I thought the pendant might have been planted on the corpse, it looked a bit too shiny, but why I don't know.
Ooh yes maybe Dinger put it there.

ScoldsBridle · 03/03/2021 01:52

So the timing is key. The case has been resurrected at precisely the time when no investigation can be conducted in a straightforward criminal way. I thought the scene was very odd when Nesbitt made his sidekick describe in detail the state of the bodies in the grave and the gunshot wounds. He was quite brusque. I thought it was him putting on a front to deal with his grief but after that final scene maybe it was more about knowing what they’d got on him.

And the other guy going and getting the phone from the drawer in the caravan - was it a phone or a dictaphone like the one who got shot at the end had? And where did Nesbitt get the gun?

All very intriguing. I found the doctor interesting - I thought she looked like an older version of the main girl in Derry Girls - could have been her Mum!

I’m most entertained by it all but did wince at the use of the surname Keenan and being chained to a radiator and also very acutely aware of the sensitivities of making a drama about such recent, painful history.

Can’t wait to see next week’s episode!

JaneJeffer · 03/03/2021 02:47

I thought it might have been the long haired guys gun that he dropped when he ran off.

ScoldsBridle · 03/03/2021 10:22

Ah yes. They like flagging up the lingering visual clues - I knew I’d seen a gun skittering across a floor somewhere - our attention was definitely being drawn to this (like the necklace at the beginning and the tea cups etc...)

DanielODonkey · 03/03/2021 13:57

I don't trust the doctor at all - too many coincidences. Unless she really did take a liking to JN in the hospital and has been pursuing him via the daughter... which would be odd but a bit less murdery.

I can't remember but was there any reason why JN was so insistent his wife had been murdered? Had he proof or just that she disappeared?

The necklaces are ugly. Not something I would exchange with a man. Could you imagine a couple wearing those huge owls? You'd be clanging as you walk down the street.

I think Dinger has suspicions and is trying to keep the female police officer safe.

Also wondered why JN not only chose to live looking over the loch but after the short kidnapping had merrily left his daughter on her own with only Murder Island to keep her amused.

Totally caught out by the twist at end of ep2. I think JN has Reasons for shooting his Cold Feet Father but I don't know if it's because JN is Goliath or not.

And if there is a Goliath then does that mean there is a Samson too?

I only half watched. I should watch again...

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 03/03/2021 14:23

Sampson is the other crane.

DanielODonkey · 03/03/2021 14:33

Well yes I know that. My point being is there is a Goliath (one crane) then does that mean there s another sinister person called Samson (the other crane).

BenoneBeauty · 03/03/2021 16:36

That would be a twist @DanielODonkey but I think might be a bit too local for it to mean anything more widely across the UK.

OliviaBensonsEyebrow · 03/03/2021 17:05

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName

Sampson is the other crane.
Yes, goes with Duggee's theory that more than one person is the killer.
OliviaBensonsEyebrow · 03/03/2021 17:08

Burner phone for communication with Siobhan? They know each other but we don't know why yet - Duggee wondered if Siobhan is an informer or if Jackie Twomey is involved in the gun smuggling.

JaneJeffer · 03/03/2021 17:38

Nesbitt made his sidekick describe in detail the state of the bodies in the grave and the gunshot wounds.
Do you think it's because he knows how his wife was killed, perhaps not by a gun, and was checking to see if her body was there? He might not have been involved in the burial.

Wingedharpy · 04/03/2021 01:49

I was thinking more along the lines of David and Goliath ie. the big, powerful one brought down by the seemingly smaller, weaker one?
After that, I'm stuck!

Wingedharpy · 04/03/2021 01:49

How long has Mrs Nesbitt been "missing" for?

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/03/2021 06:36

20yrs I think

Please remind me who Siobhan is?

One thing I thought was odd, was the photos of the 3 missing men are all very clear and new 'this is my actor publicity photo' and Nesbitts wife picture looks like it was enlarged from a 1960s newspaper. I know she was undercover but surely her husband has a better photo of her to give to the police?

Also why tie those 4 missing people into one investigation and not others. Kidnapping with no body was not an unknown event in NI.

Cocolapew · 04/03/2021 11:38

Ohh thats because we would recognise her Breakfast. Good call.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 04/03/2021 12:22

I also spent the two episodes thinking "Its amazing how different Inspector Twomey looks from the Game of Thrones character The Hound"
Eventually realised it was a completely different actor

Wingedharpy · 04/03/2021 14:45

😂😂😂@BreakfastAtSquiffanys : We all have our moments of genius, then, there are those other moments.........

Possibly.

I'm still trying to guess why his house (with massive windows) looks over the island though. Kind of like he's watching the island for some reason.

Siobhan is the wife of one of the victims. Tom and Niamh follow a motorcyclist to her house and stop the motorcyclist shooting her. The motorcyclist is one of Keenan's henchmen.
purpleme12 · 04/03/2021 22:31

What!!!

purpleme12 · 04/03/2021 22:53

I'm so confused

Cocolapew · 04/03/2021 23:37

I don't think his house overlooked the actual island but does overlook Strangford Lough, which is massive.

BruceAndNosh · 05/03/2021 03:46

Strangford Lough has dozens of little islands. You think whoever buried the bodies would have chosen one with a bit more cover.

DanielODonkey · 05/03/2021 13:25

@BruceAndNosh

Strangford Lough has dozens of little islands. You think whoever buried the bodies would have chosen one with a bit more cover.
To be fair, they did find an island with two trees and that "confusion" worked well enough for 20 years... (am saying this tongue in cheek)
