I cant say I like it so far.

unique1986 · 21/02/2021 21:48

The trailer was bit overhyped with the flames and shooting.
Eeeek so boring.

TheLaughingGenome · 21/02/2021 21:56

That wee dinghy's doing some mileage.

TheLaughingGenome · 21/02/2021 21:58

Oh like fuck they'd excavate those bodies so neatly in a few hours.

Moonstone1234 · 21/02/2021 21:58

This is awful. It’s nothing like I thought it was going to be. Maybe it’s the Irish everything but I thought it was boring.

Violetroselily · 21/02/2021 21:59

Admittedly I've been working at the same time, but I found that quite hard to follow and not very exciting

BeetyAxe · 21/02/2021 22:01

Late to the thread, thought this was crap! Was that his wife with the necklace in the grave just there?

BlackCatsRule88 · 21/02/2021 22:03

I found it quite meh. No suspense or real action and I didn’t really find myself drawn in or particularly liking any of the characters. The camerawork annoyed me, too much moving about and zooming in/out. I’ll probably watch the remaining episodes but have a feeling I’ll forget what happened, not because it was complicated, but more because it was forgettable. Shame.

unique1986 · 21/02/2021 22:04

I didnt like any of the characters or wasnt intrigued by any.

longtompot · 21/02/2021 22:05

It was ok, a bit flat, but my biggest gripe? The announcer talking over a great song for the end credits. I hate it when they do this.

YouHaveAuthorityJackieWeaver · 21/02/2021 22:10

I do hope the dr/lecturer isn't going to be a Jimmy Nesbitt love interest.... yawn

GetOffYourHighHorse · 21/02/2021 22:11

I quite liked it but seemed a bit remiss to bury anyone on a highly visible island. You'd think a wooded area would've been a better bet.

Rhubarb01 · 21/02/2021 22:25

So, the hotel door was booby trapped - why didn't they just get a ladder and look through the window?

Sittinbythetree · 21/02/2021 22:36

It was very explainy. Lots of unnatural dialogue to show the characters backstory. As soon as they showed the ugly necklace it was obviously going to be used to ID the wife. I spent quite a lot of the episode googling Strangford lough, which was interesting, the plot - less so. If the attractive dr is nesbitt’s love interest that will be grim, he’s far older than her and way less good looking. I think she is a baddy though and will kidnap his daughter. Awful mumbling so DH and I were doing a lot of ‘what did he say?’. Main criticism was that surely he wouldn’t be one a case linked to his own wife’s disappearance? Nice to see one of the boys from Young Offenders though.

Arcadia · 21/02/2021 22:50

@Sittinbythetree ooh which was the character from young offeNders? Didn't spot that!
Thought it was dull and formulaic.

Tormundsbeard · 21/02/2021 22:54

At least two cast members from Derry Girls..

Chienloup · 21/02/2021 22:54

Ha, yes so explainy. Not just the backstory of the characters, but a fair of explaining about NI for the non-NI audience.
Jimmy Nesbitt vaguely amuses me in an unintentional way.

Tagsisbk · 21/02/2021 22:58

I thought it was ok, might have a bit of potential

The lack of good dramas due to covid and filming restrictions have probably lowered my standards 😂

Plus I’m a sucker for an accent

Wearethetwirl · 21/02/2021 23:01

I think James Nesbitts hair transplant and botox are quite noticeable and can make suspension of disbelief quite difficult. It's a bit hard to accept him as a gritty tragic cop when he's got a Brillo pad sewed on his noggin.

wellthatsunusual · 21/02/2021 23:01

James Nesbitt sounds like someone impersonating a generic N Ireland accent (which doesn't exist in reality) which is weird because he actually should have a real North Antrim/Coleraine accent.

VinterKvinna · 21/02/2021 23:06

I watched with dp, and I had no preconceptions as not heard of it previously, and the only thing I have is a dislike for JM

I can see cliches coming, but enjoyed it

MumofSpud · 21/02/2021 23:08

I was looking forward to this as Jimmy Nesbit usually is in good dramas but.... he can only do 1 expression can't he!
I heard Charlene McKenna being interviewed on Graham Norton today and she was v entertaining- certainly sold it.
I didn't recognise Jock from The Young Offenders as the policeman either!!
Will give it another go next week and hope the pace livens up

JaneJeffer · 21/02/2021 23:15

Jeez if Nesbit had Botox I'd be asking for my money back if I was him.

It wasn't great but there was some funny moments like the "him?" to being a ladies man. The bomb scene was tense. I'm glad they found the bodies because if I thought a loved one of mine was buried there I wouldn't stop until I dug the whole island up!

I definitely think the lecturer is up to no good.

I thought Line of Duty was overrated anyway.

JaneJeffer · 21/02/2021 23:18

It was really weird to see everyone milling around the hospital without a mask in sight.

Titterofwit · 21/02/2021 23:23

The accents annoyed me. Which is weird as they are all ( as far as I cant tell)from the area originally. Its as if they have been trying to hard too enunciate for non Irish viewers and have forgotten how to speak properly.
Why have they made a lot of the scenery and yet not shown much of it? I want to see the Cave hill and black mountain. I want to see the houses and shops and not an 'effect' .
But otherwise its a basic cop drama that hasnt much to recommend it.But Ill still watch it to catch sight of familiar places.
