I quite like the idea of Yasmeen and Elaine sharing a house and being there for each other, Geoff would indeed turn in his grave!

Honeyroar · 05/03/2021 22:48

They were quite bearable when they were getting drunk. (ok. Not exactly drunk!)

DipSwimSwoosh · 05/03/2021 23:17

Why wouldn't Alya, Yasmeen and Elaine agree that Alya gets everything? Still in the family, she'd get it eventually anyway, she will look after it and her gran.

Roussette · 06/03/2021 08:28

Sophie love the haiu Grin

Yes, I said upthread... give the lot to Alya and let her sort it all out.

Although I suppose Elaine is Tim's mother and Geoff's ex so fair enough

Roussette · 06/03/2021 08:28

Haiku

TheMerryWidow1 · 06/03/2021 08:49

Does anyone else get an awful feeling about Elaine moving in with Yasmeen and doing the same as Geoff did?

MamaMeAh · 06/03/2021 08:51

I feel really sad
I've watched corrie all my life and last nights shit storm was the crappiest ever
What the fucking hell are they doing????????
They've turned a classic British soap opera, that was watched and loved all over the globe to a nondescript, unbelievable, violent, drug infested pile of shite that nobody can identify with.
They change the characters personality to suit the story, WTF is that about, have they no writing skills?
For christs sake, go back to your roots

MamaMeAh · 06/03/2021 08:53

Yes, @TheMerryWidow1, I did, but it's still shit

Roussette · 06/03/2021 09:13

It did cross my mind... a thought... oh god what if Elaine is not as nice as she's coming across.

Akire · 06/03/2021 09:21

They have written her as barely able to cope, living in a bed sit, being in mental Heath unit/hospital as she couldn’t cope. Now she’s the wise adviser on how to get rid of your abusive ex. She’s never mentioned work though not sure if she’s supposed to be retired, had presumed she was on Disability benefits because of the way it has affected her.

Geoff only owed 1/6 restaurant. So both kids have 1/3 each and Yas also 1/6. At the moment must be taking home about £3.50 each in profits.

BurtonHouse · 06/03/2021 11:17

I've watched Corrie since Deidre's affair with Mike Baldwin, but since Christmas I've given up on it. Badly acted, no credibility, no humour and shockingly bad scripts. Your comments reinforce the feeling that I'm not just a nitpicking curmudgeon, so I'll keep reading on here and fingers crossed that the powers that be pull their fingers out and turn it around.

UhtredRagnarson · 06/03/2021 11:42

Can’t believe the spoiler is still there! Angry

lollipoprainbow · 06/03/2021 12:12

I think yasmeen and Elaine might end up as a couple. Carla was really scary not! Telling Jacob to stop being friends with Simon yeah like that's going to help !!

DinosaurDiana · 06/03/2021 12:15

Can I just say that I think Jacob is a cracking actor. I don’t like his character, but I bet we’ll see more of him in other programmes.

Yes
Roussette · 06/03/2021 12:22

What... like a couple couple or just a couple?!!

UhtredRagnarson · 06/03/2021 12:22

I think yasmeen and Elaine might end up as a couple.

Oh please no! They’ve already done it with Nina and asha, please let yaslaine just stay friends!

Roussette · 06/03/2021 12:23

I don't know why Leanne is suddenly having a meltdown with what Si is doing and running round to Peter's... she found those drugs a week ago which could well be a month in human not Corrie time!

I couldn't have put it better myself.

It used to be about real people and real problems. There was compassion, there was humour (some quite dark, but always appropriate) and above all there was affection and admiration for people who kept going even when life dealt them one bad card after another. People weren't just black-or-white (personality-wise) - they were multi-layered and you cared about them - even the ones who were less than sympathetic a lot of the time.

It's now just a facile parody of working lives and less and less believable with every episode. The characters are 2-dimensional and have no integrity. There are very few that I give a monkey's about any longer. (I still like Roy, though. And Mary, though she has some stupid scripts has promise, still - and Maureen Lipman's character whose name always escapes me.)

Corrie isn't Corrie any more.

eggandonion · 06/03/2021 13:01

I'm hoping for Thelma and Louise from Yaslaine, so Alya and Ryan can get married and live happily ever after with beautiful children.

Iwantacampervan · 06/03/2021 13:32

Having sat through last night's episode I can conclude that the best part played goes to... (drumroll)..the jigsaw! Although, they never show it close up otherwise viewers would either be complaining that he's not done it at all or they would be writing in to tell Peter which piece goes where!
I agree that the actor playing Jacob is doing a fantastic job but so good that I'm tempted not to watch his scenes as he angers me so much.
What was the point of the whole scene about Carla & the bath? Did she ever get out of it?
Fizz was even more annoying than usual if that's possible and as for Sean, words cannot convey my feelings about him!
There was something not right about it all yesterday.

TellingBone · 06/03/2021 13:45

Yes - I was going to post this myself.
Silenceisgolden20 · 06/03/2021 14:07

What is going on with Leanne? The Leanne that stands up to Tracey and the rest of the street just stood there when Jacob behaved in that way?
Is that because her character is grieving? Because it doesn't work.

And Simons speech about he's paying for them to live there. Er, what about Nic? It's not like she hasn't got support.

The writing, if you can call it that, has got beyond ridiculous.

And Yasmeens over acting expressions.

I have to give this up.

Akire · 06/03/2021 14:18

Yes Jacob looks familiar, he fit right in with a 9pm ITV drama but it’s strong role for Corrie. We don’t need constant high stakes drama we haven't got over the last 3 attempted murders from last month yet.

lollipoprainbow · 06/03/2021 14:23

Roulette yes a couple couple! Not sure why I get that feeling but they've both been dealt a bad deal with men, instigated by Yasmeen I think. Agree Jacob is a fab actor and very believable, I also think Simon was good too with his speech to Leanne about grieving too. But yes Corrie has come a long way (not in a good way) from aidens suicide for example which was handled and acted so well and who can forget gails speech looking out the window, that was before they made her character a simpleton !!
