New thread!

Sad Sal. Thought she'd be safe after the drink flask.

*Bold fail - sorry!

@SoupDragon

😂

I wasn't a massive Sal fan. She seemed almost too sure she would win. Smug almost.

TBH, who is in it does little to affect my enjoyment. I just like the programme - I'd be happy to watch it without the competition aspect!

I think I agree with this. I mean she had a lot to be smug about, but I think that was her undoing. As soon as she said that she wasn't going to stick to the traditional shape of the pots both my husband and I thought that might be an issue for the judges. It did hint slightly at knowing better than anyone else. Don't get me wrong I liked both Sal and her designs and wanted her to win, but that decision cost her the competition, sadly.
SoupDragon · 08/03/2021 17:05

I imagine it was edited to highlight that too.

APurpleSquirrel · 08/03/2021 20:49

The right person went home - I think Hannah has been very lucky to have got this far. There was too much clashing patterns, structurally flawed & just too big & ungainly.

I didn't like Peter's at all - the glazes were too pale & badly applied, there were cracks & it just looked awful - not something I'd want in my bathroom.

Adam's was amazing but agree the pedestal & bowl didn't seem to match well. Notice they didn't pull him up on the gap between the two either which they did with Jodie.

Loved Jodie's - could see that in an actual bathroom. Yes the bowl could have been bigger but I liked the understated design.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 09/03/2021 09:36

Aye. The right person did go home.

I loved Adam’s pedestal - I thought the little scales were lovely. I wasn’t terribly struck by the bowl although the work in it was great.

I love Pete but I wouldn’t want that in my privy.

Jodie’s I would - with a tweak. I’m a sucker for dragonflies.

I don’t mind who wins next week.

knittingaddict · 09/03/2021 09:53

To be fair I wouldn't want any of those in my bathroom. The same goes for all the loos in previous series. Some of them look lovely, but I'm nothing if not practical and they would be impossible to clean.

I thought Hannah's had promise if she had executed it better and had twice as long to do it justice. Peter's had the potential to be great too, but I agree that the glazes were too wishy washy for what it was trying to be. I really disliked Jodie's. I thought it was boring and too pastel. Adam's was beautiful. I don't think his full capability is shown on his website though, which is a shame. I would buy stuff from Sal's website though. We collect ceramics and it's right up my street.

SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 10:22

I love the tentacles on Adam's website. They are wonderfully odd!

LaChatte · 09/03/2021 13:23

I agree that I wouldn't want any of them at home.

Sal has defended herself on FB, saying that if viewers had been able to read the actual brief, then they might have been more understanding, however she isn't allowed to share the details as her contract forbids it. I definitely think she must have pissed someone off.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 09/03/2021 13:33

Sal says it best when she says nothing at aaaaaaaaall 😉

SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 14:40

if viewers had been able to read the actual brief, then they might have been more understanding

But she said throughout how she wasn't sure about the rim, how it didn't fit the description but that she was doing it anyway.

APurpleSquirrel · 09/03/2021 14:49

@SoupDragon

But then, to be frank, in every episode Alon had pretty much completely ignored the brief & been safe - it perhaps wasn't unreasonable of Sal to assume she might be safe too? I mean that fruit bowl of Alon's was ridiculous!
SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 14:50

Yes, his fruit bowl didn't work but it was still a fruit bowl.

SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 14:53

That week they were told to make a specific shaped pot and neither he nor Sal did.

I don't think Alon disregarded the brief before like he did in this week. He did experimental things but within the brief. This was just wrong.

LaChatte · 09/03/2021 16:01

The fact that C4 won't let them share the brief makes me think that Sal was unfairly eliminated.

LaChatte · 09/03/2021 16:02

(Although she hasn't criticised the decision at all she just says that the brief wasn't what came across in the editing)

SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 16:42

But she clearly knew it wasn't what they asked for because she said as much. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Has Alon said anything?

SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 16:54

I've just started googling the potters and looking at their Instagram pages. Jodie has some stunning stuff on there - far better than the stuff on the show!

LaChatte · 09/03/2021 17:40

Sal's the only one I've seen regularly posting on FB (there's a throwdown group). She comes across as a really nice person, and generally supportive of the the show, but there's a definite undercurrent of something else going on. I've not really looked into any of the others, apart from Keith who I follow (he was amazing during the first lockdown).

SoupDragon · 09/03/2021 18:18

Well, what's done is done I suppose. I suspect the production company aren't going to be happy that she is even hinting at an "I was robbed!" scenario if the contract specifically says not to publish the briefs.

I'm off to continue my google search of the other contestants now 😂

LaChatte · 09/03/2021 18:47

I just had a quick nose around on Insta, at first glance I think I like Sal and Peter's stuff the most. A couple of the others do similar stuff to me (so i think it looks at bit pants iyswim 😅).

IntermittentParps · 11/03/2021 13:28

She should have been sent home weeks ago. I agree with this. Hannah has been out of her depth for ages. The sink looked like someone set up a hippy cafe in Covent Garden in the 80s and their mate made it for them as a favour.

Jodie's was a bit dull, but well made, and I liked her chamber pot.

Peter's sink design was inspired; I loved it. And I speak as someone who usually finds only a plain white butler's sink acceptable Grin

Adam's wasn't to my taste, but it was done well. His chamber pot was a delight too. He deserved P of the W.

I want Jodie to win but I think it may be Adam, depending on whose strengths the challenges play to. I'd be happy for him to win too. Or Peter, for that matter; he really seems to have come to life and found his mojo in the past couple of weeks.

bruffin · 11/03/2021 13:51

I love Peters instagram page, there is a vase on there i really want.

SoupDragon · 11/03/2021 15:12

I want one of these from Adam's page

www.adamceramic.com/product/these-guys

TokyoSushi · 11/03/2021 16:48

@IWantToBeNynaeve

I love Peter but does anyone else think he looks like the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz! Every time I look at him that's all I can see Grin. I reckon it will be either Peter or Adam for the win, Peters stuff is always so solid and well built but I think Adam has the edge on design and beauty. It all comes down to the day though, it could be any of the 3!
Yes! Yes! That's what it is!!
LaChatte · 11/03/2021 16:49

@bruffin

I love Peters instagram page, there is a vase on there i really want.
I really like his bulbous vases with long thin necks, the red colours are beautiful.
