23:11

Fiona said it was Ram I think ??

CallmeHendricks · 29/03/2021 23:12

@SuperSange

Why did the housekeeper have a cheque for 10k? I think I missed something.
I think Liz was trying to make amends before she went down.
SingToTheSky · 29/03/2021 23:13

@SuperSange

Why did the housekeeper have a cheque for 10k? I think I missed something.
Liz had said it was more than what Eugenia had asked for in the envelope, then she said at the end about trying to help in other ways, make amend etc so it was part of that I think
SuperSange · 29/03/2021 23:13

@CallmeHendricks Thank you! I thought I'd missed a super secret reason!
